1.
I definitely agree with you there Mark, re the one chord vamp... to be fair sometimes people get stuck WITHOUT changes and need them to make an interesting solo, finding a multitude of chord possibilities in just one key is something I still love to hear from the best jazzers, but it can just be an excuse to w*** away with every chop you have... or not! But the vids I posted are from his new Groove Workshop DVD that is really, really good and looks at music as a whole, certainly from a bass point of view but it's really musical and not just Wooten noodling, though you get a bit of that as well Vic is one grooving mutha, and yes he can be extremly pyrotechnical but he does have all the basics down and then some and his timing and groove are stunning... listen to him with the Flecktones and he rarely puts a foot wrong, one his own stuff he can go a bit too into iondulgent slap. I'm still a fan and think his book The Music Lesson is great and I recommend it to anyone interested in music. M
Well put. Nice one Urb.
2. Why do bagpipes make me want to pull my teeth out ?

4. Gonna put this on eBay next week !
5.
the bass isnt really me great bass great tone but i never gigged it
Wow. Never done a gig ! That's when I realized how wonderful these basses are. They really cut through the mix while still sounding natural. Anyone what to buy a kidney ?
6. Go for it ! I'm in the process of selling my GB Rumor and my Wal bass because I just bought a Fodera Monarch VW 4. Amazing basses. Never thought I would part with ether of these basses ! Good luck with the sale.
7. Wow. I just paid £3,500 for one of these ! Best bass I've ever owned. I consider mine a bass for life. If I had the cash I'd pick this up in a flash ! How old is it ?
8. Thanks for your comments Silverfoxnik. I'm soooooo happy with my Fodera Monarch. Its light, yet it sounds like a heavy bass. The passive sound is very lush & the active preamp builds upon the fundamental sound. I've had a lot of basses in the past that sounded great at home but on a gig the sound would vanish. This would also cause me to dig in way to much causing fatigue and sore fingers. I like to play with a light touch and this bass accommodates this very well. At a gig, every note is clear and full, with the minimum of effort. I'm a full time pro bass player & I've been playing for 20 years & this is by far the best bass I've owned. It's a bass for life. Yes, It was expensive & I'll be paying it off for a while plus I've had to say goodbye to a couple of much loved basses. Worth every penny...... I'm a very happy man P.S. I've tried some Fodera's in the past that did nothing for me, unlike this one. Cheers. Here's a slightly pale pic. Doesn't really do it justice. I can post some more if you like ?
9. That's a cool looking bass. Is it heavy ?
10. Very nice. 35" scale ?
11. NEW PIC'S !
12. GB Rumor for sale. Built for me 11 / 2006. She has been my main bass for a couple of years. I've had a new hipshot bridge fitted by Bernie , with strings through body option and the neck is slightly slimmer than normal Rumor basses. The fastest neck I've ever owned ! I live in Brighton so she gets checked by Bernie on regular occasions. For those of you who don't know, Bernie's after-sales service is excellent. He take's good care of his instruments. It has the GB circuit without the G-spot tuner / Kick drum metronome. Some spec stuff - Ash body 5 piece birdseye maple neck with american walnut stringers Snake wood fingerboard ( this is very special & came from the same piece of snakewood that went on Laurence Cottle's 5 string GB ) Didn't make me able to play like him though ! Madrone wood facing GB Hiscox fitted hardcase included. NO TRADES. Here's a pic of her after she was built, before the hipshot bridge was installed. Recent pic's. Taken 31/1/2009. Hipshot bridge. Close up of the wood top. This pic has made it look a bit pale. Fingerboard with and without flash. It look's somewhere in-between the two. NOTE- That is not a crack but a bit of hair or something !
13. Due to a recent purchase, I have decided to sell my Wal.
14. Yum. If I could, I would. Good luck with the sale.
15. Are you interested in trades + cash ? I have a GB Rumor 4.
16. OMG. I want one of these sooooo much. Do you have a price in mind ?
17. I have just put a nice new set of DR strings on my Wal & done a few gigs with her. She sounds so good compared to my other basses that I've decided to keep her. My love for Wal is back, yippee
18. That's really loverly. Would go so well with my MKII 4 string. Good price too. I've seen two of these go on eVilBay recently for £3,500.00 and above !
19. mmmmm... I'm curious about this Ken Smith business ? Could you PM a link ? No worries if not.
