1. just some quick feedback for Dave - bought his 442 filter, which arrived super fast, nicely packaged and as described - cheers dude!
 2.
I really like the MXR M-188 (aka Bass Auto-Q). The Maxon AF9 is also a good pedal but I found it sounds much better with guitar than bass.
funnily enough i owned both of these - the M-188 left me very cold. I thought the 'shimmer' effect was a pointless addition, and the pedal - for all it's numerous knobs - was incredibly one dimensional. With you on the AF-9 though, ace on the guitar, but sounded very uninspiring on the bass... normally a big fan of maxon pedals, but really didn't rate this at all. Still, my Tonefactor 442 red arrived in the post today though (cheers Deej), so hopefull will have something positive to add later!
 3. MXR Octave gone to a good home... just the George Dennis left now. A truly lovely chorus pedal, just not my bag!!!
 4.
Maybe link to some distorted bass sounds you like, might get you more accurate suggestions.
agreed - very personal matter. for me, it's a fulltone bassdrive (running at 18v)... the old version (before they added all the switches!) - goes from pretty much clean boost right through to heavy distortion, only downside is it's not hugely bassy. doesn't cut bass, just, well, not very bassy!! The catalinbread SFT seems to get a lot of love too, but i've not tried...
 5. blimey - a lot of folks don't seem to like maxons!! i have a maxon ad9 Pro, and not only is it an immense deley, i really like the look! was always a sucker for vintage ibanez-style pedals though... I don't care for the sound of many boss pedals, but don't mind the look of their older pedals, especially (in fact only when...) they're really beaten up. DOD pedals look like they should be distributed via christmas crackers though..
 6.
Try not to keep the looper in your chain the whole time unless you're using it loads in a set as they mess with your tone big time. Maybe get a bypass loop for it if possible.
hey joe - yeah, was fearing that might be the case. i'm sure there's just about room for a little looper on my board as well.... unless.... what's the headrush like for tone-killing?!?
 7. in fact, probably enough space for a looper and one of those very pretty looking new little malekko pedals. which colour to get?!!!!!
 8.
Who cares if you dont use it, as long as it look good.
absolutely - that's the whole point of a pedal board! i've actually re-jigged it, and squeezed everything together to (just about) give me enough space for a bass rc20xl loop thing - always fancied a looper (and not enough space for a headrush!!) quest over.
 9. worth considering an electronix submarine - i use mine to add a nice, warm, tubey-ness to my bass... only issue is they're made to order in the states, so no real try before you buy option. good pedals though.
 10.
Beer is a great idea. Tremolo? Mastotron?
beer aside i was thinking about a trem, but not sure if i'll really use it! the mastotron does look ace - and is tempting... already have 2 other fuzz pedals not even on the board though!
 11.
How about an octaver of some sort, or maybe an envelope/low pass filter?
TBH i'm trying to sell my octave pedal (MXR) and recently sold a maxon AF-9 (filter)!!! just didn't ever seem to use them... thanks for the ideas all, but i think i've pretty much talked myself out of just about everything this afternoon - I kind of wish my pedalboard was a bit smaller now!!! maybe i could just put a can of beer there?
 12.
Phase 90 now SOLD
bump - still FS
 13.
You can add more than 1 pedal... Micro-EQ Micro-Fuzz ...
funnily enough i was looking at your micro fuzz the other day - the sound clips sound really nice - just sounds too similar to my crossdrive to justify! (and have an EQ/preamp on the board already). nice looking pedals though...
 14.
Samson wireless?
well, I don't tend to play too many stadiums, so am normally within 2m of my board!!
 15. OK, firstly, apologies for another 'i have one space left on my board' thread! Thing is though, i have one space left on my board!! I was sure i wanted a 2-stage phaser, but after borrowing a phase 45, it's not for me. I don't want a modulation pedal of any kind (so chorus and flangers out too), don't need a compressor and am happy with the dirt options I have. Basically, if anyone can suggest something that would fit in the MXR-sized space on my board, I'd be grateful, as i'm running out of ideas!!! cheers ears
 16. cheers dude, found problem, is actually scratch plate! should be an easy fix now gaz
 17. hi - hoping someone has some pearls of wisdom here, slightly odd problem with my bass! I have a JV series squier p-bass, so it's about 27 years old. I think the pots etc are all original (pretty sure), whilst i have a badass II bridge on it, and a seymour duncan vintage pickup (both added around 3 years ago). very recently, i've started hearing a strange crackling noise when plugged into my amp, which is hard to describe, but seems to be 'static-ey', if that makes sense! it is not a permanent noise, but comes and goes. also, it only seems to happen when i am resting my palm on the strings exactly above the pickup. when i then strum/pick a string, this sort of crackling noise happens, but only as i make ontact with the strings. I have had the pots all cleaned out very recently at a luthiers in bristol. this has only just started happening, so seems to me like something has suddenly broken or worn out, and i think it may be related to the pickup, but that's just a hunch! any thoughts or suggestions welcome! gaz
 18. Got everything sat on a proper board now! Just need to get some better patch leads, and wait for MXR to hurry up with their phase 45 re-issue
 19.
I heard it was a DOD FX25?
i think this rumour comes around because flea uses a dod fx25 (not the fx25B though) on some instructional video where he's playing with chad. and i bought the bass tab for bloodsugarsexmagik when i was learning years ago. it does say phaser for that song. it was clearly written by somebody who knows sod all about effects pedals!!!. a phaser is modulation, and nothing like an envelope filter!!!
 20.
The story goes that it's a Mu-Tron III with dying batteries.
i'd head it was an old q-tron with dying batteries - so many urban legends for 1 bass sound!! either way, def not a phaser
 21.
Here's mine at the moment:
nice - how's the seekwah for bass working out? i've never used one, but always fancied trying, sounds interesting. oh, and no chance i'll be selling that crossdrive - it's awesome! oh, and thanks to a quick sale of my jag, i'm picking up a t-rex pedalboard this week, so will update the lame 'pedals on a piece of paper' picture soon!
 22. Phase 90 now SOLD
 23. i have a lot of pedals at home, and when i'm playing at home, always have either a fuzz, an o/d or a delay turned on... personally, i hate chorus pedals on bass, and have never seen the need/point of a compressor for what i play/use, but horses for courses. for live, i just play a stingray through a fulltone bassdrive and straight into my bassman. no need for a preamp or a compressor for the sound i'm after, just a nice tubey stingray, with the bassman for a bit of drive. have to say the fulltone bassdrive (running at 18v) is a pedal i find myself using whatever band i'm in, and it sounds good with whatever bass or amp i'm using. no other pedals i've used seem to sound so good in so many different settings.
 24. cheers dude - was going to put a new bridge on it myself eventually
