1. Gotta say those are great value for the money, I have the Lambda (the smaller one) for about 6 years now and never had a single problem, the DBX preamps inside sound great. I just love it. Whoever gets it, won't be disappointed.
2. In fact if there's anything I miss from my MM is warmth in the lows, its low end is very.... I see it as rude, aggressive. To get a warm and friendly low end from mine (At least for me) I have to watch my playing and look for that tone. But I do play mostly rock covers so I need that warmth for about 2-3 songs per gig and I can easily get it. Played a few gospel gigs last year and a jazz-blues-funk gig recently and the SR was alive, driving, with a nice cutting through low and low-mid end, the other musicians (all session guys) couldn't stop complimenting my tone. Of course the preamps in my rack case, the amp and the cabs I'm using contribute a lot, but they don't shape it to an un recogniseable level, even with only my Littlemark II and either 310 epifani or 21012 schroeder the tone is still there and it rumbles, growls and cuts through. Yeah, the MM isn't the most friendly bass out there. It's a rare beast that needs taming .
3.
...or if your not too concerned about cutting through in the mix then the MM is great otherwise go with a P bass
Allow me to very strongly disagree with that part mate The SR5 3eq I got is the best cutting through bass I've ever played and I have played a lot of basses. I think that's the last thing you could point out as a flaw in a MM. There's no chance I'd play my SR5 and you won't hear what exactly I'm playing and not because of high volume... I have played my J, a friend's P, another friend's Warwick and my MM in the same environment (I've got a resident gig) and none of them comes even near the cutting through and definition of the Stingray. All of the rest basses are somehow warmer, yes, but not cutting through as much.
4. They do mate, most of them old ones are 2.5 diesel but 2 litre petrol is an option too.
5. They will fit as they are intended for longer scale basses than the SR5.
6. Is it in a good state considering its age?
7. That and "Squier FV series" She's corrected it tho.
8. Well surprisingly for me there's already a bid. Gareth is that you trying to prove my party wrong?
9. You got the input jack connector for this one by any chance mate?
10. I know you have mate, that was a joke. I'm just saying it's not the whole JV fashion that's the cause of this bass to be relisted Anyway I'm not gonna comment much here - don't want this thread locked too.
11. Fashion? You might have missed 5 pages of discussion about this in a different thread
12. Starting bid £400... Oh well . Somebody get me popcorn .
13. Now SOLD! I have a Nordstrand MM5.2 pickup for sale, very good condition, just a single light scratch on the surface, barely noticeable. Bought it on here a few months ago to try it with my Stingray, has amazing warm sound, closer to vintage stingrays but I was missing my original sound so I took it out. http://www.nordstran...pickups/modern/ As seen on the photo this is the one without ears. Hope Johnebass wouldn't mind for using his photo. £55 collected from NW London, I guess the postage will be £3-4. Please check my signature for deals on various items I have for sale.
14. Got a pair of CS 60's for sale, they came with my '76 jazz but I've recently acquired a set of original 70s pickups which are now installed in my jazz so these are for sale. They are in good condition, a few little scratches on the covers but nothing major. Photos to be uploaded soon but nothing much to see there different from a stock photo. If you're buying for upgrading more recent Fender Jazz please bear in mind those have different pole spacing like the original Fender Jazz basses had - 3.1/4 neck and 3.3/4 bridge to meet the changing strings spacing. Please check yours first as I've heard some of the more recent Fender Jazzes use the same size pickups so your pickguard/cavity might not fit or might have a bigger gap around the edge. £70 posted or £65 collected from NW London. Steff
15. Yes sure, if you pay the petrol at £10 per 60 miles
16. What I am blaming Gareth for is advising the seller that this particular bass is worth £500-£700 when a mint examples have been sold for as little as £550. Doesn't matter if that affected seller's decision (I believe it has) There's no way I can see this act as "justice" or "honesty" If you're trying to help someone out of the hole don't hand them a hollow stick I'm really looking forward to see this bass relisted and how much it's gonna go for. Gareth, a personal question mate. Do you still think this bass is worth £500-700 given the last mint example of £550? Considering its condition and the fact it's not working?
17. They don't seem to have taken any action, the listing is still live with the same description...
18. Yes of course, the market makes the price, not the seller nor buyer. Especially when it's an auction we're talking about. Still I would restrain myself for contacting sellers advising them unreasonable price for their goods especially when I haven't done my research before doing it and then proudly announce what I've done expecting praise. I don't know if Gareth's communication has caused the premature end but regardless I don't think it's right to ill advise sellers in any case.
19.
Here you go. It will be re-listed, possibly after a cleanup and a restringing. Hi Gareth, yes I decided to end it now I know a bit more about them and I'll relist it with a better description. Did you decide to pull it because of the low bidding? Or did you get an a decent offer from elsewhere you couldn't turn down? It's a very nice bass and a bit of TLC will turn it into an instrument somebody will be proud of. Cheers Gareth
Allow me to remind
20.
Within the eBay Weird and Wonderful forum here on BC our members regularly contact sellers to give advice, ask questions, make offers or correct inaccurate/ misleading listings (the current Hofner thread being one of the latter categories). That will not change . eBay is eBay and items evaporate in front of our very eyes and not necessarily for the reasons that we may think.
I agree, but does that justify contacting a seller advising a wrong price (given the examples of how much these go in a nice shape)?
21. Bump! Can't believe these are still here... Amazing cabs with great clarity and light as a feather!
22.
And here's another. http://www.ebay.co.u...cvip=true&rt=nc
Yes mate and that's exactly my point Those basses sold for £550 to £799, and one on here for £650 All 4 in great condition as can be seen from the photos and description That is why I keep insisting you have deluded the seller he should expect £700 after new strings and a polish up, because the bass in question is in poor condition and as stated "not working with an amp" Even with a polish up this bass is nowhere near as nice as the examples presented. Your opinion resulted in cancelling the auction early when a few people were bidding despite the state of the bass. Now the seller expects to sell his bass for an unreasonable price because you advised so. That's all my point is.
23. I'll throw you a welcome party
24. Guys, You're still missing the point and I don't really know why. Nowhere have I talked about dishonesty, taking advantage of the uninformed, or any similar predatory behaviour. My only point was, and still is The original owner of this bass knows what he's selling as he is a bass player and he refused to take offers on the bass and end early. I think he was just surprised and pleased to know that those basses should sell for £700 after a polish up. That's where Gareth has done wrong. The owner is a bass player. I've said it at least 5 times so far in earlier posts but funnily enough the defenders of the righteous seem to ignore this fact and keep talking about the "poor uninformed woman" She is a shop that the bass player in question is using to sell his bass No wonder she acted surprised when someone messaged her saying she should expect £700 for this bass.
