1. All being well, I will be coming a knocking later in the week! steve
2. At Friday's gig the venue had a rope light around the stage that was set on a fading pattern. Until I asked them to switch it off there was a terrible buzz coming through my rig, especially during the fading up and down part of the sequence. The lights and amp were plugged in to different sockets. I've played here before with no problems but this time with a different rig and bass. Is this an indication of something wrong with either bass or amp that I need to look at do you think? steve
3. It's a semi hollow rather than a full acoustic so has a centre block. I've had no feedback issues whatsoever, and much of the resonance of a hollow is retained so works for me. The Fender Coronado Reissue is the same. steve
4. Are you sure the ones in it now are the originals? All three originally were Groove Tubes. I swapped mine out but I can't remember what for. I asked t eguys at Watford Valves and they recommended some for me.
5. You're talking £1,500 or so for an original Coronado II, not sure that they're worth that. The reissues are fun though as are the Starcasters. You've also got Gibson Midtown or the Les Paul? Ibanez Artcore? Italia or Hagstrom... lots around. I guess if you have a particular sound in your head then you have to go out and try some!
6. The Coronado with the single pickup was the Coronado I - the Coronado II always had two pickups. The reissues are semi hollow, the originals are hollow body (feedback joy). What's your budget and minimum spec? steve
7. Maybe the pins can be blunted at the end, like a blind rivet, so that they don't fall out of the ends? steve
8. Is there an obvious fault in how the pins attach the handle to the case? steve
9. Haveyougotityet haveyougotityet haveyougotityet? not excited much, me.
10. Ah - I see now where you are based!
11.
Mine is being delivered in person tonight
Who did you have to sleep with to get that level of service?! I have to wait until tomorrow!
12.
Actually, the OP plays with bass almost completely off but still has a bass heavy sound?
I read it more that he's rolled off the tone control on his bass, rather than rolled off the bass frequencies. Whatever the rights and wrongs, I think the OP is fighting an uphill battle if his bandmates don't like the sound!
13.
Nice piece of kit this, always wanted to own one of these but I need five strings and I'd just end up selling it again. GLWTS
Thank you very much. If it helps I'll buy you a B string and include it in the case?
14. Hi, thanks for your question. Kitchen scales bring it in at 8lb 10oz (with covers fitted if that makes any difference!) Steve
15. This a Crafted in Japan 1951 Reissue Precision Bass from 2003 in butterscotch. It has been fitted with a Seymour Duncan SCPB-1 single coil vintage pickup (I can provide the original instead if required) and genuine Fender bridge and pickup covers. It has also had a replacement paper-in-oil capacitor fitted. There is a ding on top horn as shown in photos. It has reverse tuners, string though and vintage two saddle bridge. It's a slab body, ash I think, with a maple neck. Strung with 45-105 flats just as it should be. Comes with old but usable hard case. Would prefer to meet up rather than post - I'm based in Huntingdon but can deliver localish or Milton Keynes. Thank you for looking. Steve
16. It's not proper or correct but I have used foam cut from pipe lagging that you can buy in Homebase etc. Dirt cheap and holds up well.
17. I love threads like this. What 'look' are you aiming for, fully reliced (including metal parts) or leaving as it is?
18. T-Cut will work to an extent but is abrasive by it's nature. It will remove scratches by cutting back the lacquer and paint, but too much and you'll wear away the finish. To be honest, I imagine most other scratch removers will do that too! Remember to use a quality polish afterwards to protect the cut paint.
19. I'm not sure a separate dock will work as it will rely on connecting through the lighting port, but in your proposed setup you are already using the iPads lightning port to connect to the PowerBridge?
20. Yeah don't do that though please!
21. Mines a 2012 Skyline DJ4. 12th to bridge pup is 370 mm I agree but distance between pickups is 90mm
22. That's a good deal that there. The little stud was on all instruments of that year. Many people try to sell them on eBay as 60th anniversary editions when they're not (those are completely different animals). Fender did the same in 1996 too, with a different little sticker on the headstock.
23. I had this problem. I used right angled jacks instead. Then I switched to Pedaltrain, problem solved
24. Put a shim at the open (headstock) end and if the neck screws are in the way simply cut your shim to fit around them. An old credit card is the max thickness you should start with. Thinner is better. Seriously, don't worry, it's easy to do
25. Saddles as low as they can be and strings are too high then shim at the closed end, saddles as high as they can be and strings too low then shim at the open end and its trial and error as to thickness of shim. Longer bridge saddle grub screws isn't good as you run the risk of bending the longer intonation screw as you raise the saddle higher than it was designed to be.
