1.
Imagine if someone based their choice of clothing on the advice of a load of bass players on an internet forum.
Err... you may end up looking like this..?
 2.
I dont get the potato reference.
The OP had a typo in the heading, 'tubers' instead of 'tuners'. Cue terribly clever potato references. That's also why I posted a picture of a tuba (tuber = tuba, geddit?). Er... you had to be there, I suppose.
4 a side, not cos I`m Fender biased, it`s just easier knowing they all turn the same way to tune up/down.
Except when you're going from modern Fender to vintage Fender, in which case they all turn the wrong way.
 3.
I used to wear a bright yellow suite.
Me too!
 4. It's a shame, he's lost it completely. I heard the new single on the radio, thought, 'What on Earth is this rubbish?' and was quite surprised when I found out. Mind you Oasis weren't exactly known for the quality of their lyrics, so...
 5. For some reason I have to keep coming back to look at it, but when I do it makes me feel ill. I just don't want this thing to exist, it's an offence against decency and good taste. Can we have a whip-round, buy it, then throw in into the sea? Preferably on fire? Please?
 6.
I think there should be a 'No preference' option.
What, you don't like potatoes? Not even chips?
 7.
He doesn’t do them anymore, pound vs dollar has killed the margins...
Crikey. And we haven't even left the EU yet.
 8. Parp! Toot! 4 in a row for me, too.
 9.
Coke and JD are great together
Yes... stop pretending not to understand.
 10.
You considered doing a parts build and having something which is pretty much a 64 spec?
My next parts build will be exactly that. I hope.
 11.
Maybe this is 20th century Bass taken back to the Victorian era by HG Wells, customised and brought back, so is totally authentic...
Nah. 'The Time Machine' is full of anomalies. By going back in time Wells would have altered the future and we'd all be playing basses with graphite necks and lightweight alloy tuners, or something. Oh, wait...
 12.
...it would have been interesting to sit in on the marketing meeting when this was decided!
I bet the table was covered in coke, not booze.
 13. Trying to force a joke that somehow involves Mike Skinner, but I just can't do it, sorry.
 14. Ow, my brain! To be honest, my first thought was, 'how can you play a bass with all that crap stuck to it?' Don't understand the Victorian retro-tech/science fiction steampunk thing. As the P Bass didn't appear until half-way through the 20th century, it unnecessarily subverts the timeline of technological advancement. To me it's just a style-choice/marketing ploy/bored office worker thing. I was right the first time, it's a P-bass with crap stuck to it.
 15. Of course I thought this was going to be 'IN the street'. Clickbait!
 16.
With the matching socks and tie?
Erm... no.
 17.
The drummer's stage wear is memorable...
Shiny green pants were de rigeur at the time. I'm wearing mine now as I type.
 18.
I'd be a lot more disposed to sample green glittery Marmite than the normal brown filth!
Have a care sir, it takes a million flies a whole month just to make one small jar!
 19.
...nylon tip sticks and sand coated heads can help compensating for a soft hitter and save you time editing (ie, editing less).
Where is that soft hitter and do you have his phone number??
 20. I've used lots of OD pedals with a valve and largely the valve is included merely as a marketing ploy. The best 'valve' sound I got was from a Tech 21 VT Bass, which doesn't actually have a valve in it... http://www.tech21nyc.com/products/sansamp/characterseries.html There are some really good valve preamps out there, but not at Behringer money.
 21.
...yes, but I haven't personally tried it on anything like a body... ...it'd have to be done in multiple coats, which is likely to cause witness lines...
OK great, thanks very much for the info.
 22.
Decent stuff like West System is very hard and would withstand roundwounds for a long time. West System has a Shore rating of 83, which is apparently the same as a builders hard hat! It's pretty indestructible stuff.
Just Off Topic briefly... could you use this stuff to finish a bass body..?
 23.
It's only a 15 watt amp, and the speaker would have to either be damaged or very poorly chosen to be running out of steam at that amount of power.
The CTM-15 is an all-valve job though... could still be quite hefty!
 24.
...make sure that you've got the raw stuff sounding decent on the way in, and don't be tempted to think you can sort it out later.
How true. A little time spent getting it right in the room is worth hours and days of 'fixing it in the mix' - and it'll still sound crap.
 25.
I think the need for a sticky that explains what it takes in terms of the tools and knowledge required to successfully substitute drivers is long overdue.
I think you're right - you have the knowledge BIll, how about a short post on driver substitution and I'll get a mod to make it sticky?
