I’ve just pulled the trigger on one myself. @neepheid is the man to ask.

I hadn't seen one of these before either. When it came up for sale here I couldn't resist. The off white or cream colour is so cool and the vintage tuners just tops it all off. Its no heavyweight either, lighter than the G&L. Made in Japan in 1984 so build quality is up there with the JV Squiers and the like.

G&L Fullerton Standard JB and Yamaha JB600. Both excellent basses with first class build quality and finish. The G&L is a stunner in my opinion. Not a great picture to show of the blue sparkle finish, I must take better ones sometime. The neck and fretwork is one of the best of any bass I've owned, I find it a joy to play.

My recently acquired 4003 with the Yammy and Pbass. I put a cheap(ish) set of flats on the Ric the other day just to try and they won't be coming off! I have found the tone I've wanted for so long.

It sounds fine at low volume, can't really pump it up at home. Admittedly I only plugged it in to check it worked ok. I have nothing to compare it to but it's more about the weight. As soon as I picked it up I thought that it was heavier than expected.
-
I'll be giving the shop a ring in the morning then. I'll hope for a partial refund and get a good Neo driver to replace it as the whole reason for getting this was down to weight. I'm not too bothered about having a yellow speaker in it anyhow!
-
Also, what would be a suitable (best possible) Neo replacement for it? I'm assuming it would be 300w 8 Ohm.
-
I’d have thought so, although I have had Markbass gear with black speakers in the past.
-
Just bought one of these combos second hand and its fitted with an Eminence Gamma speaker. I thought Markbass cabs/combos were all fitted with Neo drivers or and I mistaken? I just wanted to be 100% sure about this before I call the shop tomorrow.

Is now good time to be buying 'quality' musical instruments

I didn't seem that long ago that I bought a few for around the £600 mark. Crazy money now. -

I recently bought a secondhand Rickenbacker 4003 for 1500 quid. To me a sh!t load of money but probably a good investment. -
I've suffered on and off with it since my late teens and having jobs that involved heavy lifting hasn't helped much! The latest episode happened when walking the dogs one morning. For no reason its just 'went'. I have to keep my bass gear up stairs so I really need to think about what I have to carry up and down hence the 1x12 neo move. As well as a pain in my back its a pain in the a*se!

The cull continues.... 😪 This is my late eighties AH300 in fantastic condition. Bought not too long ago off @Deedee. This is superb! No issues UV light works and runs almost silent. Trace Elliot at its finest. Loads of power as you'd expect and in excellent condition for and amp of this vintage. I'll be really sorry to see this go, its been my main amp and hasn't missed a beat but due to my chronic back condition I just can't handle it anymore. Its going to be replaced by a 1x12 Markbass combo. I could keep it as a trophy amp but it needs to be used and appreciated and not gathering dust! Collection From St Helens Merseyside or I can deliver/meet within reasonable distance at fuel cost.
