Well hey... If someone paid £425 for it then that's what it's worth .
Yes the angled wedge is (an extreme) version of the tilt that I would find beneficial but the angled baffle means I still have a horizontal surface to sit my amp.
+1. I'm still imagining something half-angled where the front facing would be a single 12' or 2x10 and on the angled surface - 1x8' or 2x6'. But still a cubical shaped box. I've checked LDS' cabs but they do not offer a cab that keeps the traditional shape while still having angled speakers.

This one is absolutely mint but still at that price... If you check the revision details you can see it's been selling for almost a year now and the BIN price has been changed twice... Good luck
I don't want to replace anything except install an option for active/passive. I've built musicman style frankenbasses before all wired for passive, but I want to take my actual MM and keep everything stock except what's necessary for active/passive operation.
whoops missed that. Yeah adding a passive/active switch isn't a bad idea I guess

Get an OLP mate, very well built basses, passive too. There's 5 stringers going for about £180. Then you can experiment with different pickups over time.
A better solution is to add a midrange driver, something that we have discussed and is in the pipleline.
I agree mate but even with an added midrange driver facing forward you still won't be able to hear clearly your cab when it's pointing at the back of your knees at high volumes on the stage. I remember gigging my Mesa 1516 and although a tall cabinet I still needed to move about 4-5 feet away to get a good clear full-range hearing.
There are one or two Schroeder cabs that have one of the drivers fitted to an angled baffle inside the regular cabinet, but I get the impression this is more to enable a smaller external cab size rather than to make it more audible to the player on stage - particularly as you'd need to use the cab on its side anyway. Not a bad idea in itself, though. Agreed. Accugroove's 'switchable impedance' cabs turned out to be not what they seemed...
That's where my idea came from but instead of having a side angled woofer I was thinking of upwards angled full range speaker. As I mentioned I am a heavy Schroeder user

If you like soloing then absolutely, a 6 will suit your needs. I agree with what's been said so far, I have been playing a 5 for 15 years now and I love it, especially for pop - rock - soul, anything really. I do play my 4 string about 30-40% of the gigs when the context is right and I need more of authenticity than a low B but generally I use the 5th string a lot - and I love it. Been playing my 5 in my jazz fusion band with no problem but then I am not much into soloing, I prefer sitting at the bottom lol...

If you mean something like this - http://www.mediafire.com/view/myfiles/#b77bobd7py32a1w then it raises the question of covering the far end of the venue or possible issues with sound dispersion when on a raised stage
Love the idea of a 2x12 with vintage/coloured voicing but I'd want it to have an angled baffle; can't this be done but maintaining the 'external' casing as a rectangular prism? A cutaway in the top edge could be applied if the baffle angled back to the point where it might impede sound dispersion to the players ears but not so deep as to mean a standard flightcase wouldn't sit. .
Something like that you mean - http://www.mediafire.com/view/myfiles/#47i1q1ejv21bd3t I spend some time last night fooling around with paint

That's a good idea but I've got a fair bit of OCD and I won't be able to use it that way
Would something similar to EAD's 112 design work?
Yes mate but as someone mentioned it's gotta be flat to be able to support an amp on top, that's why I thought of a box with one straight, one facing about 40 degrees up but in a straight box.

Alright you got me going lol Just a little drawing of what I had in mind. Please pardon my French - I am no design specialist and those are my first attempts with paint. The yellow would represent a grill http://www.mediafire...9kz3rla3xgej35m - one 12 with additional routing of the sound to point the player. http://www.mediafire...47i1q1ejv21bd3t - two x12' or 10' where one points at the player. The front grill goes up the top to let's say half way I don't know if any of that is actually realistic and possible to build but I would love to have better reference on stage without having 4 cabs. How the heck do you post images here?
A big plus 1 to this
I've missed that... Indeed it would be great to have a cab like that but then how well would it dispense in the venue if it's pointing at let's say 30-40 degrees up? You got me thinking I would have loved to have a 2 or 3 speaker cab where 1 or 2 speakers are facing forward for the audience and one 10' is angled towards you. I often find myself carrying 2 4x10 sized cabs to a gig just to be able to hear myself because on a tight stage playing 3-5 feet away from the cab I can't really hear it cos it's aimed at my bum but then I don't wanna stand it on something cos I lose a fair bit of low end... So here comes the idea of let's say 2 tens pointing in the two needed directions. The grill of the cab could be extended to go over the top (still surrounded by the wooden frame for strength) but not all the way and that could be measured or supported in a way that it could carry an amp on top as bassman suggested. Idea two - how about a cab that (here's where not being a native English speaking person really doesn't help so excuse all the mistakes) has let's say one 12' facing forward, but the construction has an opening at the front/top like a horn facing the player where he would be a few feet away and giving him a reference? If all that sounds very stupid please just ignore me .

300-400 watt, the smaller and lighter the better, 8 oHm to allow combining 2 or 4, voiced slightly up in the low mids because that's what lets you hear your bass on stage without shaping your preamp's eq. For the 12' that is. I don't like the idea of a 1x10. Just to mention I'm a schroeder cabs fan. This is what I need as a working musician. Light and loud. If I was to keep one in a rehearsal room, I would have kept my Mesa 1516 and would have bought one more . By the way I'd be happy to be your guinea pig I do a fair amount of gigs per month, in familiar or new venues so I could test them in different situations.

http://www.gumtree.c...uced/1044237712 Why do they always come up when I'm skint? A friend of mine bought a '71 P refin for 1100 from gumtree last year... Could anyone lend me 800 quid please?

Yum! If I ever wanted to win the lottery it was just to be able to afford all the basses I like... And a big house to store them of course
