Wondering whether I should be annoyed that a bass I agreed to buy at the asking price and collect at the sellers earliest availability has been 'sold' to someone else without the buyer telling me......
This is where I try and work out whether an entirely out of proportion response may be detected by Sir Robert Peel's finest. So far these thoughts stay in my head. Can't speak for the future though.
Wrap up a fresh dog-poo in newspaper, put it outside his front door then set light to it - when he opens the door his instinct will be to stamp out the fire 💩
You need to assess different types of neck in conjunction with your playing style. You often see on this forum (and elsewhere) " I have small hands so I need a thinner/shallower neck" when in reality it's not so much do with the size of you hands rather the playing style you have chosen to adopt. The baseball bat type grip will always limit the neck choice more that anchoring the thumb at the back of the neck. You can easily play a deeper (U shape) or wider neck with small hands with an appropriate playing style. Do you know other bass players nearby who you might be able to get together with to check out other guitars?
Thanks. That's what I'm doing - I'm using a FR800 on stage.
I think sometimes because of all the variations and complexity that the Helix can handle, I try to make the most of it, when most of the time simple solutions are best!
So all my signal paths are set to include cab sim blocks (or IRs) after the amp section on all my patches and from there I'm going out to FRFR for monitoring and also DI out to PA for FOH. Same signal to both at the moment.
I wondered yesterday whether I should really be only applying the cab block to the output that's going to the cab and sending the PA a signal without a cab block to effectively simulate a real life DI scenario (as I've hardly ever had my cab miked in the past).
Am I overthinking this? I guess the other option is to do without the cab block entirely. Thoughts on the use of cab blocks?
The configuration is very MM like, although the selector positions 2 and 4 are the opposite of what you'd find on a Musicman. The offset body is less pronounced and smaller overall than the Jazz bass. The pickups are very growly indeed although the neck pickup soloed does a great precision sound. The best thing though is the neck. It's incredibly comfortable as it's a different shape at different points, as is the fretboard radius. Terrible shame that they stopped making them but I guess the Fender buying public weren't ready for humbuckers........... sorry to hijack the sale thread.
Over the last ten days I've been to see Turin Brakes, supported by the brilliant Eliza Shaddad, in Northampton, Leamington Spa, Lincoln and Galashiels. The injunction prevents me from attending any more. The Mac Arts centre in Galashiels was a brilliant venue for such a tiny town; I don't know if anyone here has been there?
Whilst this is two years old now , I've only used it a handful of times and it's in perfect condition. Apart from today it is completely dead. I've tried four power supplies just to check.
Anyone know anywhere decent that could repair this for me?

...hand rubbed oiled, compound radius fretboard, asymmetric neck profile, 18v active circuit, graphite truss rods..
It's an under rated, yet brilliant guitar. I gig with two of the 5 string versions and i love them! Good luck.
I've go a Helix Floor and a Rumble. Rumble doesn't get used much really. I use the Helix direct to PA and monitor through a Barefaced FR800. If you're planning to use it as a substitute for a pedal board then it's a bit overkill I think,. If you want it as your one stop shop (within reason) then it's worth considering.
I know Stephen, but my bands have all changed now and different music calls for different basses. But I have looked after it so well! To be honest, I won't be upset at all if it doesn't sell, but it's not being used very much any more..
I'm seriously considering this as an 'alternative' to my Helix Floor. I currently run XLR out from Helix to Desk and 1/4" out from Helix to FRFR for monitoring. With the flexibility in the Helix Floor I can adjust my monitoring sound and volume independently from the FOH.
The Stomp appeals as I can replicate my amp/cab/effects setup in it but I'm not sure I'll still have the routing flexibility without additional hardware.
The Stomp has the same snapshot functions as the Floor which reduced the reliance on just the three buttons.
Short scale semi hollow bass in fantastic condition with official fitted case. Currently has D'Addario BT rounds on it but flats are really awesome on this too.
Would prefer to have collected. I'm near J15 of the M1 and can travel to meet if necessary (within reason!). No trades thanks.

We record them ourselves as it's only certain elements we need. As far as a click goes, when we need one we put the click on the right channel and send to drummer, the left channel has the backing and goes to PA.
True. These were selling at £1,500-£1,800 and for a non established model I think this was too much for the market. Once you see what you're getting for the money (when compared to a Jazz Deluxe V for example) then the pricing sort of makes sense but people never think of Fender as anything other than Jazz and Precision basses.
You can pick up a very good condition active Dimension V for around £900 which is a lot of bass for the money. I'm looking for a black or white one now. Fender has stopped making Dimension specific parts now too (neck, pickguard etc)
I absolutely love these. I have a deluxe V HH in natural and a cayenne red elite V HH, so both with the 18v active circuit. I also have a five string HH Sterling and that hardly gets played. I'm constantly scanning the small ads and eBay to see if any others pop up.
The compound radius fingerboard and asymmetrical neck are brilliant and the pickups are lovely, although the switching configuration is different to the Sterling and I forget sometimes which is which. The body has a nice size and weight to it. The looks are subjective though, especially the pickguard.
They're discontinued unfortunately as they never really caught on. I had a chat with a guy at Fender and he said it was a real shame as Fender has put a fair amount of effort in to it but it was really difficult to try to get people to buy anything with a Fender logo on it that wasn't a Jazz or Precision.
I have the 5 string Sterling of this PDN model and the finish is remarkable, both on the body and the roasted maple neck and photographs never do either justice. Special indeed.
