  1. I played my first gig for new band last night, first gig for 6 months in fact. Anyhow, towards the end I was beginning to get the pains in my back I usually get with a heavier bass even though I was using a pretty lightweight bass. No back pain today but neck and shoulder (left side) giving me some grief. I'd really love to play sitting down and I'd probably play better for doing so.
  2. This was my old bass and I'd love to have it back but I'd need to shift some gear first to raise the funds. Anyhow. I have a long history of having really great basses, and then selling them and this being one of them. I bought it off eBay. It looked fab with the off white body, heavy road worn look and glossy maple neck. I was however disappointed with the bloody awful pickup routing and as it was not disclosed by the seller, I did get some refund. With this I bought the Kiogon loom and vintage pickups. Fitted a Fender '62 tort guard and later fitted the reverse tuners for the authentic look. This made the bass a whole lot better in looks and sound. I remember having flatwounds on and it sounded awesome. I probably sold it to the OP to recoup some funds as I'd seriously upgraded my amp rig at the time and it bust the bank! As I previously mentioned, I'd love to have it back but my wallet is empty at the moment. Don't miss out!
  3. I think I'd have to go for the red one. But as mentioned above, I'd probably kill for a reissued TBII - We can only dream... 🙄
  4. Addictive aren't they and I'm pretty much hooked! I've always had a soft spot for them but until I pull the trigger on the Orville, I've never had a go on one. So after the Orville came the Non Reverse Gibson and then the Greco TB900 which in my very humble opinion is the coolest bass I've ever owned. Probably could do with a good set up but for now it's fine for me and it sounds absolutely huge!. I took the Non Reverse to an audition a couple of weeks back and it sounded wonderful and got some very favourable comments from the band, second audition this Tuesday and I might take one of the others as well.
  5. Yes they are. The length of the Jazz pup is 90mm BTW.
  6. 10 Years ago I was gigging every Friday and Saturday, some Sundays too, earned a good few quid. Now only a few times a year. Times have changed and not for the better.
  7. Bought a great set of strings off David. Great price and lightening fast delivery. Great service from a great Basschatter!
  8. Blimey, that's an absolute stunner!
  9. All gathering dust as the band is hibernating for the foreseeable future. Only ever used the two 2x10s and TD650 a couple of times at larger gigs, mostly used the HD350 and one 2x10 for smaller gigs and rehearsals. The 1x15 is a recent addition to the family and I'd like to see how it works with a 2x10 or just on its own.
  10. Recently bought Keiths EBS ProLine cab. As a 'newbie' without any feedback the cab was posted to me and payment made on delivery. Cab was in excellent condition and great communications throughout. Keith was happy to hold the cab for me until a suitable delivery date was available. Very happy with the transaction. 👍
  11. Awesome! That looks so good.
  12. Another stunning ACG. Congrats!!
  13. In a 90 day period my wife has sold 140 items on eBay, the vast majority sent with Evri. The only issue was one item delivered a few days late.
  14. If I were ever to be in the position to order a bass off Alan I'd ask for a 4 string version of that! Absolutely stunning in every way. Congratulations!
  15. Mine are called - Darryl, Orville, Roscoe and Bird. Sadly I don't have any pictures of them.
  16. I was hoping to to do this as I have 4 great basses and a first class amp/cab solution. But 5 days in and I've failed already. New (unnecessary) cab incoming 🙄
  17. Keep them both. You'll always need a spare amp than a spare bass. I've never owned either but I have an EBS TD650 and HD350, I've owned a Genzler. All are excellent amps so if sh!t happens and one goes wrong, you'll still have a good amp.
  18. But you can't touch it!
  19. That is lovely. The white plate and pup cover look great. GLWTS but I doubt you'll need it!
  20. Success! I found a very suitable piece of foam to do the job and it's worked almost perfectly. There's still a bit of movement but nothing like before and the height is now adjustable. I will have to do the same with the neck pup but that can wait for now. Gave the fingerboard a good oiling too as it seemed as dry as a bone.
  21. No springs, only 4 sh!tty bits of foam!! 🙄 I had a look in my box of bits for any springs but alas no.
  22. I'm not sure. I've never removed the pups from a TB but it might be worth a try. I wonder if anybody else has had this issue with them?
  23. Well mine arrived this afternoon and it sure is a pretty thing. I was hoping that the setup would have been better as the action was pretty high. I've lowered the bridge loads as the neck had only a slight amount of relief so no adjustment needed there. However, the bridge pickup sits very low and there seems that it won't raise anymore. The two screws undo but the pup seems to be already at its highest point. I've had a look at a number of pictures on line of other basses and the pups all sit much higher. This leaves a big gap between the strings and pup which doesn't seem right to me. My Orville TB's pups sit much higher and feel a lot more solid (fixed in) whereas these seem loose and move around. I'm really hoping that there's some way of getting the pup to sit higher than what's shown in the pic below.
  24. Nice surprise text off DPD informing my that mine will be delivered today. Pretty darn quick considering the time of year, nice one GAK! Used one here - https://reverb.com/uk/item/70514505-gibson-non-reverse-thunderbird-faded-pelham-blue-demo
