1.
I was thinking the exact same, only problem is its a bit of a distance. Do you know if i could just post them my bass and then have it posted back when the works complete?
Hiya, still got the Corvette! Good stuff. I've posted basses to the Gallery with no problems at all. Good move getting it upgraded, its what I would have done.
2. Stunning bass that. I must get myself a copy of the book as I've had a play on one of the '66 slab body Precisions and I wouldn't mind finding out a bit more of the history of them.
3. Finnbass? Anyhow, Toasted (Joe) is a nice guy. There may have been posts he's made that I haven't agreed with or just haven't got but so what. And yep its a speaker in a box and anybody who has used/heard one has the right to make a comment on it's performance.
4. I might be a bit reluctant to auction a bass with no reserve this close to Christmas especially considering the potential value of the instrument.
5. Finbass, dear oh dear. What do they know. At the Moffat bass bash I was the bassist asked to stand on the 'stage' and demo the gear (including a BF Compact). I used a Precision belonging to Peter (GreenKing) and mainly my Euphonic Audio iAmp800 head. The audience didn't comprise of all the 'usual suspects' wanting to slate BF cabs and make digs at Basschat but some pretty competent, knowledgeable and experienced bass players. I dont want to make any comments about the cab as I feel that the chaps in the audience would have had a better appreciation of tonal quality than me being too close to it. Anyhow I dont hold any axe to grind at Alex, I've had a short correspondence with him and he seems a nice guy plus I would still like to try a BF 'Big One' at some point. Please dont tar all Finnbassers with the same brush.
6. I have a BSE 410HLF which has a blown fuse for the HF horn. Dose anybody know where I can get one from? Incidentally I use the cab with an old Trace Elliot series 6 AH200 head and the sound is lovely, even with no tweeter!
7. New website looks good, just having a browse now.
8.
Looks nice Si... Silver series?
Looks like an SQ series, if not then an 'A'. Lovely bass all the same.
9. There stunners! I could be persuaded to go 'Jazz' with Jazz like that!
10. Good God that Precision is stunning! Any chance of some more pictures?
11.
I think its cause its gone a nice darkish Honey colour
Its blooming lovely, one of the nicest naturals I've seen!
12.
and not to mention those ridiculous ash tray things that get in the way of your right hand and make changing a string a major chore! For some strange reason there are still some people who insist on keeping these – why??
Because their shiny!
13.
No problem - If you buy one, I'll happily kick it around a gravel carpark for you!
You sir are a gentleman!
14. Lovely! But could do with some relic'in!!
15. Even I liked this! Its one hell of a bass, believe me!
16. I had my first Precision when I was 16. It was a '75 and I traded it for a Stingray in 1994. I used Stingrays as a main bass for about 10 years, then moved on to a Warwick Thumb and Streamer and then one day I saw a 1978 sunburst in a music shop, tried it and was completely hooked again. I've owned loads of different makes of basses, too many to remember but the Precision just 'dose it' with no fuss or mess. It cuts through perfectly, I hear every note and so dose everybody else. I still love fancy modern basses with exotic woods and electronics and I hope to own many of them but there will always be an ol plank nearby. My '73 now strung with TI flats.... perfect!
17. Lovely! A special bass indeed.
18. I rather like it as it is!
19.
Bump for price increase
Good for you! Its worth every penny!
20.
Hi. I just wanted to chip in here as it's something close to my heart. I'm sure people haven't meant any harm responding with jokey misspelled text. But consider how incredibly confusing a text-based medium like the internet can be for people who suffer this problem - particularly given that text-based searching is really the only means yet available for using the internet effectively. Then consider how much the internet has permeated society and how being excluded, particularly for younger people, could hamper their ability to participate fully in modern society. Dyslexia was simply not an issue in the past as it is now, because on average our lives are far more text-dominated than at any other point in history. I don't have dyslexia and I used to be a bit of a spelling Nazi when I was younger, much to my shame. Misspelled words irritated me, slowing my reading. But being married to someone who has dyslexia, as do most others in her family, has transformed my understanding. We have had many conversations about how the letters seem to shift around on the page/screen - how when I read, I take in whole phrases in a glance but she has to decipher each word one at a time, sometimes letter by letter. My wife worked incredibly hard on her reading and writing skills and is actually doing very well as an academic (she has degrees from Cambridge, Exeter and Edinburgh). But it's important to understand that whilst (very) hard work allows people to improve these skills, dyslexia can't be completely overcome. It's lifelong so you have to cut some slack. The mental effort my wife expends when concentrating on getting it right is significant, if she's tired or trying to hurry her accuracy drops considerably. And whilst internet search functions have started to include spelling suggestions these don't always work with some of her more creative attempts at a difficult word. An issue if you're working in obscure academic subjects with their own special jargon! I do believe correct spelling where possible is a useful thing for everyone, but I find it incredibly irritating when people have a go at others based on their spelling rather than their argument, despite the fact that they've understood the words. Or if they lord it over them based on spelling. That's just pathetic. Anyway a bit of a rambling rant and not intended to have a go at anyone, just wanted to try and help people who've not got much experience with this condition to look at it from a more informed perspective. Cheers and apologies if this sounds a bit preachy.
Cheers Lawrence. I remember going to Aston university (I think) when I was a kid to be assessed, doing all kinds of tests etc. Long time ago now so I cannot remember much but what I do remember and will never forget was being called thick by a teacher at primary school. Also my parents anguish about having a 'slow' son. Still hopefully times have moved on now and kids can get better help and more understanding from their teachers. Thank God for spell checker!
21.
Damn you for posting those shots. I do want that bass but until after Christmas i cant afford it. How much was you thinking of?
Sorry! I could do it for £650 as there is another one for the same price, I think. I didnt want to put this up for sale when there is another one but I really need to shift one of these soon. I would include postage but it only has the Sandberg gig bag and not a hard case.
22.
Ooooo, thats more like it ;-) Any details?
It belonged to tombboy, he traded it for a cab some time ago. Its black (blackburst) with a rosewood fingerboard. I cannot really afford to keep both basses so one will have to go which is a bit of a bummer as I dearly like them both.
23. BUMP! As this doesn't want to go anywhere I may be tempted to part with my Sandberg PM4!
24. Lovely bass and a great price if you ask me. Its just a bit tough moving gear at the moment.
