Well im looking at getting some 12" Bass drivers and there are alot on the market. I was hoping that people could give their opinions and experiences on the differnet ones availbale on the market I havent been able to find any comparisons anywhere. Im kinda looking at Celestian Neo green labels or Eminence Delta or Deltalites.. whats the general consensis?
You need to be a bit more specific about your needs. Otherwise it's a bit like asking people what car they recommend.
Agreed, but the Tubetone adds something more than distortion....I dont know how....its pretty cool but yeah its like tube grind basically!
Yes, I can appreciate what it does, and it's well executed. But valves only add second harmonic distortion - they don't add any other magical ingredient, no matter what toob fans would like to believe. [edit] They also add compression, but that's already sorted on this amp.

Tubetone is distortion and Tweetertone is a treble control. You have to look through the bullshit a little bit. Thoroughly enjoying my 450 Classic. The compressor is superb and the 'bloom' (dare I say muddiness) of my Trace Elliot has disappeared.

400w power amp
stevie replied to samuel's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Go into his profile, the comments left doesnt suggest your correct on this, not my place either but dont think you should be mud slinging in a persons advert.
Plus, there is no mention of a power lead in the ad. It may be usual to include one, but unless you were assured there was one, I don't see that there is any cause for complaint. I mean ... the amp was only 25 quid. -
The Me 15-200 is exactly that a 15" 200W speaker Qts 0.59, Vas 224 l,Qes 0.67 fs 46Hz if you want the T/S parameters. It was probably made in the early 1990's
Or the 1980s. The current equivalent is the Beta 15. If someone sold me an Ashdown ABM cab and I found out they had installed one of those, I'd be mightlily pissed off and would want my money back. I'd expect to find that kind of driver in a Behringer bass cab.

Hi(gh) Heel(ed) Sneakers - we've had a CEASE AND DISIST email
stevie replied to Funkmaster's topic in General Discussion
If memory serves, High Heeled Sneakers is itself a worthless and totally derivitive song - just another reworking of a standard 12-bar blues. If I could be bothered, I bet I could find half a dozen earlier works that are indistinguishable. I wonder how much that lawyer's letter cost. Still, I find it quite wonderful that little Tommy Tucker is threatening to sue you! You'll be able to tell that story to your grandchildren. -
That would seem to be a logical and even-handed solution that any reasonable party (ahemmm) ought to agree to.
For what it's worth, I hate threads like this, see my reply to the Bassdirect trial last night.
If you don't mind my saying so, you're not helping. Try to stick to the issue in hand and don't get personal. Humour is not covered by these remarks, of course - just make sure you're funny.
geester, im right in thinking you got the amp in soundcontrol.... your reciept with have the serial number on it....
So why would Sound Control sell a 110V amp? [Edit] I think the problem amp was bought from Guitar Guitar in Birmingham. If it was a 110V unit, I would expect the receipt to state this.

Eminence GAMMA 15 2 8ohm 15" 300watt Speaker
stevie replied to lloydbent's topic in Repairs and Technical
Hi i blew the speaker in my eden nsp115 cab, and was considering one of these as a replacement... Eminence GAMMA 15 2 8ohm 15" 300watt Speaker anybody used these before? are they a decent replacement? cheers
It's a bit cheap and cheerful really but typical of the quality you'll find in a lot of bass cabs. If that's what you want, it will do the job. However, if you want a quality sound you'll have to pay more - or go the secondhand route. That cab (from what I can gather) probably deserves something better. -
The point is that, legally, it doesn't matter whether the retailer knows. If he applies the description he is liable for any inaccuracy that description. I'm sure Mark hasn't for a second intentionally misled his customer, but as the seller he is still liable under the act for the inaccurate (albeit innocent) description.
In a nutshell, that's it.
Because I'd say it's relevant.
On what basis?
-
But where does the liability stop?
Why confuse the issue? We're only concerned with this one particular sale.

From the Citizens' Advice website http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_w...n_you_buy_goods Worth looking at in its entirety, but below are a few sections I've picked out that seem relevant. When you buy goods the law gives you certain rights as a consumer. The law says that the goods must match their description. This means that if there is a verbal or written description of the goods, it must be accurate. There are a number of things a trader is not allowed to do when they sell you goods. These include making a false description about goods. You will not have a right to a refund if a) you examined the goods when you were buying them, and the fault you want to complain about was so obvious that you should have noticed it or the trader pointed out the defect that you now want to complain about If the goods you bought from a trader are second-hand or seconds, you still have all the same rights as if the goods were new.
The key point to make here that this is optional and if you don't want to change anything then you don't have...
Hello, Mr Ashdown person. I wish you every success with the launch of the miBass but my question has to be asked: has anyone at Ashdown considered the wisdom of making a ten quid optional extra this product's main USP?

Problems with Tecamp Puma 100 and help with WinISD
stevie replied to pete.young's topic in Amps and Cabs
Here's some info on the Sica: http://www.teamaudio.fr/en/sica-10-l-2-5-sl-8ohm.html. Cost around £80. It looks quite good as far as you can tell from just the specs and Sica do make some quality drivers (Ashdown use some of their cheaper models). It's probably worth rescuing if you can get hold of a recone kit and can put up with the hassle of organizing it. The spec says foam surround. Is that right? If so, you will find it hard to get a replacement that will go as low, although the Celestion I recommended will do it. I read that this driver is available in a number of impedances - so check whether you have a 4- or 8-ohm version before getting a replacement. It might also be worthwhile dropping Tecamp an email. -
He said in passing that the amp will produce its maximum output into either 8 or 4 ohms. That's quite interesting. I agree about the Superfly. They've had 12 years to refine it.
Ooh dont know about wires, all sealed in, so how do I check?
You would have to measure the resistance using an meter. By the way (and please don't think I'm insulting your intelligence here), the first thing I would do here is plug the basses in and tap the polepieces with a small screwdriver to make sure both coils are working. I'm sure you've done that, but might as well mention it just in case.

Problems with Tecamp Puma 100 and help with WinISD
stevie replied to pete.young's topic in Amps and Cabs
Stevie, why do you think that? It's still fine above 'C' and is OK at lower volumes. I'd expect a transistor to either work or not.
Oops, sorry... (hitting myself over the head) I didn't read carefully enough. As far as replacement drivers are concerned, I wouldn't worry about modelling them, just get something close to the Spica specification. For a budget 10 with a ceramic magnet, one of the Fane Sovereigns would be good. If you want some real quality, look at the Celestion NTR10-2520E - at a price (although there are more expensive options around). LawrenceH has been trying that one out recently and maybe he'll catch this thread. I wouldn't bother with the Deltalite personally - the Celestion is a much better driver at not much more money. -
I do have some inside information but I'm saying nowt as it's not conclusive and Chris may be perfectly right that Mark likes his toys.

Wired series is a louder than wired parallel. Whether that applies here, I dinna ken.
