Just throwing it out here out of interest... I got hold of a OLP mm2... the usual... but it has been signed on the back by Chris wolsteholme in marker pen... ideally i wanted to give the guitar a new lease of life by stripping and recoating etc...... do you think the signature has any relevance towards the value of the guitar and worth keeping on?
Was it signed for the owner of the bass as an act of fandom, or was he an actual previous owner?

Used Turntable advice, any experts out there?
Big_Stu replied to skidder652003's topic in General Discussion
If you can find a good cond one the NAD 533 turntable is more or less the Rega Planar 2 with a different coat on. As basic as the Rega so very little can go wrong with them. I didn't use one for over a year but had forgotten to take the belt off the pulleys before doing so, it lost the tension. One new belt later & it was good as new. You'll know already about how good a Rega sounds. -
Options To Refinish A Bass In The North West?
Big_Stu replied to bagsieblue's topic in General Discussion
Brian Eastwood in Bacup (Rossendale Valley) gets my vote. http://www.brianeastwoodguitars.co.uk
I've hearde good things too about his work. Though for the OP I'd be concerned that the walnut stain was in whatever the finish was, rather than an actual wood stain. If the latter you could be talking of a hell of a lot of sanding back to remove it, possibly with uneven results. -
First place I ever saw a Park 100w Treble n Bass tranny head & wanted one instantly. Didn't know about the Marshall link at the time, but it was a Marshall I bought. A few years ago my son bought a s/h pair of the lower Marshall PA columns on Pp53 for £60. Between them they had 4 pristine Celestion Greenbacks & also similar in 10".

I heard their Brazilian rose wood.

It took me a while to realise it was a wind-up vid. One Direction don't figure highly on my radar, or 1D as I think those that are down wiv da kids call them.

Saw Chas & Dave play the Punk Rebellion in Blackpool a few years ago; it was a blinding show, really nice guys. I forget the drummer's name but apparently he was really long-term with them as well - almost as though they should be a 3 named trio.
But stealing what? What has the person concerned been deprived of? What is their actual loss?
In a similar vein; in this case he could argue that he's lost the revenue from the proposed film because he's "had to" cancel it due to the plot being leaked. If it's got a scratchplate, have a new small rout put underneath it? It's where the onboard overdrive lives on my custom. Which left enough space between the pots to have a flip up battery holder installed into the rear cavity cover.
Cheers for the replies, will get it done asap. I'll see if I have any scratch plates around. I may have one from the SJB I could em...... modify May make a template from my EST 96 (Vintage MM clone - Kiddies nightmare), and get black perspex.
I've seen a few EB3's with that problem. On the inside put what's called a repair washer - basically a bl**dy big washer - you may have to get the centre hole reamed out bigger for the jack plug if you can't get one big enough - and, for now, as a cosmetic fix on the outside - and plenty of colours available - how about the Rhythm/Treble switch plate off a Les Paul turned face down? When you've time to look at it - I'd keep the internal repair washer in place for strength - glued in place and then reglue all the broken pieces down to that. Bit of a jigsaw puzzle but then you may find a car touch up paint for the cracks that's a close enough match.

Many years ago I bought a bootleg of a Stones concert. Playing it I could just about hear some of the riffs, the rest was crowd noise and the guy who taped it talking/shouting to his mate. Possibly recorded up in the gods at a US arena gig. It didn't stop me from liking the Stones, going to their gig (singular - I wouldn't now) or buying other official recordings of theirs. So it may be an empty argument that he's using, though it may also be the premise that J (A) Hole uses for his brand, that if he isn't seen to attempt to defend it it becomes fair game. There are a few bands - I instantly think of Bob Dylan as an example who have "legalised" a bootleg to head off the bootlegger.

For all of their teeny-pop, glam & glitter, bog-rock, raucous, daft lyrics clothes and haircuts, loud anthemic image Slade did a fair few angst ridden ballads that showed a more mature side - IMHO natcherly............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Me7KHnBwoSE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAsuBEfvRcA

A bit under the budget but my son loved the drumstick pencils I got him. As drummers do the first thing he did with them was rattle out a shuffle on the nearest table top, which pretty soon shatters the lead in them, so they fall to bit when you sharpen them
-
The cajon sounds like a good call, maybe for options or future reference I've bought a couple of what I can only call "white noise cymbals" as drummers' presents. Can't find a link just now but it was kinda like a pair of hi-hat cymbals but stand mounted & they're shaped like a pair of old German Iron Crosses. The sound was as the name implies. Bought them at Johnny Roadhouse in Manchester but they don't seem to have them in just now.
Does anybody know of a really good videographer that can travel to Lancashire. Cheers
Lancs based Wayne Avanson at The Action House has done some; depends whereabouts in Lancs you are I suppose, though obviously he travels. Isn't showing any music vids on his site just now but he's worth a look.

anyone discover a band for the wrong reasons?
Tops! Saw them, umm, somewhere ... About 1982 ish.... Might have been Hammy Odeon...
Could be, they supported Motorhead a few times, in Kelly's case in more ways than one! -

Orig post deleted - it didn't fit with the theme of the OP. In that respect I would submit being 18 and seeing a chick HM band for the first time Kelly (RIP) was my fantasy woman for quite a while -

Would you pay a small fee - to try out a bass/guitar?
Big_Stu replied to Big_Stu's topic in General Discussion
Pleasantly surprised that it's not a total knock-back. I think I would if it was a serious bit of higher end gear, it would be an investment, maybe on a lower priced item if there was some goodies thrown in. I know there's a lot of shops under pressure from i'net sales, so it would be a case of "use them or lose them".
