That sounds like brilliant stuff! Have a good one.
If anyones in Doncaster on Sunday lunch im playing with Dennis Rollins and Pee Wee Ellis. Its at Coco Ice cocktail bar in the Market Place on Sunday, July 24 from about 2. Im depping in the band so dont know what to expect but am really looking forward to playing with such an amazing horn section. My friend Mark Ellis is also playing and hes one of my favorite sax players. Obviously Dennis Rollins and Pee Wee Ellis are both renowned players. Its looking like its gonna be more jazz than funk. But as Pee Wee Ellis wrote Pass the Peas, the Chicken and co wrote Cold sweat with James Brown im packing my bass guitar along with the upright :-) http://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/news/a...ws_in_1_3590995
Ampeg Pf-115he OR Barefaced??
sockdeluxe_mikey replied to 's topic in Amps and Cabs
The Compact is a simply unbelievable cabinet. I too have also found that, when played at least louder than bedroom volume, the amount of treble available is actually more than enough for most things which makes it a pretty pleasing cabinet to EQ. Obviously, it would be good advice to try one for yourself, but I would step my toes on the line and say that it seems like a fairly hard cabinet not to like, especially given the time to get used to it .
' post='1313234' date='Jul 22 2011, 09:02 PM']Right, all understood. I've even read this paragraph on the barefaced compact website What about a tweeter? If you just want a nice clear sound, with some treble bite when you pop a note and enough brightness to always hear the details of your playing then this cab does all that without the cost, weight and complexity of a good tweeter system or without the numerous sonic downsides of cheaper and less well designed tweeters. If you like the extended highs of a high quality tweeter then we recommend our Midget T or Super Twelve T as adding a tweeter to the Compact would cause inconsistent polar response due to the mellower off-axis response of the Compact's larger woofer. But I can't help but notice the Super Twelve... Either way, am I assuming the consensus is return the Ampeg?
-

Is the Xbox RF still around? I might be interested in this if this is for the PC to connect wireless Xbox 360 devices.

Hi all, Have finally managed to work out which pot value I need to replace in a Peavey bass - a 'proper' one from Peavey in the UK could cost nearly £15, so I am obviously looking for other options. Where is the best place to get hold of this value of pot? I'm having trouble getting hold of a center detent one. Also, does it have to be exactly 50k or could it also be something like a 47k pot? Thanks very much

Hello all! I have finally come to definitely want to sell this bass. It is reminiscent of the Modulus Flea bass, in ways such as body shape and pickup positioning. It has a Peavey 18V two band preamp and has great playability and sound, as well as being a very modestly priced bass for a USA Peavey. Apart from there being ever so slightly different volume knobs for the two preamp knobs as they didn't come with them, this bass has absolutely no issues or problems. I would assume pick up only for the moment, BUT I would also consider posting the bass if postage was paid on top and I am told exactly what I need to do I'm taking this to a guitar shop I know tomorrow to see if they want to buy this for a half decent price, but obviously also thought it was worth seeing if anybody wanted it on Basschat as well. Let me know if any of you have questions, and I will be putting up some pictures in a minute

Hello all! I am for the first time seriously considering importing something from the USA - a bass neck. What would everybody think be the maximum amount (i.e worst case scenario) of import duty I should be expecting? The value of the neck itself will be about 120 dollars, and the postage is about 40. Thanks for reading

I'm in a band that could possibly take this on! I'll pass it to the band leader

Best places in the UK to get bass bodies made
sockdeluxe_mikey replied to sockdeluxe_mikey's topic in Bass Guitars
These are some great replies, guys! Thanks very much I've already got a set of pickups for it, but apart from that I'm going to be going as slow as possible and picking up the right parts when they come along. -
Hello everybody! I should be gearing up soon to buying a bass guitar body to start serious work on a bass build, but I have normally been looking at American companies such as Warmoth at prices and specs. Is there anywhere in Britain that could build a very simple alder jazz bass body, no thrills, and for a relatively decent price? A body for about £150 or less would be very good! I am also considering doing the finishing myself, practice permitting. Thanks for reading
For sale a 2 year old Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster ‘60s. They say: The rough-and-tumble Classic Vibe Stratocaster ’60s evokes that musically adventurous decade, with a few modern features added. The alder body has a Three-color Sunburst or Candy Apple Red finish; the ’60s-era vintage-tint gloss-maple neck has a rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium-jumbo frets and a modern 9.5” radius. The thick tone comes from the alnico V single-coil pickups—quick attack with a bit more midrange force and a knockout bridge pickup. Custom staggered polepieces provide improved string-to-string balance. Great player, great sound. You are probably aware of the good reviews these Classic Vibe guitars have had; fully justified from my experience with this guitar. I tried 3 CV60s when I bought this one and this was the best in terms of sound and playability. Selling as I've moved to a tele and can't justify 2 guitars around the place. No issues other than some cosmetic scuffs and dents which I have tried to capture in these photos Grab yourself a bargain: £100 Collection preferred (West Sussex)
PM'd on behalf of friend!

