7.
Thanks for the info, yes the M9 is a beast. What do you mean by "push" at 1 o'clock? Push as in pushing the gain? Could you see if you have the same thing with the bass control as I do? I know the bass control on yours is also a push/pull, but do the mid and treble controls have center detents so you know where the mid (flat) position is? Anyway, I actually called Mesa yesterday and they told me the bass pot does NOT have a center detent since the pot is a push/pull. (glad to know it's intentional and not a screw up with my amp, but that never happens with Mesa
I mean the bass pot pushed in not pulled out. I will have a check on the other pots when I get home from work. Cheers
 8.
Hi all, Just received my new Mesa Carbine M9 and damn....WOW does this amp deliver (as does all my Mesa gear I've owned) Quick question about the bass control.... Is there any reason why the bass knob does NOT have a center detent like the mid and treble knobs have? I know the mid is passive, but the bass and treble are active. Could it have something to do with the bass being a push/pull knob for "deep"? Thanks for any info.
Hi Not an answer to your question, but I have the M6 carbine 2x12 combo and my bass control is set to push at about 1 o'clock. I have been a fan of Mesa gear for a while, I have owned the M2000, 400+ with powerhouse cabs and now the carbine. I have to say the tone and power of this amp is immense, god knows what the M9 must be like. Cheers Thebassman
 9.
Does anyone know where exactly you can buy (or try) Mesa-Boogie Powerhouse (or Vintage Powerhouse) cabs in the UK? No one seems to have them listed for sale. Same question with Carvin cabs. Cheers everyone.
Speak to mark at bassdirect in Warwick. They sometimes have Mesa boogie, I tried out and bought my M6 carbine from there. 10.
Here's one for you! If a bass amp puts out 300w at 4 ohms, but is fitted with an 8 ohm speaker - is there any way of wiring something in series/parallel with the internal speaker to make the amp 'see' 4 ohms and thus put the full welly through the one speaker? I'm SURE there must be a reason why this can't be done? Cheers, James
The internal speaker is probably not rated for the full power output. It's a way of keeping the cost down. You can probably just change it to a higher output speaker. It would need re-wiring though to 4ohms. Someone else more knowledgeable than me could tell you how.
 11.
No problem Pete. This is going away for a bit, it's surplus to requirements but it's not hurting anything and it's easy on the eyes. I'll give you a heads up if I decide to let it go (again) but I think it will well after the silly season at the earliest.
Dohh!! Can't believe I only stumbled upon this thread tonight. Looks great, I will be keeping an eye out for this in the future.
 12.
Thats the 210 The 212 and 115 are 500 alone, I'm pretty sure!
Cool if it is, sounds like an awesome combo. If you get one, or try it out, I would love to hear a review.
 13. Sounds cool, I love the tone of gb amps. Watch out though, it's 500w with an extention cab. Cheers Thebassman
 14. Stick with boogie, get an m6 or if your feeling brave get the m9.
 15.
Might be a tear in the speaker cone.
+1 definitely a possible cause.
 16.
When I just plug in my bass, there is no buzzing/feedback, but when I play the lower strings D/E/A there is a crazy buzz. It's driving me mad - I've changed all the knobs into different positions, sat it on foam made sure nothing was stuck in there. What's the problem? Is it my bass or my amp? (It's a cheap B.B Blaster Practise amp) If anyone wants a recording I'll post one. PM me with any news please!
Sounds like it might be fret buzz. How low is the action? CAn you, or a guitar tech, check the set-up. cheers thebassman
 17.
You'd probably struggle to find a combo loud enough for pubs with no PA support. The only thing I could think of that would be capable would be a 4x10" combo or similar. There is a fantastic combo on here at the moment - a Trace V-type 15" with valve preamp. Fantastic combo but even it needed an extension cab to play pubs. When I had my Trace 7210H 2x10" combo, I still had to use a 1048H 4x10" for pub gigs.
What pubs are you playing?? I used my m6 carbine combo at an open air gig with no pa support. It is 600 watts on it's own and sounds awesome. Cheers Thebassman
 18.
im looking at buying either an ashdown or trace elliot 4x10 cab, but i live in north devon so i cant it up. But i dont want the delivery price to be more than the amp Help please!
Take a look at parcelmonkey.com. I have used them quite a lot good prices and service. They use the big carriers but at a better price than going direct.
 19.
I am selling these loyal friends since I am moving to Malaga. The head is going for £120 and the cab for £200. Will sell the two for £300 in total or would rather trade for a mexican/japanese Feder Jazz with maple neck. Everything works perfectly and looks like new. I am also selling a Samson sr 55 wireless backpack. Please feel free to contact for any question. Jonathan 07951466587
I take it it's collection only on the cab. Where abouts are you?
 20. Hi guys I have my MXR Bass Auto Q pedal up for sale. The MXR model is M188. This pedal is brand new in its box with instructions etc. I have only taken it out of the box a couple of times, but never really had the time to play with it. Anyone not knowing MXR pedals, they are very solid, top quality bits of kit. I am looking for £60 delivered. May be interested in a trade for a decent delay pedal, what you got. Thanks for looking thebassman
 21.
Are the plates glowing red? What year is your one i've seen the mesa 400+'s wired both ways. Does it blow fuses without ANY valves in? I think it may be time to take it back to your tech.
Modern transformers, like in the 400+, are far more reliable, so unlikely to be this. On my 400+, my tech narrowed it down to the standby switch. It had been blowing fuses for a while. The switch was letting too much current through, he checked it with a multimeter in line. I strongly recommend you don't do this, unless you know what you are doing. Lots of voltage and current!! Anyway a replacement was only £15 from westside.
 22.
Hi guys! Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on how much clean headroom/volume you can get with this? I'm after a bit of warmth in my tone - valve warmth - but not really overdrive. The quality of this amp's Overdrive seems to get mentioned a lot, and obviously it's a natural bi-product of 'driving' the amp, but can you still get to a nice gigging volume (my definition being - You're on a stage, good few feet from the amp, and you can 'feel' it, not just hear it [with DI's and monitoring etc, you don't have to be super loud, but nobody can deny it is nice to feel the low end]) without the real overdriven tone coming in? I hope I'm being clear!? I played through one in a shop recently whilst trying out some basses, but I've come away with the amp in my noggin far more than any of the basses. Any thoughts would be great. Cheers. (ps - anyone know of any shops stocking a decent range of Orange bass gear near Bath?)
I don't think that is the ideal amp for clean tone at volume. You might be better off with a full digital or valve state amp. I come from bath and can't think of any good amp shops, I always had to go to London.
 23.
The only reason I didn't want them mentioned is because I've read a lot about them, and too often the second hand prices are inflated. If I could pick one up for the money I'm hoping to spend, I'd love to have one. The vintage copies look the real deal (bar the headstock). Not played one though I have some nice gear, but I'm in Cornwall, so might as well be button moon!
As already said, save your pennies and get the real deal. A lot of basses look like them, but they sure as he'll aren't going to feel or sound like them.
 24.
just over 40lbs. 10+ times more than my MarkBass F500 - but yes, I've been working out
Hi mate So what amp are we talking about, don't keep us in suspense.
 25.
any interest in these lovely cabs?
What are the dimensions. I need something to stick my bassman head on.
