1. Absolutely excellent feedback for Bass Culture (aka Mark). Top bloke - couldn't have been more accommodating. Buy with confidence!
2. Hi there, do you have pics of the animato?
3. Interested in a trade for a tc nova reverb in mint condition?

5. Interested in a direct trade for a tc nova reverb in mint condition?
6. dammit - just remembered the 2 blue picks slipped under the scratchplate at Wembley - should have added those in my pic!
7. Here's my own Deacy tribute: Ingredients 1 Squier Affinity Black P-Bass - £99 from Big Deal (RIP) in Sheffield. Secondhand but in as new condition. 1 chrome Schaller 3D Bridge - £30 from a fellow BC'er. 1 black scratchplate bought from the internet - approx £10. 1 set of Rotosound jazz bass flatwounds as per the man - approx £25. Total cost approx £165. Sounds surprisingly good. Couldn't justify the extra cost of going for gold hardware but I reckon the average punter wouldn't notice. The bridge was worth every penny of the £30. The piece of tin that was originally on there was 'weight saving' to say the least. Close up showing the Schaller bridge (excellent bridge - 'nice action...very nice action' as Alan Partridge would say):
8. Nice one! Seeing John playing that bass on 'Another One Bites the Dust' at Wembley '86 is probably the reason I play bass... What a tone! Jono
9. Alex James is definitely under-rated. Girls and Boys is a great line to play. Just read his autobiography which is pretty good.
10.
Another one for Tony Kanal from No Doubt. Even years ago before I ever though I'd touch a bass, I always listened to him and wished I could play some of the lines he does, especially "Different People" Im making it my goal to learn that song, dont care how long it takes. Some of the songs from the lesser known first 2 albums are awesome too.
+10 Tony Kanal is totally underrated IMO. I think I mentioned him earlier on in this thread. Different People is probably one of my favourite basslines ever to play. Closely followed by Spiderwebs. I highly recommend the Live in the Tragic Kingdom DVD to check out his playing. I was lucky enough to see them on that tour in 1997? at Manchester Apollo and they rocked. Supported by the Vandals if I remember correctly who also brought the house down. Good times!
11. It's on the Overwater site now so I can announce I am the incredibly lucky winner of the Overwater comp. I just couldn't believe it when an email from Chris May popped into my inbox on Tuesday night, asking me to contact him. One phone call and a million thank yous later and I couldn't get the smile off my face. I'm just getting some initial thoughts together on the spec but even after years of lusting after a custom build that's not easy. A trip to Carlisle is definitely on the cards. I will of course keep you updated on progress.
12. Cheers Cetera for another ace gig last night (Sheffield). Got to see your whole set this time and your version of 'Firehouse' is just amazing. I think it maybe better than the original!
13.
On behalf of myself and my family, I just want to say "Thank You" for great night at The Robin in Bilston. After the bass solo and God Of Thunder - you could have fallen off stage and crushed me with those boots - and I would have died a happy bunny You all really put your hearts and souls into that performance, and I can honestly say, I haven't enjoyed a gig so much in many, many years. My daughter was on such a high after the show, she couldn't shut up about you, and your performance as Gene - she wanted to take you home and keep you as her pet Demon...... I would have liked to stay longer to chat a bit more - but I was nearly four hours late taking my meds, and the pain was getting to me a bit. anyway - thanks again for a memorable night, and for the chance for my daughter to get a photo with you - A great musician, a great performer and an all round good guy.
14. a few years ago my missus dragged me to a jazz gig at her church in Sheffield. Thought it would be some average local band. Turned out Steve Lawson was playing bass. I was over the moon... Jon
15. + 1 for Skints. Saw them with Sonic Boom 6 and I thought they were actually better than SB6 which is going some... I also highly recommend the Dance Hall Crashers for twin female-fronted ska punk goodness. Don't think Sublime have been mentioned either.
16. +1 for Bravado. They're from Doncaster and are excellent. In fact they actually got me into Rush! Pod (Geddy) works in Electro Music in Doncaster and sold me my first Trace Elliot head (back in the day)... Think some of the others might work there too.
17. Cheers Cetera for an ace night out on saturday! Loved the look, sound, pyro's and fire breathing. Cold Gin was a highlight for me. Wifey was happy cos you played Crazy Crazy Nights and I was Made for Loving You. Top stuff. Had to leave early due to baby sitting but was pretty damn reluctant to go. I can highly recommend Dressed to Kill to other BC'ers!!! Jono
18.
Hey Jono! She'll be happy because we will almost definitely play both of those No worries for you though as there will be plenty of 70's classics, some deep cuts and very likely the new KISS song 'Modern Day Delilah'!
Cheers for the reply. Looking forward to it! Jono
19. Hey cetera, Myself and the wifey are hoping to come to your gig at the Diamond on the 3rd - however she had a question as I tried to persuade her to go... Her favourite Kiss era is the late 80's (no idea why) and she was wondering if you played stuff like 'Crazy Crazy Nights' and 'God Gave Rock'n' Roll To You'? I'm 70's all the way mind... Jono
20. Probably the reason I play bass.... Always thought the intro riff in Aerosmith's 'Eat the Rich' had the fattest tone ever (0:50)...
21. Seem to remember reading eons ago he close mikes up his tweeter... Whatever you think of his playing you have to admit he's got a pretty unique sound (as have Korn really)
22. Higgie - how big is the Barge (dimensions)? cheers.
23. Yamaha BB414 passive four string. Great all round bass. Particularly good for slapping both in terms of tone and playability. Hardly been played and in almost as new condition. Just one very minor identation on the top edge of the bass which looks to me like it was a manufacturing fault (see pic below) Got major gas attack on this bass so this is priced for a quick sale: WITHDRAWN - due to gas attack subsidence. For more info and the cheapest new price I could find in a quick search of the net: http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/yamaha-bb414/9194 Pics: Best picture I could get of the minor identation (just offset left from middle of pic):
24. I have also done the course where I made this: I cannot recommend the course enough. I did the five day one with 3 other students but got more than enough of Jon's expert advice. Total cost was around £600 including materials. Main thing is I really didn't expect to come with a bass of such quality made from my own hands. Somehow Jon coaxed it out of me!!! More pics Nice bass, bad hair. If there's enough interest I'll post a load more pics on how the below turned into the above!
25. sorry Chris this is sold. I forgot to update the post. Will do so now...
