1.
If it is just a plate, then it wouldn't effect sustain as it'll still be making 100% contact.
I disagree slightly. The neck will be 4mm higher in the pocket so the contact patch around the edges of the neck will be less and it will stand more proud of the body. Don't know if this wil affect sustain, but I would imagine that if the neck is less snug in the pocket then it would.
2. He asks for suggestions. Send him the original (or an original bridge) and tell him to fit it and remove the shim.
3. Sure no problem, just send me a PM if you need it.
4. OK, you really didn't get it then did you? They are immediately excluding anyone in the local area (or beyond) who could be perfect for them, allowing them to go onwards and upwards but outside the age range (lower or higher). Audition is out of the question, they've already ruled them out. It was my way of saying "if you're signed and in dire need, don't limit your boundaries unnecessarily - you might find the perfect bass player".
5. Oh jeez lighten up man. It's an amusing quip!! Sorry you didn't get it.
6. I thought current employment law prohibits vacancies from specifying age as well as sex......
7.
Is this the one that can plug into your PC and control your DAW?
I have one and I think you can, as long as it's Cubase or Sonar. I don't think it works with Protools or Logic. I tend to use it mainly for recording the raw tracks then transfer optically to my PC where I use ProTools to mix and master. I have an original CD if the buyer wants a copy. It contains the samples and loops and is needed if you ever want to reset the machine. Steve
8. I use one of these. Cheap, and durable. Someone from here told me about them, I think it was Homer, IIRC....
9. You have to go sound over image surely?? If it were the other way round people are just going to look at you and say "there's the guy with all the gear but he sounds terrible"... If the Ampeg sound is for you then go for it, but I'd imagine they were designed to be compatible with the very distinctive Ampeg head sound.
10. Go with BOD2's first reply and try to understand what your bass sounds like with no EQ (i.e. flat) and what your amp sounds like with no EQ. Don't play with both until you understand what each sounds like, otherwise you'll never know which to tweak when. I find that a little goes a long way and extremes are often bad. Learn to play with one range first and I'd suggest Mid. Listen to what it does when you boost it and what happens when you cut, then set it at what your ears tell you. Then move to the next and do the same remembering that it will have an effect on the first setting that you liked and that may need tweaking again. It's all a process of elimination until you get the right sounds for you. Then usuall minor tweaks for different venues are all that's called for.
11.
Why not put the price in the title? FWIW I think that's a realistic price - Electro Music have a few in at £1k new.
I think it's a bloody good price. Give it a few months and people will be crying that they didn't buy at this price.
12.
Just had a Badass III fitted to my USA fender jazz (brand new off e bay usa seller £42) It has the three screw holes and Quan claim it will bolt straight on using the existing holes This was not the case with my bass the holes didn't line up with the existing ones. And some drilling had to be done. I got a professional guitar luthier to do the job At a cost of £30. (inc full set up) The sound is much improved and you can really get some sustain out of it that wasn't there before.
What year is your Jazz? A BadAss III fitted perfectly to my 2007 Jazz model, AND my 2006 Precision AND my 1996 Precision so I'm with Quan in that it'll fit. Something's not right with your jazz bass. A Friday afternoon model perhaps?
13.
24 minutes! Nice work Muppet. I need to work faster
I thought it would have gone already!! Long live the 'View New Posts' facility.
14. If anyone's interested in these then I can check them out, collect etc...
15. What version D tuner do you have? Mine doesn't seem to have a grub screw of any type....
16. I'd be interesed in hearing more on the Hiscox story. I've flown loads of times with them and never had a problem. I do wrap the guitars in towels inside the case though.
17. I've flown to Spain before with my bass in a Hiscox case. I did lock it, though thinking about it. It was fine, but I did slacken the strings and left the case for a few hours after landing before I opened it.
18.
I have for sale a Rickenbacker 4003 in Jetglo (black)......
Hello, welcome to the Basschat community, tell us a bit about yourself and stick around and join in! I reckon the price is good for a mint example available now, so best of luck.
19. Self indulgence vs crowd pleasers.....!
20. Check out Radiohead's and The Charlatans' approach. Radiohead are getting fans to remix their latest single by making the constituent parts available on the web. Now you don't even have to buy whole songs anymore.....
21. Just realise it's in alphabetical product order? is this intentional? i can see the value if you are looking for a specific thing but I like to read all the new reviews to see what's around and it's a little difficult to pick up.
22. In 'Basschatters Reviews' section the topics in each of the subforums don't seem to be in order of latest post first. But it might be my view, I dunno!
23.
No the musicman pots wont fit because they are wired to a circuit board
It's the knobs not the pots he wants to swap. The knobs aren't wired to the circuit board; they're attached to the pot shafts!
24. I know a guy at Panic Music (official Ampeg repair centre). He's got some intresting things to say about step down transformers and their use with amps, suffice to say he does not recommend them. I'm no techy so I can't tell you the details but if you are interested then speak to Mike. Saying that, I've a heavy duty stepdown transformer you can have for free if you can collect it from Peterborough.
