  1. Hmm. It didn't end well, did It?
  2. I'm quite sure it IS a commercial exercise and nothing more. But looking at why anyone would want to actually buy a signature bass... is it hero-worship, and the purchaser wants to support their hero, like a football fan wearing their team's shirt? Or is it because they imagine that the sig bass will somehow, by magic or osmosis, impart the skill, sound and success of said hero to the buyer? Even though the buyer has banana fingers, two left hands, no musical aptitude and would be better off buying a kazoo?
  3. And can anyone explain the Brian May Bass, a bass which resembles May's guitar? WTF is that about? He's not a bass player, FFS. I don't understand!
  4. So true. You'd think they'd make any colour combination available, but when the one you like does appear, it's £2000!!
  5. I want a Jamerson sig... which is basically any early 60s sunburst/tort/rosewood P...
  6. Well in this case, but AB's prices do tend towards the more stratospheric end of the scale... but you can be very sure about authenticity and so on.
  7. Well there's this... http://www.andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=1326 But AB's prices can usually be improved upon with a bit of effort and research.
  8. I wore Calvin Klein's underpants for ages before I realised I was never going to have shapely buttocks just like him. It's really all about market perception, both within the individual consumer and the pant-buying public.
  9. You can pay that for a good original example that's pre-57, I believe.
  10. Harold... is that really you??
  11. Oh, yes. But remember that Oly White was very white, it's the passing of time that makes them 'vintage' white. Regarding weight, it's variable. Some 70s Fenders are notoriously heavy boat anchors at 12 or 14 pounds and some are between 8 and 9 pounds. The only way you can tell is by picking them up and playing them. Which is a very good idea, as some of them are sublime players that sound amazing, and some... aren't.
  12. Given your location, it's more likely a "Saxon".
  13. Ahh, I see. Most of mine are from inane, puerile and insulting comments.
  14. Still way behind you though, I see...
  15. D'Addario 3+2 Nickel EXL220-5 *£14 Posted* These were originally on a 3+2 headstock 5-string Spector, so I imagine they would fit similar 3+2 headstocks. They have seen little use and have lots of life left in 'em. £14 including postage direct to your atelier. PayPal or Bank Transfer. My feedback is in my sig. I thank you!
  16. No, they start by plugging a cheap Kay guitar from Woollies into a radiogram.
  17. You look confused, have a Watt.
  18. Diamond BCP-1 Bass Comp. Use the supplied PSU and you won't get problems. If you want a pedal that's going to do bog-standard, behind-the-scenes remedial compression in a completely transparent way then it's probably not for you. But if you want a pedal that makes your bass sound super-lush while reigning in the more outrageous spikes and troughs in your playing then there's nothing better.
  19. And what a great sound it is, too.
  20. Wow, having read this I'm just glad I prefer one-piece maple necks...
  21. I think you're on the wrong website... Ha, ha, ha! Oh God, I'm priceless. *Sticks tulip up bum and hides in wardrobe*
  22. Something had to happen. You bought yourself some time.
