  1. Intonation off, plus it's out of tune anyway. Sounds horrible. But what do you expect for pennies..? Or cents, I should say.
  2. Yes. Are you going to tell us then, or what..?
  3. I dunno, that little speech makes you sound like a Fruit Loop.
  4. Wow, so two of your P Basses = one 70s boat anchor P Bass.
  5. So you finally got the lightest P Bass in the world! Well done.
  6. About the same as Fender headstocks, but we're much more used to seeing those. If you look at them objectively, they're huge!
  7. That's a clear case of a faulty component. It's not going to do its job properly if it's broken. I still say that tuners make little or no difference to tone - if they're functioning and properly fitted, that is.
  8. I used The Joker so that the pack could still be used for playing cards...
  9. Indeed there isn't, but there would be if said densities made any difference to the tone of a solid-bodied instrument. Which in my view, they don't.
  10. I find the Captcha pictures confusing... sometimes they are ambiguous. What constitutes street furniture? Do they mean just the signs, or the posts as well? Does a shop front mean the shop sign or the flat above, too? How much of a car has to be in a picture before it counts? Does its shadow count? Gah!
  11. Good to know you're enjoying yourself mate, I'm glad it's working out for you. I have hopes for 2018, maybe I'll see you out there somewhere.
  12. Exactly. If you start with a clean sheet...
  13. I do like 'clean', though. 'Growl' is a nice option, of course. I look forward to becoming immersed in Traceworld.
  14. There are lots of options. W Audio make some good 1U size power amps if space (or weight) is a problem. I used a 2U Crown power amp with a Zoom B3 for ages, it sounded immense. The great thing about power amps is that you can choose whatever 'tone' you fancy simply by adjusting (or changing) your preamp of choice. Having all that clean power as a given is very useful. I moved it on only because I got sucked into the 'lightweight amp' craze, something I'm about to rebel against...
  15. Mmm yes, but from what I've read on this forum, and by who posted it, I suspect I'd likely be a fan... being a clean heft aficionado, the TE philosophy could suit me well. Something tells me Trace will be part of my life in 2018... *taps finger on side of nose*
  16. But is it WORTH it? I'd gladly risk another hernia if the amazeballs/weight ratio was favourable...
  17. Pretty much anything by Crown; Thomann's own t.amp range gets good reviews. For a good power/cost ratio, this caught my eye: https://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tamp_e800.htm?ref=search_rslt_t.amp+800_173889_0 According to the PDF manual, it can be bridged to mono giving you a very usable 800W. Though 350W per channel at 8 ohms and 500W per channel at 4 ohms isn't too shabby anyway. It's 11kg, which isn't exactly lightweight and it won't fit in your pocket, but it's a reliable lump by all accounts and very affordable.
  18. Good Lord! Just reading that is making my scrotum ache. And not in a good way.
  19. Just how weighty? That set-up looks like a permanent fixture. I hope you're on the ground floor...
  20. There was an interesting thread on TalkBass a while back where someone fixed a neck and pickups to a plank of scrap timber and compared it to a regular bass, recording the same thing on both and posting the audio clips. After a load of boasty guff about 'tonewoods', more than half of TB members couldn't tell the difference, and I'm willing to bet that more than a few got lucky when they guessed at it. What makes the most difference in tone on an electric solid-body bass are the placement of the pickups, the pickups, the strings and to a lesser extent, the electrics. Bridge material and weight and body material are WAY down the list. IMHO, of course.
  21. Ha! I meant A R S E, but the farking profanity filter kicked in again...
