Three pedals for sale. Velcro (easily removed) on the Malekko and the Mr. Black. All boxed, instructions, as new condition - Malekko Diabolik £99 - these are £139 in Guitar FX Direct, so I think this is about right Mr. Black Eterna (shimmering reverb) £99 - these are £139 in Andertons right now Behringer Superfuzz (BOSS FZ-2 clone, I think) just £9 (nine) - you can buy a new one for £20 Priced to sell, as I'm buying a house so getting rid of anything I'm not using in my new band to raise funds... Prices are firm, as I think they are already very fair. No trades thanks. All prices include UK postage, 1st class. Bank transfer preferred (feedback in my profile sig.)
I can't seem to leave it alone ...Cog Effects Grand Tarkin Bass Fuzz replaces Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian.
nice board as ever how does the grand tarkin compare to the TFR?

Si Poulton recorded a nice example of what a Mr. Black Eterna can do in this thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/252168-mr-black-reverb-pedals/page__p__2658915__hl__eterna%20reverb__fromsearch__1#entry2658915 Not sure what your budget is, but this pedal can do subtle reverbs, but excels at long
agree sounds good Bakerster! so problem is i now after looking on the Fuzzrocious site i want a "Demon" sounds really good, def sounds in rat territory, but after being on that site i also want a dark driving! can maybe see me taking a punt on the tk, as from my "Red 5" custom i know how good cog stuff is.
I thought that the COG Knightfall pedals were in the same family as the Demon / OCD pedals - may be wrong though... Fuzzrocious stuff has just never really clicked with me - bought an OSD (what the Demon was originally called), rat tail, two grey staches, a dark driving and a tremorslo over the years. Sold them all on. The only one that was (to me) really special was that first grey stache. Stupidly sold it!! But he then tweaked the circuit, and the second one I bought, to replace that first one, was nowhere near as good. I do like their pedals, it's just from my experience, I have found better equivalents of everything I have bought from them (aside from that first stache!) - there is a lot of fan-boy-ism surrounding them on the net though.

TK-421x on the board, setup for the new band
-
sounds good - I'll look forward to hearing that all mixed up next month
Even Jon Pearce (ex-Reuben) asked how I got my distorted bass sound!...
what's the band - anything online?
-
I've had a rat tail, blower box and TK-421x. The COG, for me, is a class above. Blower Box boosted bass just didn't sound right to me, and rat tail too thin sounding. COG just dials in right, sounds like i always wanted a RAT to sound

(straight through customs usually too)

So the TK-421x is here!! Spent an hour or so playing at home tonight, through the little practise amp, and it's a cracking pedal I'll get a chance to put it through the old bassman and 4x12 tomorrow night, nice and loud, so looking forward to that... Being able to dial in a bit of quite heavily filtered clean is great... running with the clean set at about 2 o'clock, and filter for the clean at about 1 o'clock. I've definitely changed my view from hating blends to appreciating a good one on distortion (but still think overdrive and heavy fuzz are best left alone).

I have a diabolik, and have managed to get some very similar sounds on some of the settings on a Behringer Super Fuzz - these things are ridiculously cheap, but quite decent if you don't want to fork out topside of £100 for a fuzz. Worth a punt...

Jack bought my DOD octoplus this week - super-fast payment and a pleasure to deal with.

Overdrive: Beta vs Darklighter vs Vintage Microtubes vs Agro
GazWills replied to countjodius's topic in Effects
yeah, still love mine, an ever-present on my board. Agree about the high gain not being to my tastes either, but at low to medium drive, with a little boost to the bass and dialling back the treble a little, mmmmmmmmmm -
-
yeah, tried it last night and it was quite thick / chewy, reminded me of when I used to run a phaser pre-fuzz (though for some reason never tried the chrous in this position)... not sure which I prefer to be honest (though 2 chorus probably overkill for me at the minute)... but damn you for putting the idea in my head of a 2 chorus setup!!
-
same here, was just thinking that. I always have chorus post fuzz - will give it a shot tonight.
-
nice - was going to post that I couldn't see it analog octave, muff and chorus is a hell of a lot of sounds in one box! How is it all wired - octave to fuzz to chorus??
-
nice - another good star wars name no, I like pretty bass-heavy sounds, so a HPF is not really of much interest!

well, after ratmans response above, and some incredibly helpful emails from Tom, I went ahead and ordered a TK-421-X. Can't wait I know people often say that some builders have 'good comms' but that really doesn't go far enough with Tom - I asked him a typically nerdy question before deciding on the 421-X, and before responding he actually looked up my pedalboard on the PYPB thread and then in his email talked me through how the different models of the TK-421 would fare against what I already have. Truly a top bloke, and I'll be glad to have one of his pedals on my board.

paint it green and write Z-VEX on it, $300 mark up
-
hi - it's certainly a little daunting at first. Much as it sounds like a cliche, everyone is different and there really are no rules as to how to set up your pedal board. You've got some nice pedals there, and if you want a starting point, i'd vote ODB-3, then the two fuzz pedals, then the clone theory, then the delay. where you put the preamp depends on if you want to use it at the start of the chain to shape your tone, or at the end, as you want to make use of the DI facility...
