  1. Thanks, that's working - the link in your OP still does not.
  2. Ahhh, that's even better. So I can be anonymous AND check that I'm still alive. Great! While I'm on, I don't seem to be getting email notifications. Where do I switch that on, please?
  3. First-world problem, but when I sign in anonymously, I'm not anonymous... my name is visible in 'Who's Online' on page 1 and in 'Recently Browsing' at the bottom of each thread. Kind of like lurking and moving around undetected, or at least undetected by anyone who's not an admin or mod... But overall the site is working much better for me. It's faster with fewer error messages, which is what you'd expect really.
  4. And I immediately made a joke of it. Apologies if offence taken!
  5. What's not to like? It has 'dong' in the title. Chortle.
  6. Time takes a cigarette, puts it in your mouth... ...tempus fugit... getting to the age now where pain can't reliably be alleviated by rest, or drugs, or... tea. Found out recently that several neck vertebrae have fused together. Also I'm getting shorter and I wake up with numb limbs... if it gets any worse I'll have to take up the drums.
  7. I myself am a member of the DNA - the National Dyslexics' Association...
  8. Can't get the linky working... could be my fault, of course.
  9. Long shot, but it isn't anywhere near Braintree, is it..?
  10. Surely any organisation or movement whose name includes the words 'National Socialist' has to be suspect..?
  11. Heh. Given my, er... 'centre of gravity problem' it may not be advisable. Didn't know about Alice Cooper's bass player though, so thanks for that. Hofner, eh..? Walks away, mumbling... Wow, the proper job one isn't too affordable though, is it? https://www.thomann.de/gb/hoefner_vintage_500_1_64.htm Is there a version that does the business but doesn't require a large wad to be expended? Fnarr?
  12. This just reinforces my view that people who like to be in bands are mentally ill, autistic misfits who find it difficult to function in society and are doing it for all the wrong reasons. Sticky-floor club circuit merry-go-round is right! There are other worlds out there! Well done to the OP for achieving escape velocity!
  13. So we can't see who else is looking at a thread now? Aww!

@Discreet;  Is that still an avatar of Orson Wells, only more recent?

  14. Hmm. Bass guitar or baby. Bass guitar or baby. Doesn't make sense, considering how much a baby actually costs. Especially, as in my case, the baby is now fifteen, 6' 3" tall and eats everything in the house. There's no way the proceeds from selling one bass is going to make a dent in THAT expenditure...
  15. Snowbird is a truly great song and I won't hear a word said against Anne Murray!
  16. Yes, without NMTB there would be no Never Mind and the rise of Nirvana, Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters. Which may or may not be good news depending on how you feel about those bands. The Foos are maybe just a little over-exposed and don't really adhere to the punk ethic (whatever that means), but hey.
  17. Mike Leander is also partly responsible for that song. And it has been covered by Joan Jett AND the Glee Cast, so there you go. Glitter's real claim to fame is that his name has become rhyming slang for 'arse'. A fitting tribute, in my view.
  18. I think It's Phil James John Brian McCartney. I know what you mean, but if a bass is light it's usually also less robust. Unless it's made out of titanium or carbon fibre, or some other space-material. Probably why there are so many fourteen-pound Jazz basses from the 1970s still in existence...
  19. Hello! I'm Spartacus and so's my wife. What ARE the other uses for OTC medicine, by the way..?
  20. That's very nearly a quart! I've been tempted by the Hofner Violin bass, but it's the strong association with that Beatle chappie that puts me off, even though I'm a fan of the guy. Have you seen anyone else playing such a bass, ever?
  21. Do you wanna touch? Yeah! Do you wanna touch? Yeah! Do you wanna touch me there? Yeah! Do you wanna touch? Yeah! Do you wanna touch? Yeah! Do you wanna touch me there? Where? There! Yeah! Oh! Yeah! Oh yeah! Oh yeah! My my my my my! Yeah! Oh yeah! Oh yeah! Mind you, I find it easy to ignore GG's body of work. As I do Rolf Harris's, though I'm a lot more upset about Rolf - he was my world!* *When I was six or seven.
  22. Or a bass that's so embarrassingly bad the seller resorts to '...don't really know much about it, selling for a friend...'
