The Jam, Glasgow Apollo, April '82.
You lucky sod! That must have been on their farewell tour?

I'm not a huge fan of a lot of the Behrignger stuff, but these are very good for money sound wise. Straight forward to use, and does the job. They're not as solid as a Sansamp or the EBS microbass, but at a fifth of the price you can't expect them to be. If you want a cheap DI that will give a bit of grit you can't go wrong.

I've swapped Precision and Jazz necks pretty regularly over the years - my Jazz has currently got a fretless precision neck on it. Subject to the points others have made, its usually dead straight forward to swap. Oh - obviously we're talking about 4 bolt necks. A three bolt 70s (or 70s reissue) Jazz neck obviously won't be a straight fit to a Precision.
guys this is deprressing! Love my Ray but not sure it's the answer to my dweams or that I can accept that there is this G fault I have to live with! - the sweet trebs are what I love most about bass playing!! Gonna take off the Labellas currently on there later tonight and put some EB's on and see what that does
It is a problem on Stingrays. I've found that a decent compressor and my EBS microbass evens things out - but you really shouldn't have the problem in the first place!

I'm not sure it was the very first, but one of my earliest, and easily the most memorable, was the The Alarm at Leeds Uni in 1985. Not so much because of the Alarm (although they were pretty good), but because the Clash were busking outside before the gig as part of their infamous busking tour. Link to a report here (the entry for 7th May): http://homepage.mac.com/blackmarketclash/B...e%20GsHead.html Happy days!

I'm not normally a fan of blue basses, but the Ric blueburst really is stunning!
This looks about right...S7 '77, Logo looks bob on. Patina/tint of neck seems good. Hard to tell if the bass has been monkied with, seeing how the photos are sooo sh*te. I think £1200 would be my stopping point on this, buy it now £2000? To words, off and F*ck. If he expects £2k, he better buy a new camera first. Trav
Agreed - looks OK from the very poor photos, but £2k for a late 70s P is too much. -
Looks like a great day! I like the idea of bringing along a tame drummer - we'll have to remember that for the next Nottingham bash!
That's a bit like saying we should all shag a chimp isn't it?
Very nice collection! For me, you can't beat a Stingray in natural finish - simple, classic look.
The mad run at the start (of course). What the hell is he playing?
I've just had to learn this for our covers band. Tabbed, what I'm playing is roughly this: G---0-0-12-0-10-0-0-8-8-0-7-0-5-5-0-3-|3-0-3-3-0-3-0-3-0-- D-------------------------------------------------- |----------------------3-- A---------------------------------------------------|------------------------- E---------------------------------------------------|------------------------- 16th notes, played with loads of distortion, and holding the double stop at the end. I'm not sure its 100% accurate, but played flat out it sounds more or less right to me!
I'm a happy bunny
So you should be, Sam - that's stunning! You'll miss the $$ though

Wow - some amazing stuff there! The Enfield looks incredible, but the natural 'ray has to be my personal fave.

Very nice. I used to have a Tunder IA back in the 80s, but it got stolen in Leeds one afternoon. I've been having nostalgic Westone GAS recently!
The one in Derby is overpriced for a stripped but i'd guess negotiable on that basis. Has anyone on here played it (or owned it)?
I've not played it (or seen it), but I will be in Derby a couple of days next week. Happy to check it out and report back. It is over-priced, but they do a steady trade in used stuff there and I would assume the price is negotiable.

Fantastic collection! The 62 Precision is stunning.
I've been asked to source a '64 Precision, ideally original but a stripped or refinned might work also. Substantial budget available. Can anyone who knows of any in UK or US shops post links or details here? Many thanks Chris
Rattle and Drum in Derby have this one advertised on ebay at the moment: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-1964-Precisio...=item2c51d08f68

Very nice! I've never seen zebrano used as a centre strip like that - looks fantastic

Here's me versatile bed-settee model. Best described as a heavy relic....

Very nice - love the Sandberg!
Same here - the overdrive isn't very useable, the synth is fun but doesn't track fast enough, the octave is okay, the chorus , filter and compressor are great!
+1. The Built in compressor is actually better than a lot of pedals I've tried.
WOW..now this is a Marcus Miller jazz..never seen a CS go for this much..do they mean only 10 made..? this has got to be good!!! http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_marcus_mil...aster_built.htm
IIRC there are two categories of Fender Custom Shop stuff. Team built and Master built. The latter is individually handmade by one of Fenders "Master" luthiers. So this will be one of 10 handbuilt Custom Shop pieces - hence the eyewatering price. Whether its worth more than four times a normal Marcus Miller is another matter.....

One of the most iconic basses of all time
simon1964 replied to Bass_In_Yer_Face's topic in General Discussion
Never knew this existed. Paul Simonon's bass a few seconds after the cover of London Calling at the Rock N' Roll hall of fame in Chicago.
What a great link - if I'm ever in Chicago, this will have to be on the list of places to visit! -
Thanks both! I realise you can only give a ball park figure without seeing it, but around £3,000 was what I had in mind. Good to get some confirmation.
