Part 2 Body Restoration body stripped down ready for priming and painting. what do you think of the colour? For anybody wondering the spraycan cap and nitromors cap were just in place to raise the body so it didnt stick to the paper during painting the back of the body was lifted using the neck plate and spacer and more caps placed in the electronics compartment bolted back together for the moment. The plan is to leave it now for a few weeks for the paint to harden. It will then be flatted down again any small imperfections rectified and receive another 6 coats of laquer. It will then be left for a few more weeks before being flatted again before a final buff and polish with a Polishing mop. Then its time to fit the new hardware in black and then i'll take it to a local shop to be re-strung and set up.

One of my first basses, when i started playing was a Westone thunder 1a, was an early model, at the time it was great and i really regretted selling it. Last year i had chance to get a later model. i jumped at it. To be fair it was a 24 year old bass and was beginning to show its age, dings, scratches, dodgy controls. With this in mind i ordered a few replacement parts for it with the intention of rebuilding it to its former glory, now i know there will be purist's who will tell me they never had those bridges, machine heads, controls etc. But for me i feel its enhancing, what i always considered was a good bass. Currently the guitar is in parts, the paint has been stripped off. Initially i planned a dark red/purple colour with chrome bridge, control knobs, machine heads etc. But have since decided to change that to something far more eye-catching, with black hardware. I will update further with pics when i get the chance.

heres my rig, coming together at last...

Just bought a markbass 210p from Kev, a quick and easy transaction and sounds great with my 151 cab. Hope i didn't interrupt your rehearsal for too long?
Not sure about the rating you've given for power: you bought a 30W amp that, you say, compares to a 300W amp; surely you should mark it up. Just an observation: I hope you don't mind. Not in the market for one myself (quite happy with my Trace V4) but Ashdown made my first bass amp and I love valves so I like to keep up with these things.
I can't understand why either. it's a 30 watt amp at the end of the day, for me personally i love the warm sound they give.

I have one too, I love the warmth of the sound, I'm currently running mine through a markbass 1x15 cab, tried it out with that and a 2x10 cab, sounded awesome. Guess what my next purchase is likely to be....

100% feedback for huwgarms, prompt payment, pleasure to do business, hope you like/get on well with the amp. Shame about not having more time to chat, I like the idea of next time. Have fun Matt Sam

another thumbs up for brynn and the team at roqsolid, i ordered a cover last year, when it arrived it was two inches short, I gave the correct measurements and within two working days my replacement had arrived. Definetly use roqsolid again.
I've never seen one there, must be at least one tucked away but maybe Gloucester has them all.
Gloucester? Gloucester's crap for music shops. Aroundabout Sound In Cheltenham, is definetly worth a look.

How many of you have more than one Bass...

Currently have three, My Cort, i bought a few years to get back into playing. A Warwick i upgraded to last year and a Westone Thunder1A, my restoration project. -
nah i hear what you're saying, I will just have to look into it further and test more cabs lol, to get the sound i want rather than get hung up on which configuration is best.
I don't see it going anywhere far, or good. The bit where it is made clear there isn't a link between speaker size and the sound in front of it has been covered already, so there isn't much else to say. Find a cab you like the sound of, add more the same until volume requirements are met.
ooh thats me told then
-
id be interested to see how this thread develops, as in the past i've always liked the sound of single 15" speakers, however as I'm on the lookout for a cab, I'm considering other configurations. The favourite so far has been the markbass 4x10, but like I said I'm still looking. The 2x10 and 1X15 sounded good (ashdown abm), but i wasn't so sure about the 2x10 configuration on its own.

Secondhand Warwick Prices - Wtf Is Going On??
bozzie replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
Must admit i tried a few Fenders while checking out amps, The ironic thing was I still prefer the feel of the Warwick over and above Fenders. At the end of the day its your choice, but i would say stick it out with the Warwick rather than head off to Fender. As Machine head said they are fantastic instruments -
