1. I've just got some of these but yet to use them in anger. What do the Flare Audio guys say? Im sure three uses is no way good enough and just sending some spares just leaves you with the same problem.....
2. That's really good! what are your OC2 settings?
3.
What confused me before is that all the wires were bundled together with cable ties and I wasn't quite sure what was what and to which connector it was going to inside the cab. Once I got rid of the cable ties it was easy to isolate the two wires (red and black) that I needed to connect the input connectors directly to the speaker. I used cable ties again to tidy up the unused wires that are stil connecting the L-pad and the tweeter but no longer in my circuit and job done. The 12" does sound different and, to my ears, better in full range mode.
How did you connect the red and black to the input?
4. I'd be interested to see how you take the crossover out of the loop. To be honest, I'm going to leave it. I've bypassed the tweeter in the combo (so amp>driver) but I can put up with just using the L Pad on the extension cab. Another unrelated thing I found is that the driver in the Italian made cab is exactly the same as in the Indonesian made combo. I was led to believe that these were different.
5. Well I had a look inside the cab. The speakon inputs are connected directly to the crossover. Red goes straight to the driver, Yellow labelled 'twr' goes to L Pad and blue goes from L Pad to the tweeter itself. It's dead easy to disconnect the tweeter obviously but wouldn't you want to bypass the crossover too, otherwise you've higher frrequencies being directed off in to nothing?
6. I'll have a look inside the cab tonight - haven't needed to up to now!
7.
Anyway... Now I wanna do the same to my NY 121 cab. I took the speaker out and had a look inside but it seems a bit more complicated with the L-pad and all that. Has anyone done this too? Please help!
I also did the first mod as soon as I got the combo, but with the NY121 I just turn the L Pad down to be honest. I don't think taking it out of the loop will do a lot more than this really and you retain the flexibility to dial it back in at a later date. If the combo had a L Pad I don't think we'd be talking on here about disconnecting it!
8. Take the bridge off and see if there's a wire there. It won't be soldered on to anything, just set into a tiny indent. That little hole leads to the little indent under the bridge and that's where the wire should stick out of, making contact with the underside of the bridge when screwed down.
9. My friend is in a string quartet doing Stranglers and other covers. They call themselves the Stringlers.
10. I did a loud blues gig once (drummer, two guitarists, violin) in a large pub with only backline using a borrowed AER Amp One. It was tiny and incredible.
11. It's not a different (lower) spec from a version built in the current year is it? I'd be annoyed if it was and I'd paid thinking I was getting a current spec model. If there is no difference then I'd not be worried. The year of manufacture probably never crossed the mind of the supplying retailer.
12.
Not sure those saddles are right for 69 either!
And the saddle screws should be slotted. The whole bridge is wrong. Bearing in mind its a refin, the pickup and bridge cover holes could have been filled in at that time.
13. My looper of choice is the Digitech JamMan Stereo but others are available!
14. I think this looks fantastic, I'm quite jealous of you. It seems they've ditched the VLE and just retained the VPF - a good decision IMO. Ony thing that annoys me is no mute! On the Tube 500 (and I'm sure others) it's a pull-to-mute master volume but this seems missing from this and other MB amps. Small point though!
15. I like it. I'll be the first to admit indie music rarely showcases huge individual musical talent (though I would say there are some exceptions, Thom Yorke, Guy Garvey, Alex Turner to name some well known ones) but that's not what it is about. Things would be even duller if we all liked the same.
16. Two channels can give you two different setups and the ability to switch between them whenever you like, rather than having to adjust your amp. Markbass do this quite often on their amps. This has the ability to store six different amp simulations per channel too it seems
17. I'd start at the Bank 2 Prog 0 program on the FI and adjust the parameters. I set the Note Off to 1 then found most variety adjusting the dynamics and cutoff values. I'm using a Jazz bass, all pickups and tone fully open.
18. Have you asked him for any of his favourites?
19. Depends whether you're looking to satisfy your musical creativity by playing technical but obscure masterpieces or looking to get a buzz out of playing gigs to people who are enjoying themselves dancing to popular songs. If you're dead against playing worn out covers then don't do it. Myself, I'd rather play three hours flat of standard fare to a packed pub than 40 minutes of technically brilliant fag break inducing music to one man and his dog, but I'm cheap and have no principles and love making music for the enjoyment of other folk.
20. You might want to revise the thread title price down from £3k to £300?
21. Beautiful basses these and the U shape neck is wonderful to play. Much better in my option than the 75 reissue model. Great price!
22. There's Rimowa luggage that's aluminium with wheels but it's mega pricey. For much less money maybe a custom flight case? I tend to use those silver pretend aluminium toolboxes from Maplin/B&Q but no wheels.....
23. Sorry been out of the country and forgot to check. No the promoter has done nothing. Not acknowledged our email either but still, he's not published anything. Nothing from MU....
24. I've got a Rumble 500 and Markbass CMD121P (with extension cab too). Both excellent combos but I tend to use the Fender for more rock focused gigs and leave the Markbass for everything else. If I had to choose one to stick with I'd go with the Markbass.
25.
Has anyone on hear taken the plunge? What I really want to know also, is has it got a lot of background noise/ hiss when on but not playing? I bought a vt bass pedal a while back and it hissed like crazy.
Taken the plunge? Err, yes, most of the people commenting on the thread it looks like, me included. I've not noticed any marked background noise but a lot of the time this can be attributed to a poor power supply rather than the pedal itself. Come up the A14 and try mine if you like.
