Note: price drop to £450 Hi I have a Mesa Boogie 2x12 for sale complete with Roqsolid cover. It's rated 600 watts @ 4 ohm. It was originally part of a M6 Carbine combo, so has a speakon lead attachment and has the space to house a 2U amp straight into the top part of the cab. The 2U racking mount is already there. I used to use it as a combo, but then took the head out and sat it on top, this makes it much easier to move about. You can obviously fir any 2U rackable amp into this space. The weights/ dimensions are as follows: (H): 30" (760mm) this is to the flat. There is a pemantly attached pull handle that sticks up 4" (100mm) (W): 22" (560mm) (D): 18" (460mm) Weight: 73lbs (33 kg) The cab has 2 heavy duty handles on the sides, and tilt back wheels and a sturdy handle for moving it around. The tweeter control system has a 3 position crossover switch and level control, also a re-settable horn protection switch. These cabs are great and cannot be bought on there own as part of the powerhouse range. The cab is in 9.5/10 condition, no wear or marks on the tolex, just a few small chips on the top handle. It's always lived in the Roqsolid cover and it's certainly done its job. thanks for looking thebassman
Another vote for Genz. I have a Shuttle 9.2 and a Streamliner 900. they are quite different but they sound ace.
+1 for Genz I have the shuttlemax 9.2 and it sounds excellent. There are some great deals on at bass direct at the moment too. Cheers Thebassman
Looks better in real life too! Any other queries let me know!
Thanks for that, looks really well built. Cheers Thebassman
Got mine!!!
Gotta admit , that looks really great!!! If you get time, could you take a few more pics, including the new input/ control panel on the back. Looks like I may be firing off an email to Alex sometime soon. Cheers Thebassman
*My plan is to buy and try a few different used heads and just keep the one(s) I like the best.
That's exactly what I did , great fun it was too. I bought a GB streamliner 600, an orange terror bass and a shuttlemax 9.2. I ended up keeping the shuttlemax, it sounds great with my setup. I then just sold what I didn't want on here, although I couldn't bring myself to part with the orange either, haha. Cheers Thebassman
Played with one for a couple of hours at the SE Bass Bash - they are monstrously loud, my measely 500w MB sa450 head into one literally emptied the hall with the other 30 or 40 bass rigs, because no one could hear anything whilst we played with it. Once again apologies to everyone who put up with my getting very excited with filter sweeps into brown note territory at extreme war volume. Apparently you can jam 1600 watts into one all day and it will just turn your internal organs to jelly... It sounded fantastic, effortlessly loud, but more than that a great tone. Killer cab...
Sounds great, I will be shattering windows with my shuttlemax 9.2 then. Cheers Thebassman

looks like i might have to wait a bit then. Just noticed people sporting some of the other new gen 3 cabs. I probably don't need one of these cabs, but I seriously want one. cheers thebassman

Anyone got there hands on one of these yet? Any pics, comments etc would be much appreciated. Cheers Thebassman
Oh I get it...usually a clean amp like a Genz Shuttle does exactly the same thing through headphones, especially with a zingy Stingray....I just think it goes a little too far. You are either a decent player or you aren't.
That's a bit worrying, i play through a Genz Shuttlmax and a zingy Stingray, so a clean cab may display my poor technique . I currently use a Mesa 2x12 powerhouse cab, and love the tone of this combination. I am after something a bit lighter and more manageable, that's why i was looking at maybe either a 1x12 cab on it's own or maybe a pair of 1x12's. I guess i could just get a light 2x12. cheers thebassman
-
I guess this could be asked of any other cab manufacturer really. I am looking at replacing my 2x12 cab with either a single 1x12 or maybe a pair of 1x12's. I have been reading on the Barefaced site, new Gen 3, about one of their 1x12 cabs equalling or beating a good 2x12 or 4x10 for loudness. Will this still apply to overall perceived volume? Will the old statement of "it's all about surface area" still not apply?, i.e. needing more cones. Also would a 1x12 on it's own need to be mounted on a stand/ box/ beer crate? so you can get it nearer your ears. I always use my own cab for on stage monitoring, we haven't got a good enough PA for me to go through the fold back. cheers thebassman

thebassman replied to thebassman's topic in Amps and Cabs
I ordered mine at the beginning of May, Alex offered to change my order to the new range soon afterwards, so I had to wait over 4 months to get mine. But I do have the satisfaction of owning the first Super Twin!

My Super Twin is in transit and will be here today! :-D I ordered it over 3 months ago and the wait has been painful but hopefully my knee won't be in future! Typical, our singer's ill so no gig tonight and after a flurry of one a week we don't have another one till November! Will be pushing for lots of band practices ;-)
I see, that makes sense. I might have to make any enquiry as to the lead time, i should imagine there has been a bit of a mad rush for the new cabs though, so i am guessing it will be a couple of months at least. cheers thebassman -
Excellent, report back?. Just had word from Alex, mine should be with me Monday.
Excellent news. How come you guys are getting your new cabs so quick? Have barefaced majorly increased turn round time? As soon as I decide what cab(s) to go for, looks like I might be pressing the button too. Lightweight Cabs to Complement Orange Terror Bass 500
thebassman replied to 41.2Hz's topic in Amps and Cabs
It just struck me that way back when, when i was in my late teens (more years ago than I care to contemplate) with aspirations of being a rock star, I was making a racket using a big ole Laney all-valve 100w amp and a mahoosive 2 x 15 cab. Here I am after all this time back with a very similar setup, but at a fraction of the weight!
I think we all were, back in the day, but things move on. I have an orange terror and my main amp is a Genz Benz shuttlemax 9.2. This thing is 900 watts and weighs about as much as a bag of sugar. It also sounds a lot nicer than my old cast iron 80's amp :-) Enjoy Thebassman -
Alas not. I think Bassmayhem mentioned he had ordered one earlier in the thread...?
Looks absolutley stunning!! I will have to ask him what he payed. cheers thebassman
Haven't had a chance to read that yet. Any news about the handles ...
Hi jack In Alex's new hardware spec, they have new uprated handles and feet on the smaller cabs, recessed handles on the big cabs, amongst other stuff. Cheers Thebassman -
Hi guys Just noticed the barefaced Facebook post regarding the new 3rd generation product range upgrades. New updated drivers and hardware upgraded. Looks very good, have a read: http://barefacedbass.com/technical-information/12XN550.htm Not too sure whether this is now live or coming soon. Cheers Thebassman
