  1. Or get a RS 112 and stick your 212 on top of it.....😉
  2. And an aux input for connecting to your phone or laptop or mp3 player is always useful. And and onboard tuner maybe...?
  3. Well, all fixed now. My tech had a quick call with Ashdown, got the schematics and identified a couple of 16v capacitors' that had shorted. He replaced these with 25v ones and all is good. Ashdown were very helpful, he said.
  4. https://www.sims.guitars/custom-shop/pickguards I have had two from Martin and they have been absolutely spot on. I sent the original pickguard and within in a week I had it and the two new ones back.
  5. I used one just like that and hated it. It was for a Barefaced FR800 (so Big Baby 2 size). It was wobbly and it made no real difference to me. I saw a guy on Facebook that had made a small metal shelf for such as situation. it had a lip that hooked down over the front edge of the cab and the amp head sat on the shelf with a lip at the back tlited up to stop the amp head sliding backwards.
  6. Sorry returned late and see you've made an alternative purchase. I've had a couple of the modern players and the build quality has been very good indeed. Electronics used mini pots an were a bit shabby but overall nice basses. If the modifications to this one you found have been done tastefully (i.e. the refin is not a halfords spray can job) then £300 is on the good side of reasonable. They'll never be (I don't think) super collectable and I reckon the prices would generally hover around the £300-400 mark.. Did you go with the short scale jaguar in the end?
  7. A modern player short scale what? There's a tele bass, jazz bass, jaguar, not to mention the Starcaster and Coronado which were both modern player short scales.
  8. Great bit of kit for this money, I use mine every day, very versatile and looks good parked in the living room, unlike every other bass amp I have!
  9. It's in final test I think. The Line 6 guys are really getting it (unfairly) from the user community, because they announced it a while back as being 'Spring' which was interpreted by many as 'definitely scheduled for 1st March' and when it didn't arrive, people started screaming as if their Helix products had suddenly stopped working (which obviously they hadn't). It's all rather amusing but I feel sorry for Line 6 - they're trying to keep a product fresh and getting beaten for it.....
  10. A snapshot is linked to a preset. It is a variation of a preset where parameters or pedal off/on states can be different. For example, if you had an amp and a chorus and a distortion in your preset, your default preset could have the amp drive set low and the chorus off, and the distortion off. You could then save a snapshot of this exact same preset, but with the amp drive cranked and the chorus on. You could save another snapshot with the chorus on, the distortion and and the amp mids cranked. You could switch between these variations of your preset. Best use of snapshots is changing sounds or effects values mid-song (my guitarist has a rhythm, a lead and a solo snapshot for example) where you are emulating the multiple pressing of pedals OR the changing of pedal settings. This is preferable to switching presets mid-song. It's really cool.
  11. You can assign multiple actions to one footswitch yes, or you can use snapshots. I tend to use the latter for adjusting various parameter levels of the same effect rather than switching the effects on and off.
  12. I have a Ashdown Evo IV ABM 600 - it powers up, fan works, VU meter lights but registers no input signal and there's zero output, Mute doesn't work, footswitch doesn't work. Could this be Internal fuses or something else? Anyone have any ideas? I've dropped Ashdown a line but waiting to hear back. thanks Steve
  13. The newer Dimension was a killer bass. Beautiful compound radius, oiled neck, great weight and balance, 18v active electronics, dual humbuckers. They tried. We didn't buy them because they weren't 'Fender enough'. We don't actually want Fender to do anything other than what they are currently doing, it seems.
  14. Two pitch standing tickets for Friday 21st June for Bon Jovi at Wembley Stadium. Other half is now too sick to go. Tickets are £65 each. I'm in Milton Keynes but can meet up within a fair distance!
  15. Clacton RedFunnel checking in to confirm no knowledge of the gentleman in question...
  16. Try it with an amp and cab, your amp as a preamp, maybe a separate stomp box type preamp and then Direct and see what works for you! There's no real rules as long as you get the sound you want.
  17. Well I'm a serial festival attender and have been since Monsters of Rock 85. I've done loads, V Festival, Reading, Monsters of Rock/Download, Latitude, T in the Park, IOW, Bestival as big ones. I love them. They're not all muddy, they're not all frequented by yobbish lager louts, thieves, drug dealers, and people with no interest in music. The sounds systems have got better and better and the quality of the bands has improved too. I did IOW this year and it wasn't muddy, the weather was kind, the people were great and some of the young new bands around restore your faith in 'proper' music. I saw no trouble, no aggro, everyone just enjoying themselves and the music. The key thing is to go prepared (camping gear, clothing etc) for the weather, for the accommodation, for the type of music and that actually it can be quite tiring. Don't write them off, then can be a lot of fun.
  18. Run direct to the desk as you suggest and try it. Then your only issue is monitoring.
  19. These little Hercules stands work well too http://herculesstands.com/international/products/fretted-and-bowed-instrument/guitar/single-stands/gs402bb/ the cradle arms that the bass rests on are hinged so can move horizontally to accommodate the offset body shape. Not quite as stable as the larger neck grab stands but they fit nicely in a gigbag!
  20. Agree with this, although the 'Original' and the 'Custom Shop 62s' are two different pickups with two different price points.....
  21. I'm having fewer problems than last year but my biggest issue now is having a sound in my head (or from a recording) and having no idea how to use the editor to get the sound right. I'm convinced the pedal can do it, I am the limiting factor.
  22. I run pretty much this setup too with the Helix going in to a BF FR800. The only difference in mine is that I add a cab IR to the signal going to the FRFR. I leave that off the FOH feed as that effectively mirrors a post EQ DI from the amp head. The great thing with the Helix is that you're not restricted to the traditional pre/post DI options.
  23. I've got a Deluxe Dimension V and an Elite Dimension V. Only difference I can tell is the logo (black vs silver), the hard case and the price. The American Dimensions have always had the compound neck and truss rod wheels.
  24. I have one of these - really great and quite light! Might be better with photos of the original pickguard fitted as it looks a lot better!

    Neck Care

I treat rosewood boards with a little bore oil rather than lemon oil once or twice a year. Oil soap for waxed necks then gunstock wax. All depends what your neck is, I guess!
