  1. This is true. You also don't want massive monitors if you're playing pubs. I use the Wharfedale Titan 8s. They're dinky and plenty loud enough.

    AA Craaft?

    Good point.

    AA Craaft?

Craaft are a well-estabished company based in Bavaria.I don't think they're involved in bass guitar cabs any more, but they manufacture quite a wide range of PA cabs. Last time I looked, they were the only German company making their own sound reinforcement drivers, and these were high quality. I think there's every chance this is a seriously good 4 x 10" cabinet, although whether it's worth the asking price is a matter for the buyer to decide.
  4. Nobody complains louder about cab manufacturers' specs that me, but by and large their published power ratings seem to be on the level. They're provided with the power handling figures by the driver manufacturers and any attempt to fudge them would be tantamount to lying to their customers. As far as I can tell, there are very few commercial cab makers who feel they have to resort to that. Frequency response and sensitivity - now that's a different matter.😀
  5. I can't believe I'm having to reduce the price again. This is a beautifully made, top quality compressor with lots of features and a great sound. I had a Boss compressor prior to this one and the difference was night and day. Now £60.
  6. Yes, you're absolutely right. Only a few months ago, TH500s were being snapped up for £500 - and that's without the bag. There seem to be a lot of bargains at the moment. I suppose people are paying off the credit card after their holidays.🙂
  7. A genuine Trace Elliot replacement. These don't come up very often.
  8. It would be good if bass amp makers fitted a high pass filter as a matter of course. It would only cost them pennies. I know some do, but none of them provides that information as far as I know.
  9. At just 2kg, Beedster, it's not going to weigh you down.
  10. Price now reduced by £25.
  11. It looks like a budget version of the SM212. There's no info on the Beyma website, but might well be a direct swap for the SM212, which has gone up in price by about 20 percent in the past few years.
  12. If you send it to me, I should be able to fix it for you. Let me have a photo first.
  13. Agreed. None of the crossover parts are likely to be " out-of-date, super-specific high end". Caps and resistors will be marked with their values and any electronics person with half a brain should be able to order replacements from a specialist supplier. You're unlikely to need a complete crossover. The coils might not be marked and will have to be disconnected and measured (if that's where the problem is). If the caps are blown, the markings might have disappeared. In which case, you simply open up your second cab and have a look. KEF have a reputation for good service support and will probably send you a diagram of the crossover if you ask them. If you don't mind my saying so, your repair guy is either incompetent or lazy.

Colin bought my broken Behringer equalizer - fingers crossed he manages to fix it. Lovely chap and a pleasure to do business with. Stevie
  15. Hi Funky, I'm in Dorchester. It's the right side of Dorset for you, but still a bit of a drive. You're welcome to come and try it out any time. Stevie
  16. I could ship this at cost, which would be about £12.
  17. Price drop to £65.
  18. Thanks, funky. Yes, this is a real high-end device with great punch and clarity. My favourite setting was in fact the mid mode.
  19. In response to questions, I'd expect insured delivery to be about £10.
  20. Here is a pair of working 1" compression drivers. I'm not sure what make they are, although they look like P.Audio. 8 ohm, standard screw-in connection, not that heavy (maybe 1kg each). £5 for the pair. Can post at cost.
  21. This is one for experimenters. I used this JBL cab for trying out different 12"drivers, but it now has to go as part of a general workshop clearout. It's a very sturdy, lightweight cab made out of polystyrene structural foam. It contains the JBL 2416h horn, the crossover (which I'm pretty sure is working), and the grille. Speakon and jack inputs. No bass driver of course. Just fit your own 12" driver and you have a lightweight bass guitar cab. Or stick a compression driver in there, connect to the crossover, and you have a full range system. It was a bit difficult photographing the cab without a driver in. The grille isn't normally as see-through as that. It's well used, but looks the part. £10. You'd pay that much for the badge alone on eBay. Pickup is preferred but I could ship at cost.
  22. Can we have a look at the business end to see what it is?
