That sums it up very nicely.

If you have to turn your tweeter off, there's something wrong. A decent tweeter won't add distortion; it will just reproduce the signal you send it. Cheap tweeters, on the other hand, are best turned off anyway.

The credit card company blocked payment initially but it's now a disputed transaction. I think that means I might have to go through the rigmarole of formally disputing the transaction and providing proof, etc. etc. The insurance was provided by FedEx themselves to the full value of the item. Poacher and gamekeeper indeed.

This has the potential to become a long-running saga. I'm waiting to see what they say about my insurance claim, and I've disputed the £350 credit card charge that came out of nowhere with no explanation. It's taken hours of my time. Then I have to make sure the customer's happy, which probably means supplying a replacement cab without the drivers. When the time is right, I expect to be following @RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's advice by taking this to social media. The photo of the damaged packaging is a real shocker.
-
Yes, let's look on the bright side.😁
-
The cab itself didn't suffer water damage. It was sealed in a thick polythene bag - then placed inside a Hotcovers cover, which as many of you know is very tough and protective. The top and bottom edges received edge protectors all round. This was then packed in a double-wall cardboard box custom-made specifically for this cab. It does look like the clingfilm trick might have helped, but I'm also taking Beedster's warning seriously.

It gets worse! 🤒 Barclaycard just called asking me to confirm a transaction with FedEx - for seven times the price originally agreed. Fortunately, they had declined the transaction and I have an emailed quote showing what the price should be. I've put in an insurance claim but I'm not holding my breath.
-
What an excellent idea! Thanks, @Dad3353.

Thanks, @Dad3353 - that makes sense, but it doesn't explain the smashed corners. So it must have been dropped quite badly as well.

I contacted FedEx in the UK and they said the consignment was delayed because of damage to the packaging. They didn't say what the damage was and proceeded to deliver anyway. I received the photos of the damaged packaging from the customer this morning and have been wondering how exactly to approach FedEx about it. The shipment is insured via FedEx. This is the first time I've used this delivery service. I think @wateroftyne is right. The people I contacted in the UK were friendly and efficient but I suspect the warehouse people in New Jersey are throwing parcels around for a laugh. I've never seen anything as bad as this.

Some of the plastic corners are broken, which isn't too much of a problem as they're easily replaced and they've done their job of protecting the most vulnerable parts of the cab. There are also two screws in each corner - so I doubt that the cabinet itself has suffered any structural damage. There are some chips in the paintwork and some small dents. The chips are fixable - not sure about the dents; it depends how big they are. We don't know yet if the speakers have been damaged.

A big shoutout to FedEx, who shipped the first LFSys cab to the States this week. This is what we sent: and this is what arrived in New York (five days late): Scroll down for the reveal - > > > > > > > > > > > > The box was plastered with Fragile stickers, by the way.

The most difficult thing about getting a Bash off the ground is finding an organiser. So, if you're prepared to do it, Simon, please make a few inquiries. The South West Bash is held in a village hall-type venue and it works very well.
-
A morning start is usual with these Bashes. Can you think of an alternative venue, @SimonK? I think there would be enough bodies to make it worthwhile.
-
This was one of @Phil Starr's excellent presentations at the SW Bash. There was indeed a GR cab at the shootout. The cabs tested were the LFSys Silverstone, LFSys Monaco, Barefaced BB3, GR 2x12 (don't know the model) and - over to the left in the photo, RCF 745.
-
Nice one, @Merton. I was just thinking out loud really. I could wrap it in brown paper I suppose, or bubblewrap. Because of the length limits (I'm guessing they're about 1 metre high when flatpacked), postage could cost as much as a 30kg parcel. It might actually be best to send it as an empty box. 😁

-
I'm in! The only thing is that these Bashes are normally held on a Sunday. A church or church hall might not therefore be the most suitable venue.
-
There seems to be plenty of interest in this part of the world. All we need is an organiser.
-
Bookmarked to watch later.

The Sade track is well recorded and I listen for a few, specific things. Is the voice deep enough or is it thin? Can you make out the separate pitches of the bongos or do they sound the same. Are the backing vocals clear or do they merge into the background? Does the bass sound like a Stingray or just any old bass? Does the kick drum have impact? And so on.

@scrumpymike You buying?😁
