cheers for posting - though they lost me with "One easy way of getting some great bass distortion happening is to use plugins" have an LS-2 in my hands now though, so experimentation ahoy!

Though saying all that, i just saw the sfx S&M... Now more tempted to do that and just send the higher frequencies through the distortion...
Like Ste says. Yes. I would consider having the OD in one loop and the fuzz in the other though then you ca. Blend them together, or blend either with a clean signal by turning the other one off!
Cheers mate, though the actual setup involves 3 or 4 dirts, octave and a chorus, so the pedal example i gave was just to find out if the ls-2 did what i thought it could! I want to blend a distorted clean signal to a signal path that contains several pedals already turned on.. Ls-2 sounds like it'll be perfect.

cool, cheers for confirming! I'm borrowing one from a mate initially, not sure how killer my idea will sound yet

Hey folks so I'm toying with adding an LS-2, or something similar, to my setup, and have a question... Now, say for example my chain goes like this: Bass - TU-2 - overdrive - LS-2 - Amp And say I have the overdrive on at all times, and want to add a fuzz pedal into this setup. I know I can put the fuzz pedal in the loop of the LS-2 and blend it in with my signal (so if the overdrive is always on, I'd have an overdriven tone blended with a 'fuzzed up overdrive' tone, as the signal going into the fuzz is the one that comes out of the overdrive and into the LS-2) My question (long-winded!!) is this - if I split my signal at the TU-2, and one output goes through the overdrive, to the LS-2, then the amp, can I put the second signal that comes out of the TU-2 into the fuzz, then into the LS-2, so I am blending my main signal (overdrive) with the straight up fuzz, as opposed to blending the overdrive with the overdriven fuzz??? I have something more complex than this in mind, but wanted to phrase the question as simply as I could!!! Hope that makes some sense?!? cheers all Gaz

yup - that's a great setup, love the old EHX stuff though the lack of symmetry in the layout is gnawing at my OCD

Quick update, as I've added a Storm 10 It sounds less than average on its own, and cuts a bit of bass, but when you run the BB preamp into it... good things happen!

Hey folks Sorry if I should have posted this in the 'Recordings' section, but wanted to share my excitement on some of the pedal combinations I've been using this week I've been in the recording studio putting down the bass parts for 10 tracks on my new(er) bands first album. We won't be finished and mixed for another month or so, but while I remember what I used, I thought I'd list out some of the pedals and combinations. I've dialled in some (IMO) some pretty cool synth bass sounds this week My favourite tone, and the 'biggest', is a blend of three separate recordings. The first is live bass through an MXR analog chorus, into a bassman 100 and a 4x12 bass cab. The DI was then re-amped twice, the first time through an old deluxe big muff, into an EHX guitar microsynth. The second into a pearl octaver, then through a custom, gated fuzz pedal. The blend of the three tones is massive Both these two DI recordings were pumped through a fender bass mate, I think, or a similar small valve combo. I think in total I used the following on the recordings: Boss OC-2 Pearl Octaver Wren and Cuff Phat Phuk B Xotic BB Preamp Fulltone Bassdrive Storm Distortion 10 Deluxe Big Muff W&C Tall Font Russian Blue Bottle custom fuzz EHX guitar microsynth Pearl Flanger MXR analog chorus Apart from that one track where we re-amped some DI bass, the other 9 were all single, live recordings, with different combinations of pedals... really excited to hear the end product, it's already sounding really big!
Hi Gaz, how do you find the tracking on the Pearl? Also how low does it go? Currently using an EBS which is alright, but fancy an octave up pedal myself, the Pearl OC-7 sounds interesting. Cheers Nick
hi Nick to be honest, they were parts I had been playing before with an OC-2, so I had tailored the lines to the tracking of the OC-2. Didn't have the time to sit down with the pedal and explore that much... but I think bettern than an OC-2. Held notes were not glitching nearly as quickly as with the BOSS.

I'm in the studio this week and been using a pearl octave into various fuzzes, synth bliss!!

best analog up and down octaver for my money is a pearl octaver, if you can snag one on ebay...

I like the bass-specific TS clones too, use a BB preamp and still have an early, pre-MOSFET bassdrive kicking around. I'm sure that loads of other o/d pedals are based heavily on this circuit - I'd heard the new MXR bass o/d was, which is why I'm keen to try it...
