1.
Would you sell the rosewood neck separately? If so, how much? Cheers
Only if someone wants to buy the bass without it, which I highly doubt. Bump!
2. Will accept trades for an Aguilar, John East or another on board preamp
3. Hi guys, I’ve got the above preamp which is lovely (5 star reviews everywhere), has a vol/low mid/hi mid/high/bal configuration. It is a very transparent preamp which is amazing if you want to hear the real tone of your instrument. However I want to try something different in my MTD Kingston bass so I am after a trade for a John East or Aguilar. If one comes up for sale here I’d be willing to sell this one, otherwise I’m more after a trade. Edit: I’ve now found myself another preamp, would still consider a trade but this is now available for sale - £120 posted. Based in West London.
4. Bump!
5. Now sold.
6. Bump! I'll take £150 posted. These are awesome pickups, staggered pole pieces - forget about uneven string volume!
7. Bump! I might be interested in a trade for a good fretless. Pentabuzz, Roscoe, Zon, try me.
8. I used two Midgets for a year, done 2-3 gigs with one per week and 1 per month with both. In my opinion they’re better than your average cab but I like more aggressive, punchy and focused sound. I found them to be very neutral Cabs. So I switched to Bergantino AE210 and I’m happier. Better low mids, better highs (for my taste). Also the Bergs can handle more power before starting to distort audibly. Which is strange as they’re rated at 400 watt and the Barefaced site says 150-600w for the midget, I guess that’s RMS and peak values. Have also tried the 2x12 plus tweeter (don’t remeber the model) on a gig but for my liking it was lacking low mid and midrange. The sound was too heavy and slow, not defined and focused enough. Wouldn’t go back to them but again - everyone’s sound preferences are different. I am an aggressive player and like to be audible in the mix. For someone who likes to just add the low frequencies to the band mix, they should be more than suitable, also very light and compact and so on. Have played with one midget on a small local festival where the stage was big enough and the cymbals weren’t in my ear and it was loud enough.
9. Bump! Had a few very interesting trade offers but nothing definite yet so in the mean time - up ya go!
10. Bump! This bass is now £400 since I’ve pit back the original pickups but you still get the benefit of upgraded tuners, fretwork and the modded pickup pole pieces that made a massive difference in string to string volume balance. I’ve now got a KSD flying my way from the US so not interested in a trade anymore unless it’s any quality 5 string fretless.
11. I think I’ve taken this video with the original pickups https://www.facebook.com/steffmarinov/videos/10213726757831145/ Nope playing it right (see what I did there? 😂) but Facebook shows it the other way around.
12. Hi guys, I’ve always been a 5 string guy and since I haven’t taken my Jazz out of the house in the last year, I think it’s time to move on and pass it to someone who’s actually gonna use it. A bit of history. I’ve had the bass for 7 years and I always thought it’s originally natural but when I got it to my luthier for a check he said that it’s been stripped down - only his specialist eye could see that, I would have sworn it left the factory natural. Plenty of mojo, varnish is wearing out - I love the look of it! I bought it with non original pickups and then sourced the right ones - so now it has a ‘74 neck and ‘78 bridge pups. I believe they are genuine, bout them from a USA shop with plenty of positive eBay feedback. The original neck is rosewood - frets are fairly worn. It is still absolutely playable but will need a re-fret if you want a really really low setup. Second neck is maple, made in Japan. Bought it off here when I was chasing that magical MM Tone. Brilliant neck. As far as I am aware the pots and the plate are all original. Tuners and harness too. I have replaced the jack socket as it was worn out but I believe I still have the original one somewhere. Now I’m not really looking to sell it - I’m much more interested in trades of a similar value. Zon, Pedulla, Modulus, Dingwall, Tobias (yes yes!), a decent precision (never had one), MTD (I wish...), Marcus Miller 5 or a Roscoe Beck... only 5 strings though! Not interested in 4s or 6s. Or 3s. I’d consider any decent 5 string bass. That’s it I’m based in West London but I travel around for gigs fairly often and I wouldn’t mind driving up for the right bass. Steff Edit: Photos a few posts below.
13. Hi guys, Selling the pickups I had in my Sire as I’m selling the bass. Lovely focused sound, really improved the bass’ audibility in the mix. Few slight marks on the side of the covers, not seen once you install them. Tops are clean. Plenty of information online, those are the ones with staggered pole pieces to make up for Fender type necks with more curve. Photos to come. Based in London, happy to post in UK for £160.
14. Not sure why, my profile is set on public. Bump for the original pickups back in and a price reduction of £150.
15. Bump. Here's a little video from last night's gig. For a bit of slap sound please scroll to 8:30 Taken with an iPhone but it is audible enough. https://www.facebook...505859020107240 As I've edited above - I am happy to drop the original pickups in and sell the Aguilars separately. That will reduce the price with £150.
16. Hi guys, Selling my Barefaced Midget cab - 1x12 plus an adjustable tweeter. The cab is gigged and has some marks - hence the price. Amazing little and light cabs but I've moved to Bergantinos and don't need this one anymore. I am based in west London, can't post but I travel around a lot for gigs so we can sort something out. 17. Hi guys, I'm selling my Sire V7 which I bought a few months back. I've played my MM Stingray5 for 20 years and since I got the Sire, the MM has sat in the corner... It is a lovely bass but I fell in love with a KSD I played recently hence the sale. Plenty of reviews and videos online. Some details: Swamp Ash body, maple neck. The bass is currently loaded with Aguilar pickups - that improved the audibility greatly, although takes it slightly away from the original sound. To me they made the bass useful for gigs, before that i found it to be getting a bit lost in the mix with louder bands. Tuners have been upgraded to Shaller. The neck had a professional setup and a few frets have been touched by my luthier - it's a common issue with those basses. Currently with a very low action, easy to play and has the right amount of fret buzz - at least for my liking (I never got the players who like no fret buzz at all - to me it adds nice flavour to the sound). Pot caps have been replaced with better looking ones - don't remember what exactly but they're quality. I bought the bass used - the previous owner had broken the volume pot (again a well known occurrence with these bases when someone tries to replace the pot caps). That has been professionally replaced. The bass comes with a cheap gig bag (I never had the original one as Thomann don't send them with one as far as I know) and with the original pickups should anyone decide to revert back. Worth mentioning that on the original pickups I've lowered the poles of the G and B strings to create a shape that follows the neck curve, otherwise I was getting a different string to string volume. That can easily be reverted to original too. There is a couple of scratches at the back as seen on the photos. Also I managed to break one screw when I was replacing the tuners - that hasn't in any way affected the tuning and I don't think it'll ever be an issue. The upgrades on their own are worth a few quid - the pickups are £300 new (I got them for £160 second hand), tuners are over £80, pot caps are about £30 as far as I remember and there was also the luthier fee of £60 - there's nearly £330 worth of upgrades here. That pretty much sums it up. It's a lovely bass and I gigged it a lot, but it's time to move on. Trade wise - I'd only be interested in a KSD Proto-J 5 string one. Edit - bought one so no longer looking. Could be interested in any 5 string fretless basses. I am based in west London and I don't have the packaging to ship it but I travel for gigs around the UK fairly often - we can sort something out. Thanks Steff Edit: I am happy to drop the original pickups back in and sell the Aguilars on their own. That would reduce the price with £150. 19. Really really tempted to offer you my Barefaced Midget T for it... just don't know if it'll fit in my car (it's a small car)...
