Yeah if its a 6 string Tobias for example I would just change the bridge and nut to a 5 string ones and plug one of the tuner holes. Not sure what you mean in the second paragraph. Edit aah sorry got it. Yep have done already, got a bass built to my spec. I’m just throwing those out here to let people know what I might be interested in. There might be some cool basses out there.

Hi guys. Just got this Sei from @Gardenerben (who’s a lovely guy and a passionate player btw) and although it is every bit of amazing and looks stunning, it is not what I’m after. Specs: Top - Claro Walnut Body - Ash with Bubinga tone block Neck - Flamed Maple and Purpleheart Fretboard - Curly Bubinga Pickups - Kent Armstrong (bass originally had these in series but I have rewired them in parallel as I think it sounds better - can revert to series on request). Preamp - Noll 3 band with semi-parametric mid sweep. 24 Fret 34” Scale 18mm string spacing Weight around 4.1-4.2kg Hiscox hard case Has a few minor dings as seen on the photos below. The bass sounds incredibly focused and punchy with a great definition, B string is one of the best I’ve heard. Action is nice and low, strung with a brand new set of Elixirs (happy to knock off £40 if you don’t want them). The craftsmanship on that instrument is nothing short of breathtaking. I just wish the sound was closer to what I’m after so I could keep it 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m happy to listen to trade offers with cash adjustment up or down. Hi guys. I’ve accumulated a stupid amount of pickups over the years. Realising I need to do a clean up, I’ve decided to put them up for trade. Not really interested in selling that’s why there’s no individual prices. However I’m absolutely happy to trade for other pickups, stuff that I haven’t had a chance to try before. *Edit - in the rush have labeled it as Thunderbass - it is actually a Thunderbolt!! Hi guys. So this is something very special that I’ve been after for a long time. The sound is exactly what I’m after, unfortunately the 17.5mm string spacing doesn’t agree with me. All original Pedulla Thunderbolt 5. Haven’t weighed it but I’m guessing it’s around 9.5lbs. Extremely comfortable to play, neck is to die for. There is some age related wear, for example frets can do with stoning but it can also be played as is - I’ve taken it to gigs and there’s absolutely no issues. A few dings on the lacquer and the lacquer itself has got a few slightly cloudy areas. Saying all this, I’d never let this one go as to me the sound is to die for. Nice, tight and punchy lows, growly low mids. Mids absolutely the right amount to cut through the mix but a little scooped too so that the slap sound is ace. Made in ‘99 I believe. Birdseye maple fretboard, Bubinga top. All original top to bottom, volume, blend, bass, treble that boosts from detent up and does passive tone control from detent down, and the mighty Pedulla Thunderguts which add a beautiful low mid to the sound and it justifies its name. Only thing I’ve replaced is the foam under the pickups as it originally had silicone tubes which were all old and messed up and wouldn’t keep the pickups at the desired height. Comes with the original Pedulla hard case. I am after a trade only for this one - if I can find a Pedulla with 19mm spacing I’d be all over it. I’d consider a pre Gibson Tobias basic or classic 6 (so that I can convert it to 5 and get 19mm spacing) with a cash adjustment. Tobias Killer B, anything with 2 soapbars especially of the older Bartolini variety. I wouldn’t post this as I don’t have the means to package it safely but I’m happy to deliver for half the petrol costs. I also travel around the UK for gigs fairly often so happy to take a detour if I’m passing nearby.

Continuing to thinning the herd, here’s a fine example of a Ken Smith Design ProtoJ 5. This is exactly the same one as Melvin Lee Davis plays here - Word over at TalkBass is that this one above is absolutely stock (by someone who claims he knows Melvin personally and have asked him about it). Really good condition and I have personally had it PLEK’d at Charlie Chandler guitars a few years ago which costed around £140 and haven’t played it much since - I’m not sure I have the receipt for that but I could give them a call and try to get a copy of it. It’s pretty obvious cos it plays like butter and has a nice low medium action. Bass is 35” scale, active with a two band EQ - stacked bass and treble. I would consider trades for anything interesting - especially basses with older Bartolini electronics and pickups from the “K” or “T” lines. Hi guys, selling my stunning example of BassMods NP5. Gorgeous colour and near mint condition as far as I can see. Original Delano pickups and Aguilar OBP3 preamp. Volume, blend, mid (push pull - read below), stacked bass and treble. I have modified the mid to 250Hz/800Hz following instructions on Aguilar’s website as that’s what I like (originally it is selectable between 400 and 800hz) but I can easily restore to factory if a potential buyer wishes so. Bass is strung with £60 Elixir Nickel (45-130 I think) but I’m happy to knock off a few quid if somebody wants to leave these with me. It is a 35” scale. Weight is in the low 9lbs - don’t have a working scale at the moment but it’s not a lump. Very comfortable neck with medium low action. Reason for sale is that I have a stupid amount of basses including a Fender Marcus Miller and an Elite which I’ve modded to my liking and tend to reach for a lot more so I need to thin out the herd a bit. No case or strap are included. Might be able to find some old gig bag to throw in. I would consider trades for anything interesting - especially basses with older Bartolini electronics and pickups from the “K” or “T” lines.
