Same as bass effects though surely? Distortion, overdrive, delay, chorus, all have their uses but don't need to be use all the time. I love the mild overdriven sound but really don't like huge distortion that much.

Now't better than a good ol' Tubescreamer!

Thanks, I'll get back to them. I wonder why they supply a sub standard power supply as stock? Off to buy that regulated one, cheers!

Can you not tighten the truss rod slightly and add some relief?
Didn't know there was an iPad app!
Sorry got my apps muddled. There is a iPad app for the THR10 but it's not an editor like the PC software, apologies!

Is it the first generation or second generation box that you're buying? I believe that they've fixed this 'issue' with the second generation. Indeed I have the second gen and get no clipping using the instrument setting going direct.

Hi Chris sorry for the delay in replying. Yes exactly that. I'm using the power supply that came with it. You'd have thought they'd have checked? I did email the distributor who basically told me to email Tech21. I did that too and they said "sorry must be your UK voltage"... I'll check out another power supply! Cheers Steve

And another THR10 vote. Great sound from such a small thing and editing software for iPad or pc adds masses of flexibility. I run my pedalboard in to it too. For something a little louder I use a Vox Valvetronix VT40X which is also nice

Music shops -any wonder they're going under?
Muppet replied to Jakester's topic in General Discussion
My local shop used to be terrible - one of those shops that stocked three basses, one Squier, one Encore and a MIM Precision on a good day and thought bass strings started and ended with Rotosounds. Then a fella came in who knew what he was doing and turned it around. They'll get high end stuff in just for me to try out, no obligation, will match internet prices and give a small discount for regular customers, will set up all their guitars before they go on display and take an interest in all the folk in the shop. This is the sort of shop that I am proud to have on my doorstep and will support as much as I can. -
Fender supplier did the same with a Blues Junior I bought. Told then I was disappointed when it packed up so they sent me a Hot Rod Deluxe instead.

So I have this pedal - it takes a 9v centre negative supply, no batteries. Power supply comes with it. Works fine plugged in to any amplifier or recording interface. It has a switch that changes the mono 1/4" out to a dual mono signal designed for use with headphones. When using headphones there is awful buzz like poor grounding. I've tried a number of different power supplies and the noise goes away by using the Diago Powerstation. All other supplies give this noise, but only when using headphones. Tried the usual - changed leads, different wall sockets etc... Any ideas why this one power supply alleviates the problem or, conversely, why all the others cause it? Manufacturer doesn't know. I'm about to return it....

For me, thumb positioning is crucial and I tend to subscribe to the Scott Devine theory in the main. I often hear people say "I've got small hands I can't handle a Precision (or whatever) neck, when a change of thumb position and modification of fretting technique would resolve that.

Is this a concern about the front of house mix or just your own monitor mix? It sounds to me like the latter. For the former, your sound guy should know the overall balance that the band wish to achieve as in post #2 and the band should leave this to him, but for the latter it's important for us all to be able to clearly hear our own part. In a monitor mix turning one up often leads to another being drowned out unintentionally. How many different mixes can your soundman supply?

2012 model - Crafted in Indonesia Rosewood fretboard with binding and pearl blocks Hipshot Ultralite tuners Weight 9.2lbs Width at nut 38.1mm (1.5") Fitted with J Retro preamp – original control plate and knobs included Fitted with DR Sunbeams – 45-105 Comes with Hiscox hard case with fully functioning locks and key. This is in superb condition. There is one tiny blemish under the finish on the headstock as shown in the photographs and a tiny scratch on the control plate, just being honest. No dinks or dings on body or neck. The neck is very thin and makes for effortless playing. I will put the original strap buttons on. Price - £650 – no trades thank you very much as I have already purchased one guitar too many! Collection naturally is preferred from Cambs or Milton Keynes, but other options not ruled out.

I did once - started off by email and I ended up phoning them and they were fine with it. They didn't advertise as either willing to ship internationally or not. They were comfortable knowing it was going to the Uk. More concerned about insurance costs and whether there were and additional costs that they would incur. I didn't save any money (and I guess given the current exchange rates that's even less likely now) but I got my colour that was no longer available here. I'd not do it again to be honest unless I was desperate!
Tell me more.....
You can now get them here http://www.hot-rodpickups.com/pb-thumper-precision-bass-pickup-574-p.asp If you do a quick search on Basschat for Wizard Thumper you'll find quite a lot of positive feedback

Odd, it's happened on one out of three of mine too, like it's got glue on it or melted in the heat. I have to wash my hands after using it. No idea why I'm afraid, I just assumed the rubber was perishing...

I love the 62s and swapped out my QPs for them, but my other favourite is Wizard Thumpers. Fantastic P sound. Now made by HotRod I believe to rhe same specs..

The saddles themselves are getting lower as you play? That means the height adjustment screws are working themselves loose, in which case a drop of clear nail varnish works a treat. Plenty of other fender and non fender (Babicz, Gotoh)out there - make sure you get one with five screws!
-
You might just have made yourself their "go-to dep" 😉

I've bought three Les Pauls (guitars not basses) and sold them on. You'd think I'd learn. There's something that says you have to have the holy trinity of Strat, Tele, LP but the last one just falls flat for me.

The Nate Mendel has a slim C but it also has a slight smaller nut width of 41.02mm as opposed to 41.3mm apparently as well as a 7.25 radius against your standard 9.25.

Hands up! who's in a 80's/90' pop/rock cover band
Muppet replied to zonular's topic in General Discussion
Are you interested from an authentic look perspective or is there a particular 80s sound that you're trying to recreate? -
