1. I always thought it was played in standard too, but looking at some live footage and Tim's hand position during the riff, it would appear it is in fact played in BEAD. It actually looks a lot easier to play in that tuning now I look at it. Well I never!
2. Looks like a pain to drill the enclosure and the pre-drilled ones are sold out! Might look at this in the near future as my MXR Bass Comp has just died (unless I can fix it). Don't forget to let us know how you get on!
3. As someone who has suffered from depression from my mid-teens, this sums up my life in general for many years. I always assumed this song would be my epitaph, but a few years into recovery I can now think way beyond this. That said, I have yet to hear a better vocalisation of the loneliness and isolation that depression brings. FYI I’d now choose “Madness” by Madness as my funeral song ?
4. Loved the “Shira” single but I have to admit I found most of the album disappointing. I suppose it was always going to be something of an anti-climax after a fifteen year wait. Fully agree with you regarding the bass though - the tone in particular is fantastic, as it was on “Worship and Tribute”. IIRC Justin Beck played all the bass on that album as well.
5. Not a fan in particular, but Prince was the first person I thought of. I can't think of anyone who even comes close.
6. I was the only rock fan in my circle of friends growing up. All the other lads were into hip-hop so I picked up a lot by osmosis. I'm a big fan of what came to be called "gangsta rap", in particular Dr Dre's "g-funk" sound, and will happily put Snoop Dogg's "Doggystyle" in my top ten albums of all time. Among the less mainstream artists I was exposed to, these guys stood out:
7. Difficult to rule so many out, but if you put a gun to my head: Soundgarden: Badmotorfinger RHCP: Blood Sugar Sex Magik Deftones: White Pony
8.
That's really interesting. I use a PJB double 4 with Monster cable alot. What was the issue?
IIRC Monster cables use slightly oversized jack plugs. Over time this relaxes the spring in a jock socket so that eventually a "standard" jack plug won't stay securely plugged in. One of our guitarists used Monster for a while then reverted to a normal cable - predictably his new cable kept falling out of his guitar until I replaced the output jack!
9.
If you're also DIY inclined in the electronics area then try the fdeck HPF pre. I built one from this layout: http://tagboardeffec...-hpf-pre-2.html
+1. I did the same and wouldn't play without it now.
10. Given that EHX are knocking it out of the park recently, this could be an interesting one! If I read the blurb correctly, it can do +/- 3 octaves! GAK has it listed at £161, which seems competitive. No idea how well it works on bass, but I'm sure one of the usual suspects will let us know before long
11. Just checking - this is a direct replacement for the Fender BBOT, right? As in no drilling required?
12. Marshall Echohead is a great-sounding inexpensive delay with excellent features, including tap-tempo. Does require an external tap switch, but you should be able to pick up a used Echohead for around £40 or so and maybe another tenner for the tap switch. Well worth a look. The reverse delay option is also great fun and the analog option is as good as any I’ve tried.
13.
I have a Marshall vibratrem which I was given a good while ago. They are surprisingly easy to find at a good price- only around £40 new
Yep, I was just about to suggest this. In fact I have one I'm about to move on as I no longer need it. Those Marshall pedals are all great for the money and seem to have slipped largely under the radar, which helps to keep prices down on the used market.
14. Let's be fair, the drums are somewhat lacking compared to the Zep version as well!
15.
Fully refined now I think
We both know that's a lie!
16.
Click on 'Edit' in your ad, then 'Use Full Editor'.
Thank you!
17. Ummmm, I've just sold an item but can't see how/where you edit the thread title. Am I being rather silly?
18.
p.s. Don't sell it
Believe me, I don't want to! Imminent wedding forces sale, plus the COG T47 keeps it off the board. I'd still keep it if I didn't need the cash!
