On the face of it quite tempting but is this legit?
Muppet replied to Painy's topic in General Discussion
Wouldn't be surprised if the 'organiser' is a member here... -
There's no calibration he's going to disrupt by taking it apart. If he wants to sell a vintage instrument this is what he should do! Good luck.
-
Th pictures are limited. Photos of the pickups, pots, neck and neck pocket would help, but it looks on the face of it to be genuine. The pickguard is not original, the knobs are not original. The serial number is where I would expect it and checks as a 1971. I can't tell if the frets have been added More detailed photos as I mentioned would help but it seems real enough Ask your seller if he can take the bass apart. I'd say based on UK values it's a reasonable price, maybe a little overpriced.

True, but as @Hellzero says, if you’re not sure, being extra cautious will do no harm at all. It’s an extra 30 seconds in the grand scheme of things. I’ll admit I rarely do!
-
yep. So stick your allen key or whatever in the adjustment hole and from your photo position, lever right, towards your G string. As Tony says, I'd loosen the strings off a bit.
-
Regardless of whether it's left handed, turning the wheel clockwise will straighten the neck, turning it anti-clockwise will add relief. This is when viewed from the opposite of your photo. You should be sighting from the wheel towards the headstock. Before making any adjustments have you measured the action to know if there is too much or too little relief?

There's a GK200 on facebook marketplace for £150 - not mine! https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2674192146162483/

I think we all know what this is so I probably don’t need to post the specs. Cheapest I can find online is £149.99. Full MOT and Insurance, both keys, motorway mileage only, no tyre kickers, first to see will buy etc.... This is unused other than to try it out once (well twice now as I just tested it to check it works and updated to v2.20 firmware). Box, manuals, adaptor, ugly black bag, all included. Happy with a socially distanced exchange or post for an extra £7 nothing. No trades as I’ve a GAS fund that’s looking very empty. Thank you Steve

Budget basses that are way better than their prices suggest
Muppet replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
I would certainly not class them as 'budget' as that has low quality connotations but if we are considering affordable and value for money then the Chowny range is excellent. -
I had one of these and also the 75 reissue and I think these are much better guitars. This looks lovely and I like the oddities! I'd have done the same. Does it look like that was original wiring?
-
I would have expected the other way round but a ground is a ground isn't it? I don't know if there is a reason for doing it this way.

Echoes my thoughts. I was hoping for a clever dig at the Bros documentary but it was just a bit silly - too Chuckle Brothers for me.

Bought one when they first came out, loved it, didn't play it, sold it. Missed it, so bought another from here, loved it, didn't play it, sold it. Missed it, bought a THIRD from here, still loving it, still not playing it as much as I should.... I don't learn from my mistakes... Interesting to note that the relicing has changed slightly over time, mainly around the edges.
-
Yes you are correct it's fine to do that. I asked Darkglass the same question. Interestingly on the V1 it is labelled Preamp out/Poweramp In but Darkglass changed it as so many people asked if it could be used as an effects loop. And yes it's post EQ and microtubes but pre Master.

Does anyone use an iPad for their set lists and crib sheets?
Muppet replied to Old Horse Murphy's topic in General Discussion
I use an app called OnSong specifically for this. I create a library of songs per band and then I can create setlists from this library. My crib sheets are in PDF form created from Word. I upload them into Dropbox and them import them in to OnSong on my iPad. It also works with a bluetooth connected footswitch to turn pages, if that's your thing. -
True, but with Dave you got a bespoke service, rather than buying off the shelf. Yes he uses the same Neutrik connectors, Klotz/Van Damme cable as others do but you could talk through exactly what you needed with him and he's make it to spec. If all you're after is a 6m guitar lead then fair enough, but if you need a 3.5mm jack with a locking nut to a self muting right angled 1/4" jack it's tricky. Designacable as mentioned above do provide more of a specialist service but not quite to OBBM levels, in my opinion.

Another Designacable fan here. They’ll do anything you like using quality parts.

I know of one place in my gigging circle that is still planning on putting on a band outdoor on 4th July. All others (including the one my band was booked for) are no longer going ahead since reviewing the guidelines. Interestingly the one place that is still going ahead is saying "well, they're only guidelines, we'll be ok"..... Is anyone booked to play?
-
Your point is valid - there are two different versions of the guidelines!
-
From section 4.5 of the detailed guidance There will be further guidance setting out how performing arts activity can be managed safely in other settings, for instance rehearsing or broadcast without an audience.
