A Westone ThunderJet was my first bass. I've not played one for 30 years but I'd like to hear one through a good modern amp just to see how they really sound.

Bought a cracking little Markbass combo off Dunc today. Great guy who was happy to keep it on hold for me. A pleasure to deal with and would be more than happy to play on that lovely JV Squire again! Cheers 😊

That must have cost an arm and a leg. I didn't realist that they went back as early as that. I started playing in 1988 and these only existed in magazines, well out of reach for a 15 year old! This is pretty close to me, I'd be interested to see how much it goes for.

Had the great pleasure of meeting Colin for a trade today. Pulled out all the stops for a local (for me) handover of fine basses. Ensured that his bass was restrung and set up prior to trade and in tip-top condition. Absolute first class guy to deal with. Many thanks Colin.

I would certainly pay for a pro version if it eliminated the time wasters that plague it. I forgot tho mention earlier that one band gave me a list of a songs to learn for an audition. I spent quite a lot of time learning them only to never hear from the band again! Ignored all the messages I sent them. Turds.

I've been looking on JMB for about 5 months now. I got made redundant from my old job 6 months ago which didn't give me enough spare time to play much bass. I decided not to take a similar job with long hours and early starts and get get back into playing. Well, what a shower of shyte it's been. I've only replied to suitable ads, the type of stuff I want to play and similar age group to myself (46). I'm a pretty decent and experienced player, good enough for your pub covers band which it what I want to do, nothing fancy, just enjoy playing again. I must have responded to at least 10 ads so far. Managed to get 1 audition after a long struggle communicating with them and never heard anything again. Many messages don't get a reply or the messages just stop. One bands set list was pretty much the same as my last bands. I said I'd be interested and knew all the stuff they did. I got a very quick reply saying that they'd audition me at next practice and seemed very enthusiastic about it..... then nothing. It's been like that all along, a bloody waste of time.

For sale is my immaculate G&L JB-2, theres not a mark on it! I bought this off the bay a while ago as a back up bass but I never got back into a gigging band so Its spent most of its time here in a gig bag. I owned one of these years back and used it as a main bass which I used at many gigs, this being the reason why I bought another. Only selling as I could do with the cash. Not interested in any trades thanks and the price is firm. Collection from St Helens only as I don't have a hard case for it, just a gig bag. I now have suitable packaging to ship this. I should be able to put the bass in a couple of gig bags for protection and box it up. I'll do this for £245 posted.

Is this the weakest line up ever for Glastonbury?

It's dawned on my that it's been 24 years since I've been. Jeez. I've just had a look who's playing. So how much were the tickets then? -
I've net been there for a while but I remember it being a great little shop, I used to call in regularly. I've bought a couple of basses from there many years ago, a Aria SB1000 and a 1979 Precision. Both were reasonably priced. He's had some pretty good second hand amps as well. I drove through Newtown a couple of months ago and I was delighted to see that the shop was still there as the owner is a really nice bloke. I hope he's doing well.

Back in 1988 I paid £90 for my first bass, a Westone Thunder Jet. God knows how I got that much money together, I didn't even have a paper round! Also, we had one of these Thunder 1's in the school music room and as the only 'bass player' I had first dibs on it. Happy days. If I had a spare ton I'd have this 😍
