Simon Please bring your Cij precision ? I'd be interested to compare it to my cij jazz. Will also bring my stingray copy as its surprisingly good.
Happy to bring the CIJ Precision. Its actually modded with EMGs and a Badass, so its not stock, but is a very nice gigging bass. I may bring the Classic 70s Jazz with Delanos and J-retro as well, and make a complete set!

GuitarGuitar had some very nice stock when I was there a few weeks back, and they seemed pretty helpful.
tried some mex P's at PMT and they were pretty awful as was the service unfortunately.
Really? That's a shame. I've not been to PMT for a while but they used to be very helpful (certainly compared to the old Sound Control).
So did we fix a date/venue ? Can probably attend
Yep - 20th November at 5 Ways Pub Sherwood. Luke (Tait) has booked the venue and started a list of attendees.

What Songs in your setlist do you hate playing?
simon1964 replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Highway to Hell. I hate the song, and it has the most tedious bass line ever. But the punters seem to like it. -
member 321! your spam boat is up, and I'd reccomend some wizards for those slam dunks. back on to the thread, good luck with the project. I'd love to do the course, I wonder how much it would cost or indeed if it was possible to do something like a bass vi?
See Tait's post above for the cost (worth having a look at his Shuker build thread as well!). I'm sure you could do a bass vi. But IIRC the course is only a week, so you are limited to what you can build in that time. You agree a spec with Jon before you start, and he will advise what is realistic within that timescale. Umph that looks great. SG shaped basses are really growing on me at the moment. The Padouk finger board sounds interesting too - stunning looking wood. I'm looking forward to tonight's instalment!

You're both welcome to a lift. I'll be travelling in from Mansfield with Luke (Tait). I'll drop him and my gear off and happy to pop into town to pick a few people up - especially if it means getting more tasty gear there! Luke - worth starting a list of what people are bringing? I'm planning to bring the 1964 Fender Precision, Rickenbacker 4003, Shuker Singlecut, Stingray (with East pre-amp) and Mark Bass combo.
Either date is fine for me. If it's at Five Ways I won't be able to bring as much stuff as it's further to walk...
I've got loads of room in the people carrier if you (or anyone else!) needs a lift from the City Centre / train station? Also have room for a one or two people if anyone is travelling from Mansfield / Hucknall area. Hopefully we can get a few more committed to come!
Ahh ok. So is which cooler intentional damage or accidental?
Accidental - although I like to think of it as "evidence of a hard life" rather than damage
-
Yeah totally. Look how cool gaffer tape makes this Mondeo.
But is that an original R reg Mondeo, or a relic'd reissue? Makes all the difference to whether its cool or not
What's wrong with having it on the same weekend as the SE Bash? I doubt there would be anyone who'd want to come to both?
I'm planning to!

No idea. Very cool bass though!
I'll phone up The Grosvenor if you like? That's where we had it for the last couple of years, it was alright. What sort of dates can people do/not do? EDIT: or any other venues if you have any to suggest? I'll have a look around, too, see where might be good.
I thought the Grosvenor was fine. The South East Bash is end of November, so best to avoid that date.
Looks like Simon1964 and myself should be coming to this!
Yep, hoping to get down there from the Sunny Midlands. I'll probably bring the '64 P and the Shuker. And I've got an Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive which I'll donate to the raffle. Both charities look excellent causes. -
No, I wouldn't touch that... You are probably correct about the non-block fretboard and the pickup spacing is not 74. Also, the knobs look like late 70's replacements and there is also something funny about the decal too. The 'JAZZ BASS' seems to be placed wrong and the little 'contoured body logo' is definitely not placed correctly for a 74. Don't go there unless you can get to try it, and if it's a great sounding and playing bass, try to get a considersble discount as it's not a 74 as advertised (it might still be a great player :-).
+1 to all of that. It might be a nice bass, but its not a '74 Jazz.

Stunning bass - Congratulations!

Just bought a pedal from Pablo. My second deal with him, and once again a great transaction. Great Guy to deal with.
A rare brown burst (never seen anouther this color) rick 4003.
As Schnozzalee says, that's Montezuma Brown. Ric did a limited edition Colour of the Year in the early 2000s, and Monte Brown was the COY for 2003. So as well as looking great, you can't actually get them in this colour any more.

If you're gigging you really ought to have specific insurance. MusicGuard (and I suspect all the other companies mentioned in this thread) will give much wider cover than your household insurance is likley to provide. My cover, for example, covers theft from my car, theft or damage to equiplment at a gig etc. But it also provides public liability insurance. Some musicians seem to question why they need public liability cover, but it is essential if you're gigging. For example, if a member of the public is seriously injured at a gig by your equipment, falling over a lead, a fault in your amp causes a fire etc. Those sorts of claims often run into tens of thousands (and in rare cases millions) of pounds. The venue's public liability insurance may cover the claim, but the venue's insurer can (and often will) seek to recover from you or your band if it was your negligence which caused the accident/damage. I'm an insurance lawyer by day, and I see far too many claims of that type where people are inadequately covered.
