    What it boils down to is that after doing my sums today I need the money pure and simple. I only got this what seems like a few weeks ago and has been my pride and joy. The pictures don't do it any justice as the quality is outstanding. There's not a mark on it. Here's the spec from Mr. Shuker 4 string thru neck 34" scale 24 frets wenge, paduak, maple laminated neck ebony f/board medium fretwire two way adjustable truss rod myrtlewood head veneer black walnut body core myrtlewood facings (front and rear) polyester basecoat gloss polyurethane topcoat black hardware schaller 2000 bridge EMG Hz pickups EMG BQS 3 band circuit Gotoh tuners Here's some pics So there it is. I paid £900 so I would be looking for the same. I would rather not post the bass as I dont have a hard case at the moment so its collection or possible meet up. Cheers, Paul

    Precision scratchplate arrived quickly and great care was taken with the packing to ensure it arrived undamaged. Cheers Pablo

There's obviously a lot of work gone into getting the bass to that level of 'relic' and the attention to detail is second to none. I'd love a '60s Precision' like this but I just dont think I would pay more than £700 second hand but thats just me.

BB[/quote] With the experiences that I've had replacing pots or basses with replaced pots(as long as the values are matched) makes no difference that I can tell. I would be more annoyed with the extra holes for the bridge cover. But besides that its a very nice bass.

The neck and tuners are correct for the pre '73 type. I think its a lovely bass which just needs a little sorting out.

    Look at the logo, all wrong! Everything else looks ok. Otherwise a nice bass which could do with the proper decal applied by somebody who knows what their doing.

    This ain't sold? - Blimey. The only reason I didn't buy it was because it had one too many strings. It really is a cracking bass and I cant wait to get mine!

    My serial number starts 503. The post are a late '73 and the pups are '73. The bass as far as I know could have been put together mid '74. I guess this one was made in early 1975 with '74 parts? Minefield!

    The bass looks good. The thumb rest is in the correct position for the year. '73 '74 was a transition period for the whole thumb rest thing. But I do think its way over priced. This one ain't too bad.     I've seen quite a lot of black 70s Fenders with the same finish crazing. My '73 Precision is black and it has the same 'issue' so yours is by no means an exception. If it was mine I wouldn't do a thing to it as I quite like it when they go that way! But if its not your cup of tea go for it. As long as its a good re-fin it shouldn't do much to the value. How about a natural finish?
