I used to have removable castors on an Eden rig. I used to take only the back two off to angle it up slightly.

Issues around tone and volume I can accept (and these can be modified on the fly to accommodate band preferences ) as these need to be right, but size and weight? Unless you've abdicated responsibility for shifting your own gear or you're taking up excessive amounts of room then I think the traffic cone solution is an appropriate response. I'd ask them what their requirements are (as opposed to asking them what their solution is) and what challenges they currently face, then come up with your solution that fits.

The Flea has a lovely sound to it, really nice and different to my other Jazz basses. I let mine go because I found the neck just that little bit too thin. It's narrow like a Jazz neck normally is but it's also quite shallow back to front.

Best rig for weddings and functions and stage sound
Muppet replied to siphillips's topic in General Discussion
Every three/four months as band we set up and do a dress rehearsal. The rest of the rehearsals we do at very low volume so we can talk through new songs without bursting eardrums. At the dress rehearsals we focus on sound quality on stage and front of house and the flow of the set as well as set up and take down of equipment (I know, it sounds a bit anal). Quite often someone's bought a new bit of kit and this helps with how it fits in the mix. This gives us a baseline which means we're not running around during gigs saying we can't hear ourselves or that someone is too loud. Doing that at a gig just gets people stressed. Now if you hate the tone you're getting out of your current setup then, well that's another matter entirely...... -
I didn't like the Bass Octaver, and used the Simple Pitch instead but prefer the Pitch Ring Mod of the three!
-
I haven't got a OC2 to compare it with, and there's only one octave down but it's pretty good. Better than the Simple Pitch one I currently use.

Are you using the stock presets and tweaking using the pedal parameters or have you gone deeper in to the desktop application to get your sounds?
-
Recording with it I find it is fine and for general home playing It's good. I really struggle with it in a live setting though. I can't get the right sound to cut through though this could be more a user error. Works better with passive than with active. I haven't gone really deep with tweaking through the desktop software. From a practicality point of view, there are 99 preset slots but switching between banks is a pain. If you want it as a replacement for a Deep Impact then it's spot on. I'm not good enough to use all the extra stuff that it's capable of, however.

Bloody worth it though

I tried to order a Sterling 5 HS last year too through my local retailer but they said no long available, HH or H only. Oh and the lead time........

Good point. I had the VT Bass and I'm sure they supplied SVT and FlipTop sample settings?
-
I thought that too. A while back on here the question was asked about the differences between the bass driver (deluxe) and the VT bass (deluxe) and the response from Tech21 was If you love the SVT sound then I think you're on a winner!

My guitarist has just sent back his Stagesource ("too ugly, too fiddly and not loud enough") and ordered one of these so I'll see if he'll let me try bass through it...

Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
Muppet replied to Dood's topic in Accessories and Misc
The body of the transmitter is hinged at the jack. I guess this is so that the transmitter jack can fit strat type angled sockets, regular front facing jack sockets and those located on the edge whilst still allowing the transmitter body to sit flush with the guitar body. I have found other bug type transmitters to stick out from the guitar body. I guess if the sticky tape (which is more of a rubber substance) fails then yes the transmitters will end up sticking out of the body. It would probably depend on how loose the hinge was though really. I used it with a nitro finish leaving no marks, although not for too long. I switched to the belt mounting option. As @dand666 says, Chris at Smooth hound will supply extra sticky pads. I don't think its amateurish, but being a bug type product it will always have mounting limitations, I suppose. -
Smooth Hound Innovations Digital Wireless Guitar System
Muppet replied to Dood's topic in Accessories and Misc
Bit harsh there. This a 'bug' type product where you can slot the transmitter directly in to the input jack if you choose. The tape idea is optional if you want to make it more secure using it this way. Every other bug type receiver is the same in my experience. At least the smoothhound can handle many different types of input jacks, unlike several other bug type products. You can also use it the traditional way by attaching the transmitter to a belt or strap. this is the way I do it. If you're used to using many different wireless systems over the years without sticking something to your bass then this would be the way to go. -

Do you mean the bit you plug in to the guitar? That's the transmitter, not the receiver..... -
I had a Fender Coronado that Fender do both soft and hard cases for. Body-wise it fitted the Chowny bass case but the Fender neck was longer, so that didn't fit.

I think Diago got bought out or something by JHS...

I assume Line 6 are now suggesting Helix users go down this route rather than the Stagesource route...?

Previously played with the bridge cover on but the pickup cover just gets in my way! In the end I took the bridge cover off too - no point in keeping it on really.

They'd have been better off with a bit more of a script, or at least more of an idea about how the thing works.

Markbass CMD121P replacement tweeter recommendations
Muppet replied to Rusco's topic in Amps and Cabs
I have a CMD121P and a NY121 extension cab. The cab has a Lpad for the tweeter, but the combo doesn't. On both models the tweeter and the crossover are the same. Rather than just disconnecting the tweeter, I bypassed it and the crossover and connected the amp output direct to the driver. The combo sounds much better without it and if I really need any extra high end I dial it in on the extension cab.
