I have an old Trace rig, Combo with 15" cab and i had exactly the same when we did a gig in august up in Studley, the stage was quite big, wooden floor and very pretty looking but my bass sounded sh*te no matter where i stood. I have a couple of spare cables and used the longest cable i had and walked out into the middle of the hall and it sounded awsome. just where i was stood was pump. have you tried with the preshape on, compression set quite low and playing with the eq like rodl2005 says. If it sounds good to the crowd then sometimes you have to put up with a poop on stage sound.
+1 the number of times i have had an uncomfortable stage sound but a great sound to the audience...Bass is quite difficult to judge from an audience perspective - you either need someone you trust to let you know how you sound (not the guitarist) or a nice long lead to go hear for yourself. That said, i changed my amp and speakers and found it easier to dial in sounds for different venues. Start with a flat eq. Hopefully you won't have to change it too much. And the sound will always be different when there are a whole bunch of peeps in the room.
 2.
TC state that their amps (RH450,Stacatto 51 and Classic) can happily run 3 of their cabs of whatever configuration. The 3 cabs give a mean impedance of 4 ohms, which is the minimum the amps can run. TC state they achieve this because a speaker or cab is not necessarily 8 ohms across the audio spectrum, it varies. The idea of being able to run 1, 2 or 3 cabs is ground breaking IMO, and it is what attracted me to the TC rig. I run a single 2x12 at the moment which copes well with a loud blue rock band, but Im considering either a 1x12 or 2x10 to go with it................(whispers so wife cant hear) or both!! This is great kit, very impressed so far.... and my back likes it too!
I run the TC Cabs with a LM2 Head. I have a 2x10 and a 2x12 and have never run out of headroom. Impressive gear although had to return the 2x10 as the speaker jack input on the rear failed. I use the Speakons now so not a problem.
 3. Ok, ok the sale is off. What was i thinking. You guys have persuaded me to hang on to it. And you are probably right. There are a lot of Jazz basses out there but not many of these. It's a keeper. And £500 doesn't sound a lot for the quality of this instrument. Wise words - thanks a lot. (Will have to fund the Jazz from that old 5 string MIM Jazz that i have in a case somewhere)
 4.
Looking at both sets of photos it looks like maybe the original pick-ups were Bassline which i think are Seymour Duncans. I guess BottomE can answer this.. just an observation on my part A really lovely bass though regards Keith M
When i bought it it had the Custom Shop PuPs installed. Not being used to passive basses i was horrified and changed them for some Duncans thinking i would get a more "active" sound. I then grew up and realised that the original Custom shop PuPs were great and re-installed them. Originally i think the Hamer was sold with some form of Duncan PuP. I must say thanks for all the lovely comments. My bass is blushing. Sometimes you just take things for granted. I plugged it in last night and did some recording in CUBASE. Just listened back on fresh ears and it is a great sounding bass. Truly rich sound - and the sustain...... I have been underwhelmed by the different Fenders i have tried recently - that said i am probably going for a US Maple Necked one with s-1 switching (featured in the articles for sale). I'll have all bases (pardon the pun) covered with the Lakland, Hamer and Jazz bass. Probably get another dose of GAS soon though...
 5.
What a lovely looking bass.
I thought i would post some better quality pix - also some close ups of the famous 2Tek bridge.
 6.
What a lovely looking bass.
Thanks - it sounds pretty cool too! For some reason i believe i need a Fender Jazz (i blame the guitarist in my band as he is a Fender nut) but when i go check them out the build quality isn't as good. I end up playing the Cruise Bass and thinking why would i want a Fender? Maybe familarity has made me not appreciate this baby?
 7.
That was an under-rated bass, that. If I recall, the 2-TEK cost a few quid in its own, but I can't give you a figure for resale, mate. Does the bridge make the bass a bit heavy and how about posting a few pix?
Yes, it has something of an underground following. Its a US made Jazz clone and had rave reviews when introduced. Often quoted as being the first bass to get a perfect score in bass player magazine although i have never seen the article. The finish is amazing and build quality incredible. They went for $1400 new when introduced. It is a heavy bass but not unbearable. I have done loads of gigs with it and still have a relatively straight spine. Anyway, here are some pics...
 8. Hmm that looks nice (quite tempted). Does it have a growl? I have never played a Geddy Lee Jazz - the only Jap jazz i have played is the Marcus Miller signature and it was nice but the electrics were average at best.
 9. Got a lovely Hamer Cruise 2-tek from about 1994. It is a cherry burst, completely mint and has had some Fender custom shop PuPs installed. What sort of money should i be looking for if i were mad enough to sell it? Recently GAS has had me looking at either a Stingray or a Maple necked Fender Jazz.
 10.
One Bump. before I remove this don't think I'll get the dosh I need :-(
I am interested - not bought anything from here b4 though. I'd want to haggle a bit though ...
 11.
All, Been toying with replacing the pickups in my (original mk 1) Nathan East signature for a while now. Had the bass for years and absolutely love it. It's a fabulous player, looks amazing, it's a got a wonderfully tight B string and all in all, a tone monster. Jokingly call it the "money shot" bass because it always delivers live or recorded. If it's so good, why am I looking to change it? Well, to be honest, it's probably because I fancy a change more than anything. Probably nothing more than that. Just fancy experimenting a bit, been playing my four strings for ages now and probably just want something to push me back into playing the Nathan again. In my case, a bit of new kit always helps... ;-) Going down the route of looking for suitable pickups, I've found real trouble with the shape. There's very few aftermarket options it seems. I think Bartolini do some BB series humbuckers but I'm not sure. Any ideas? I seem to remember someone talking about Andy at Wizard doing a custom set for a Yamaha. Could be my imagination though. The upside of using the Barts (if I can get hold of them) is that the Nathan already has a Bartolini preamp in it so they'd match really well hopefully (I'd originally swapped this out because the default Yamaha preamp seemed to be soooooooooo hissy when I recorded with it). Anyone else changed the pickups in their Yamahas? T
I had a BB1100s - 80's model. The last thing i would want to do is change the PuPs as they are wonderful. The electrics in the earlier BB models are amazing . I understand fancying a change and all that. I changed the PuPs in one of my basses and instantly regretted it. Why not get a new bass instead?
 12. Hi, having two young kids at home its difficult to get the rig out and use it for practice. This means i am normally practicing the bass without amplification and i have noticed that it is adversely effecting my technique. When i get into a gig or rehearsal with the rig the things that sounded great "acoustically" don't sound so great. What machines/tools/methods are there that you can recommend that will let me practice effectively? Thanks.
 13. I love showing these topics to my wife to prove how restrained i am. There are a lot of basses out there but hey can i be the only person on this thread to have a Hamer Cruise Bass? I haven't seen any mention of them! Here is my puny list: Columbus Precision copy - 1980 - 1985 - absolute bag of rubbish but didn't know any better Yamaha BB1100s 1985-2009 - seemed fantastic after the Columbus. Actually this is a fine bass - very versatile Hamer Cruise Bass (with 2 tek) 2007 - present day - terrific Jazz bass clone. Installed some Fender Custom Shops PuPs. I LOVE this bass. Fender MIM 5 String Jazz 2008 - present day - its ok. Not as well built as the Hamer but reliable. Lakland 55-01 2008 - present day - great sounding bass (if you like active PuPs). Nice balance and feel. Versatile.
