I've decided to sell my OLP 5 String. Black with Maple Board and matching headstock. I added the shell pickguard - I've got an all black guard which I will include in the sale, which gives it a rather fetching ''stealth'' look! This is a very nice passive 5 string, but I simply don't play it enough to justify keeping it. I'm looking for £100 plus postage.
Pretty guitar, but this is a bass forum! Also your Avatar is highly offensive to us Canary fans!
Another Canary on here! I was about to make exactly the same comment on the Avatar - far more offensive than the mention of a guitar! All the same, that Sandberg does look very nice. Sandberg have been moving up my GAS list recently....

Ashdown MAG C300-115 Combo and MAG 2x10 cab

14. Most of which I never use....

I confess to be completely ignorant on these matters, so could do with some advice! I mainly use a Mark Bass 1x15 combo for gigging. I have an old Ashdown MAG 2x10 cab sitting around never getting used, and was wondering whether I could use that as an extension cab? Problem is, the combo is rated 500w @ 4 ohms, and 300w @ 8 ohms (and according to the Mark Bass website has an impedence of 8 ohms). The Ashdown cab is 200w, 8ohms. Can I safely use the Ashdown cab, or am I going to cause damage to the cab, amp, or both?! I'm sure its a bloody stupid question, but as I say, I am completely ignorant in these matters, so thanks in advance!

To be honest, I would look at 300w for pub gigs. Anything smaller could struggle without going through the PA. I used an Ashdown MAG 300 combo until recently, and found it to be a good, solid gigging amp. I've just upgraded to a Mark Bass combo, and would highly recommend them if you can run to the extra cost. Fantastic sound, loud, and a fraction of the weight of the Ashdown. Worth every penny.

Mine arrived yesterday. Amazingly quick delivery. And you really can't knock it at this price. -
The S-1 switch is the DUMBEST thing Fender have done in the last few years.
Agree for the Precision. Have to disagree on the Jazz. The S1 gives the jazz a slightly fatter, rounder sound which sits really well in the mix. It gives a passive jazz some balls. Personally, if I was buying a Jazz, the question of the S1 switch would not make much difference for me. If you don't like it, you don't have to use it.
As much as I'd love to try before I buy, I don't think it's going to be possible, seeing as I haven't seen any local shops trading in Warwicks for ages. And given the difference in prices between stores and the web, I'm not likely to be buying in store. Weight shouldn't be an issue for me; I'm a big boy and I'm used to playing a Dean 8 String for years of gigs. However, I am intrigued/worried about this neck talk. What's the problem? How do they vary and will I actually notice? (being that I'm new to Warwicks and haven't really had such a high quality bass before)
Newer Warwick necks are a bit of a marmite thing. They are quite deep, and chunky (at least my $$ is). On the other hand, I find the profile much more comfortable than any of my other basses. It actually feels easier and more comfortable than my Precision and Stingray. If you've been playing a Dean 8 string, I doubt you'll find the neck on a 4 string $$ any problem.

Definately try first, but IMHO the Corvette $$ is a fantastic bass. Very versatile, and very playable. So far as price is concerned, I managed to get Sound Control in Birmingham down to under £700 (from memory, something like £100 off the price it was marked), so worth haggling. Personally, though, I would look at buying secondhand. Warwicks sem to be going for very little money at the moment.
I've been quite lax about it to be honest but i'm now getting bored of it. If you disagree with price someone has put their item up for, then PM them saying why you believe it is too high. Something is of course only worth what someone is willing to pay, what YOU are willing to pay may be different to someone else. If they choose to take your advice then great - if not then it isn't your problem. If you believe the seller is purposely being dishonest about the item then please PM a moderator who will look into it. The vigilante style self-moderation that is becoming commonplace is a nice theory, but can leads to this kind of situation. It doesn't benefit the forum and doesn't give a favourable impression of the people who are discrediting the item. I will from now on begin to delete any posts where I believe a member is discrediting the seller for the only reason that they disagree with the price of the item.
+2. Agree 100% with all of that.

Badass III - now sold

I recently bought the MP3 version, having previously used the CD version. Both are really useful. On balance I prefer the MP3 version simply as its so conveninet to use. Smaller and more portable, and as others have said, the rechargable battery is a big plus over the CD version, which eats batteries.

What ever happen to all of the (bass) heroes ?

Good point. How about the guy from the Killers? Some really good bass lines which drive their songs. -

+ 1 fpr PMT in Birmingham. Excellent stock, and friendly helpful staff. Easily the best service in Brum. Otherwise, Sound Control have a pretty good stock, but the staff can seem a bit disinterested at times. There's also Fairdeal Music, near the Bull ring. They have a reasonable range of stuff, and are pretty helpful. Haggle though - they will ususually move from marked prices. The other shop worth a mention in City Music, just around the corner from Sound Control. They're small, and the bass stock is quite limited. They're friendly and helpful though, and its worth popping in if you're at Sound Control.

The OLP really takes some beating for the money. the passive is excellent in its own right, but if you can afford the little bit extra for the active Tony Levin, its worth it - fantastic instrument for the price.
Hmmmmmm interesting <Fingers upon chin> Cheers Si
Just noticed your Highway 1 project body. For the sake of completeness, I don't think the Badass III will be a direct replacement on that - Highway 1 have the traditional 5 hole fixing, so you would need the Badass II for a direct replacement (in fact, doesn't the Badass II come as standard on them?). -
Is this a straight swap on a standard US Jazz, like the Badass II? How does it differ from the II? Si
Yes - the 3 hole bridge is standard on the current US Standard and Deluxe models (the ones with trough body stringing option) and the Badass III is a straight swap. They are specifically designed for the US Standard and Deluxe Fenders. And you retain both through body and top load stringing. The biggest difference over the Badass II is that you don't have to file the saddles! They are pre-grooved. The shape is slightly different but you still get the added mass over a Fender Standard bridge. -
I bought this new to fit to my US Jazz. Had it on there for a day, and decided I preferred the standard bridge! This is the 3 screw model, with pre-grooved saddles, and string through or top load options. This has literally been on my Jazz for a few hours, and is otherwise unused, so is completely new condition. Looking for £45 posted. Pm me for any more details.