Pickups from a 75RI Jazz
Just installed a set of Dimarzios in mine, so these are surplus now. Generic US jazz tone. Good condition and the wires have just been de-soldered from the pots, not cut, so plenty of wire. Screws included. No box obviously. Pics this evening. £25 posted, via Bank Transfere. Thanks
PM'd -
When you daisy chain another pedal from the Boss pedal, it somehow shorts out the resistor and gives the pedal full voltage. You can see this for yourself if you plug just the Boss in, then plug in another pedal and the LED gets brighter. I don't fully understand how this works, but I have read it in numerous forum post and confirmed it myself via experimentation with an old OC-2 I once had.

Dannybuoy is correct - if daisy-chained then the ACA pedals will work off a standard PSA-style daisy chain power supply at 9V provided there is at least one other (non-ACA) pedal also connected to the daisy chain. Confused?!! Actually, most ACA pedals will work fine off 9V DC regulated but there is a small handful that won't unless daisy-chained.
I can also definitely verify this too, and completely forgot to mention the first time round. Incredibly strange. I also wonder why this arrangement was conceived in the first place...? Maybe there was a surplus of adaptors that were 12V already (or some other reason why the 12V adaptor was used), but for another reason independently had to make the Boss pedal work at 9V internally? It really is confusing!
-
Interesting! I have a T Rex psu so I'll look into the 12v aspect.
I have a T-Rex Fuel Tank Chameleon, and the OC-2 has a 12V tap for itself I don't have a very big pedal board!
Hi, I've just purchased a made in Taiwan Boss OC-2 from a fellow Basschatter. It's turns out that in powering terms it's not the PSA version, but an ASA version. What is the difference ? Is it Polarity or Voltage ? Is there an adapter cable I can get to use with my Power Supply? I tried the Search function but didn't come up with anything Many thanks
A very good question, this one! The Boss ACA input is basically going to be a pedal that runs on 9V, EXCEPT there is a resister crossed over the power that basically means that it needs 12V to run at 9V - I have absolutely no idea why this! So, the Boss adaptor may say 9V input and the pedal may say it needs 9V, but actually it needs 12V. Therefore, all you need to do is run 12V into the pedal. This can obviously be done by either a separate dedicated (centre negative?) adaptor, or (like I and others do) get a dedicated power brick and use the 12V (centre negative?) tap from that. A Boss ACA pedal will only run at 9V if a) it's running on batteries, or intaking 12V from the outside. If you input 9V, it'll run a few volts below that and the OC-2 actually sounds a bit pants like this. You can also tell this is happening because the 'on' LED is noticeably darker when not running at 9V internally. Hope this helps!
Another Jamerson Isolated Bass Line. Transcription not 100% but not far off, track fades out as the transcription but the isolated bass continues for a good 5 bars or more.
Looks good so far I'm going to give it a try tomorrow and play along with the track, but kudos to you so far!

A good point Fatguy, and I can understand your sentiment - however, by the time I had (admittedly) kept the one that had arrived late for another month or so (as I didn't know if I'd needed it for another bass) the eBay shop had actually closed and with obviously no way to really to return it. Bear in mind that I've had it for about five years now just kept in storage, so I think you can grant me some reasoning for selling it now
-
Hi all! I originally bought one of these for my girlfriend's Epiphone Thunderbird from the US - it got lost in the post, so they sent another one (very graciously). Then in a complete stroke of luck, the first one turned up about a month later! Hence why it is in its original packaging and literally completely untouched. Any questions, then please do not hesitate to ask
Evening fellow BCers, I was just wondering is there a dedicated pedal out there which can just perform the hold function like on the Boss Synth pedals. thanks. T
There is a pedal by Electro Harmonix called the Deep Freeze - that sounds like what you want . I've been considering getting one myself at some point!
