1. Interesting. Nice build quality. The drivers look like PR300s, in which case the FH500s will be usefully louder at the bottom end. However, as Pete and co. rightly say, the problem may well lie elsewhere.
2. I was suggesting an alternative to buying a 2 x 15 or adding another cab. It's not really clear to me what the actual problem is. I doubt if any of the Genz cabs are loaded with the 12fh500.
3. If you're prepared to do a bit of research and ask a few questions, your best bet might be to upgrade your drivers to something like the Faital12fh500, assuming you like the Genz cab. These, I believe, are the ones in the top-of-the-range Vanderkleys and probably not a million miles away from what Barefaced is using now: http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/faitalpro-12fh500-8ohm-12-500watt-pa-speaker-p-1174.html You'll be able to sell the drivers that are currently in the cab to reduce the overall cost of the exercise.
4. I fear we might be in for a spate of threads saying: 'It's arrived! Here's a photo of it in my living room."
5.
I've peered through the ports and the little bits you can see inside look hugely tidy.
Usually a good sign.
6. So what's inside these TKS cabs? Does anyone have any pictures of the interiors?
7. 'Clanky' is a good description for the Quarter Pounders. I thought they lost the P-Bass sound. They're loud though.
8.
Just nicked this from the TKS Facebook page - the new 1126's will have a top bar handle instead of a strap handle... nom nom nom!
Almost as nice as this:
9. Well, the cab definitely says ABM on the back plate. I know the ABM range has used both blue and black drivers. Should anyone prefer a blue ABM speaker, I have a spare that I could fit.
10. I just bought this ABM cab on eBay. Unfortunately, the advertiser got his measurements wrong and I thought I was getting the more unusual mini version. What I have is the standard Compact 115 (420mm deep) and it looks relatively new and not very used. It's this one (except that it has the newer, black-cone driver): I've told the seller that his ad was incorrect and that I intend to return it, but to save the hassle of doing so, I'm offering it to Basschatters for a few days just in case someone would like to benefit from the silly price I paid for it. As you may know, they sell for £359 new and regularly fetch £150 on the bay. Collection from Dorchester welcomed, but I can also ship.
11. I'm not sure that someone who has already spent £2,800 on a Bose L1 and is considering buying a second one really "knows what they're doing", but saying so would probably be considered rude - and that wouldn't do.
12. Love it, me.
13. Doesn't anyone need a quality mixer at the moment? I could be interested in some kind of deal with a Markbass LMIII or an Ashdown ABM 15 Compact....
14. I think I need to bump this......
15. I'm surprised I'm having to bump this but I appreciate that money is tight.
16.
Sh*t. Or something that sticks like it . . . . .
I bought some of that last week. One word in the name says it all - and it's not 'sticks' or 'like'. It's supposed to stick to wood. It doesn't.
17. Bought a combo from Rich. Everything went well and it was nicely packed up and sent out quickly. The amp was exactly as described. Deal with confidence.
18. Stuart bought a cab from me. The deal went through really quickly and there was no messing about. A1+++, as they say.
19. I've just had a quick look. This appears to be outstanding. Great production values too. More, please.....
20. 2 x 4 by 8" is 1960s speaker technology.
21. The next step. by the same process of elimination, is to find out whether it's the cab or the amp that has the problem. If it's the cab, I'd open it up and check the wiring and the crossover. It sounds like the amp is trying to drive a load that is under the minimum allowable, but that's just a shot in the dark.
22.
Apologies if I've misunderstood, but wasn't this mentioned in the original discussion (a year or so ago, in the thread mention above by the OP) as a possible consequence if the driver was fitted in the Warwick cab ?
It was mentioned in that thread that the Warwick cab was probably a bit on the large side for the driver (which would reduce power handling), although we didn't have the exact dimensions to go on.
23. The speaker was definitely overdriven but there is no reason to assume that this driver was mis-tuned in the Warwick cab.
24. Very nice indeed. Thanks.
