1.
Mike Lull Lakin G&L LB100 All superb.
I'd like to try a Lakin... played a couple of Lull basses and they are great. My G&L LB100 is in the classifieds (not too subtle hint), but is a fantastic bass too...
2.
So that is where it went. I agonised over this when it was at Bass Direct and now I have to do it all over again. I don't really need a P bass having just bought an MJ-4, but then again... it's a G&L and looks a classic specification.
There seemed to be quite a lot of interest in it within the 45 mins I was in the shop, at least one person called up to buy it when I was in the process of paying for it!
3. I have been debating this decision for 2 months, since I first bought this bass! It is a gorgeous, custom order 2015 US made G&L LB100. 2-piece Alder body, 3 tone sunburst. The neck is a number 12, so it is 1 & 5/8 inches at the nut, same as the newer Us Fender P's. It is quartersawn maple with a rosewood fingerboard. Medium jumbo frets, pearl marker dots. Quick, smooth, plays really well. I don't have scales. It is not a heavy bass, but is slightly heavier than my (light) US Fender P. Bass is located in Bristol, the asking price is £50 less than I paid for it from Bassdirect, and I think it was a steal at that price, when you compare it to the spec of other basses out there. It is as new, in fantastic condition. Also comes with the G&L hard case, custom shop spec sheet, signed certificate of authenticity from Leo's wife, etc. £950 - Price doesn't include postage, would rather you pick up from Bristol, or arrange a meet, but not totally against posting. Pics below, they are not brilliant resolution, but hopefully do the bass justice!
4. I just spoke with one of my best mates today, who works as a guitar tech, and has been for the last 13 or 14 years. He said he had set up a bass recently that blew him away, excellent build quality. It was a Jake. These basses are new to me, but at about £750 I'm tempted, he has some nice stuff in stock too!!
5. bump for a bargain, this is really a steal at £85!!!
6. Tarkin sold. Final price drop on the Malekko
7.
Just out of interest - Is it an Ash Body? Or Alder?
It's 2 piece Alder, here's part of the custom build spec sheet:
8. Yes and no, I can't get quite where I want though!
9. I'm toying with trying flats, I wonder if it's the pickup or the pickup placement - it's a little nearer the bridge than a normal P...
10. morning all, I actually picked this bass up 4-6 weeks ago, but too busy playing it to put some pics up It's a 2015 G&L LB100, with the optional quartersawn maple neck, in a gorgeous burst that the pics don't really do justice. Nice weight, and it plays like a dream. It sounds quite unique for a P, I think. So much more clarity to the notes than my 2011 US Fender P, and a lot brighter. I'm actually struggling to gel with the tone of it through my full rig in a band setting, it's a lot brighter / almost hi-fi than I'm used to with the Fender... giving it a proper chance though, as it every other way I love it (cue the inevitable FS thread next month, haha!) The pics from my mobile aren't that great, but it's a looker for sure...
11. Morning - sadly, some big pending bills mean I need to sell a couple of pedals that aren't on the board right now... Pedal is immaculate - velcro on the bottom but easily removed, fully working, boxed, etc. Price includes UK postage and is fixed, I think this is a steal, considering these are £139 new - I'm giving you £54 off Malekko Diabolik £85 (or £80 collected from Bristol) cheers Gaz
12. Morning - I have an unopened set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky 45-100 roundwounds - gift from a mate but a little thinner that I normally use: Price includes UK postage. Cheers Gaz
13. EQD Avalanche Run certainly looks good. I have the EQD dispatch master, and if the big brother sounds as good as that, but with all those options, it does everything that I want! not many demo's or opinions yet though, but I've had two different EQD delays, and they've both been pretty special.
14. yep - I was just about to bump it, will PM you
15. wow, some nice basses here!! I need to snap some pics of my new LB100, if i can put it down for 5 mins
16. well, having owned an eterna, it's a totally different beast. The delays are quite clean, but nothing like a boss DD-3. reverb on it is fantastic, and the delay and reverb together do sound epic. Not much control on the reverb, but I don't miss that - it's a great little pedal. I use mine with a long delay and lots of reverb for volume swells and pads.
17. cheers both... interesting!
