True. The mirror front plate doesn't bother me, as I normally don't change my settings during a gig, but I do have to peer at it and squint before the gig to make sure the settings are where they should be.

The Big Fat South-West Bass Bash - Now Sunday 19th September 2021

It has to be said: a really nice venue. -
Yes, that's interesting. They're the Mesa distributor for the UK. One of the reasons that manufacturers like to use "OEM drivers" is that they can make this kind of obscene profit margin and not be found out, although to be fair, Mesa don't indulge in that kind of nonsense. Also, we don't know whether the ripoff is taking place in the USA or in the UK.

Piano is a much more exacting test of sound quality than bass. You can get away with a lot with bass guitar, but keyboards - and particularly piano - reveal shortcomings fairly quickly. It's not that you can't hear the the shortcomings with bass, but piano makes them more obvious. -

Indeed. It's the first build I'm aware of that's based on the plans rather than the CNC kit. Perhaps not surprising, as Richard is responsible for producing the plans that appear on the parallel thread. -

The Big Fat South-West Bass Bash - Now Sunday 19th September 2021

Attendance & Gear List: 1. @Frank Blank’s Acoustic Corner - Godin A4, Rob Allen Mouse, Ibanez SRC6, QSC K12.2, Helix Stomp, HX Edit. 2. @Rich's Garden Of Delights - Shuker custom 5, Tanglewood acoustic 4, EBS Neo 2x12 & probable new amp (tbc) - both basses strung with nickel Elixirs. Possibly some FS stuff, details tbc once it hits the paid Marketplace. 3. @wrinkleygit, Jabba’s Semi Hollow Fretless, ‘72 Gibson EB0, SWR Working Mans 10 combo & 1x10 ext cab & a set of h’phones. Both basses strung with Labella flats 4. @scrumpymike Setting aside a bunch of FS stuff to give SW Bashers first shot and minimise packing and shipping work/costs. Unless cash flow dictates earlier sale, this will include: a couple of BF cabs (either SC Gen 3s or Two10s, to be decided); BF One10; Maruszczyk Elwood 30" scale; Spector Bantam if still unsold (already posted FS); Eden WT550 if still unsold (already posted FS); Ampeg PF800. 'Keepers' also on display will be: the other pair of BF cabs; my no. 1 gig bass 'Rascal Mervyn-Lyte; 'Rascal Lyte Mkll - provided I can decide what it's going to be in time for AndyJr to build it; my no 1 gig amp (Subway 800+); my old no 1 gig amp (Genzler Magellan 800). All of which will hopefully bring forward the day when Mrs Scrumpy can finally join her old man in retirement 😁 5. @Pea Turgh My Frankenstein Jazzguarman(!) strung with D’Addario XL Chrome flats. My black bitsa (same strings). Probably my Peterson combo which I’ll flit between selling and not selling (still). 6. @stevie Ibanez SR1200-VNF, Ashdown RM500, BCcab 112, plus some other bass cab developments (probably) 7. 8. 9. 10. 7. 8. 9. 10. -
With a B&C neo 8 in the box, it's likely to be good - so why exaggerate the specs like that?
-
And 103dB sensitivity to boot! From an 8" driver.

Blue Aran have these on offer at the moment for £11. That's likely to be a lot cheaper and less trouble than getting a replacement diaphragm from the Mesa distributor. https://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=PAUPHT406&browsemode=manufacturer

The One Ten cab uses a 10" Eminence driver with a 2" coil, rated at 200W maximum according to the AES standard. Sure, you can use a 600W amp with it if you're careful , but I'd be very wary about actually putting 600W into it.

Stevie’s 12” FRFR Cab Build Thread (Basschat Cab v3)
stevie replied to funkle's topic in Amps and Cabs
It'll sound fine that way up, but if I were intending to use it like that all the time, I'd turn the horn round to increase the vertical dispersion of the compression driver/horn. The cab is quite low down and you'll hear more of the important upper mids with the horn reoriented when you are standing close to the cab. Unfortunately, turning the horn round means taking a jigsaw to the baffle, but it's a fairly simple task. The good news is that the horn frontplate is square and you can therefore use the same holes. I'd love to claim that there was a great plan, but the fact that the cab works like this for rack gear is pure serendipity.🙂 Looks good though (although it's definitely going to need four more feet). The question is: where to put the badge? -
That's a very insightful and well produced review. Alle Achtung!

Yes, I agree.

If this were a cardioid design, which is extremely unlikely from its appearance, you'd think that Bergantino would at least mention it in their publicity material. As it is, they don't provide any explanation at all for the rear facing driver. I'd say that @owen has the right idea. They do claim that the cab has a 3D sound. ‘Holo-Graphic’ to be more precise. Anyone expecting anything technically interesting about this box can probably move on. This is a product of the marketing department IMO. It's interesting to see that they are now using a compression driver and constant directivity horn instead of the bullet tweeters in their other cabs.

Here's a drawing of the handle with some more information. This one shows the cutout diameter as 147mm. And yet another that doesn't tell you much but at least gets the cutout diameter right. 111252_2.pdf 111252.pdf -

Luke, I'm not sure how you can do that, but if you can, it would be great. You have the advantage of also having one of the handles - so no doubt you could check the dimensions against the real thing. I found another slightly different drawing of the same handle somewhere in internet land. I'll have another look to see if I can find it. I appreciate the input. -
Stevie’s 12” FRFR Cab Build Thread (Basschat Cab v3)
stevie replied to funkle's topic in Amps and Cabs
Exactly, Luke. Notice that there's no locational information for the mounting holes, which look as if they are evenly spaced. Also, you definitely need a 150mm hole in the centre. It won't fit in a 148mm hole. I speak from experience. -
I'll keep my eyes peeled for a 1600 or 1700 then. They both look knockout. I fitted Gotoh Resolite tuners to the 1200 to try to lighten it a bit but I didn't actually notice any difference in practice - which I found a bit strange.

That's bitumen sound-deadening sheet. It's not a critical component if you can't find any.
