1.
It does look good, I saw a couple of examples on basses that Nick Smith brought along to a Herts bash.
Looks like they also make necks and bodies to spec, but that's another story...
 2.
Every Fender Jazz bass I've owned, and I've tried a few... Sound brilliant Look even better Love the sound... Play in a band with them and I'm like, "argh where's that nice sound gone?" I want to love them, but can't

I`ve had exactly the same experiences as Luke, Fender Jazzes, just don`t work for me.
Me too, and yet I still GAS for them as much as I GAS for anything else. Every other year or so I get one, keep it for a while and then move it on... only to buy another. On and on it goes. I must have spent a fortune on basses I don't really like. WHY??
 3.
I was impressed with their tort guards. Much closer to the proper vintage Fender stuff, than anything else that I've seen, with the exception of the Spitfire ones from the U.S.
The celluloid tort looks not half bad for the price.
 4. Try some medium-strength threadlocker, such as Loctite 243. It will stop the screw from vibrating loose but can still be adjusted as necessary. I've used it on all my vintage-style bridge saddle grub screws, works a treat.
 5.

+1 Pics or there is NO pickguard. You made it up.
 6.
Someone needs to give this guy a good old fashioned prison style shank.
That's a bit harsh. Maybe just a proper slap and nick his snout...
 7.
I do a few custom necks, feel free to pm or email if interested .
I will!
 8.
Could do worse than contact Mike Walsh of Zoot fame.
I will do that, thanks very much for the info.
 9. Can anyone build me a bass neck? There are loads of resources and links to resources here on BC obviously, but I'm too lazy to wade through them. What I want to know is, can you build a bass neck to my specifications? All the usual providers of aftermarket necks just don't supply exactly what I'm looking for. There is one place in the States, but it's quite expensive and there could be issues with importing a neck with a rosewood board - and there are other issues with import duty, shipping costs and so on that I'd rather avoid. So how about it?
 10.
You got a real bargain there. Congrats.
He sure did. I regularly scan eBay and Gumtree and other places but never find the bargains, or at least never in time to snag them. Just like those dealers and presenters on antiques TV never seem to be able to find a Ming vase in a charity shop for 50p. Bah!
 11. I bloody hate Snarky Puppy and all their works, so would already be on my bike. It's not impossible though, stick with it. In a previous band I was forced to learn a Grateful Dead track (Dire Wolf), which sounds like a really easy country number, until you listen to what the bass is doing. The bass player busked it on the recording, and the bass line is different in every version they did. It became a point of honour to learn it note for note from the album version and I did, but the band would have been happy with an approximation. The lesson is, don't get too hung up about it.
 12.
U can programme a bass line on a computer but I reckon it'll be light years before a computer can play that line with all the nuances of the fingers...scuffing, ghosting..flicking etc etc... which after all are the types of things that make enjoyable music more than just a collection of notes.
it's not just that... most bass line programming is done on a keyboard, so how the line is addressed is quite different. I've had cause to do both over the years and have programmed lines for recordings that I subsequently played live on a bass - and I inevitably changed the programmed lines to what I considered to be a better line on the bass. Mind you, I am a bass player first and a keyboard player second. Or even third.
 13.
I like to think about myself as verticaly challenged.
Hee, hee. Oh, wait... I posted in EUB and Double Basses! How did I get in here? Arrgh! Thpp! Thpppppttpp! Geddemoffme!!
 14.
If I get one it will be to be played portrait. I like the DB curvature under my right hand.
So... you're not very tall, then..?
 15. At a certain time in the 70s, you could say everything you wanted to say about yourself while being being super-cool simply by carrying a copy of Tubular Bells under one arm in public.
 16.
I'm not bothered about Tony Franklin and his playing,
Me neither. The concept of signature instruments seems nuts to me. Are we to believe we'll be able to play like the 'name' player? I'd buy a sig bass, but only if I liked it. The associated name is irrelevant. For example, I liked the Dee Dee Ramone bass, not because of him, but because it seemed like a nice bass...
 17. Yes! I remember, because there was all that scandal about the old Bishop of Birmingham.
 18.
There was a young lad from Cheshunt...
Didn't he grow up to be the old man from Nantucket..?
 19.
We also have a veto. It is used sparingly so as to avoid hacking people off. The main problem last night was that I wanted to veto almost everything that was suggested by one band member. When I got his suggestions 80% were ones we had previously discussed and dismissed.
Ha. Once we had vetoed something it couldn't be suggested again. Sounds like your band member has problems with rejection.
 20. Best covers band I was in had a policy of not including a track if even one person didn't like it. Could be frustrating, but eventually we ended up with a killer set that everyone liked.
 21. This is why I'm reluctant to be in a covers band. Either you accept the general consensus on what gets played and stay in the band, or you don't and leave the band. When it gets to the point you're playing a lot of music you don't like, it's time to move on.
 22.
Think The Who did the same according to an interview I read with Entwhistle
This may be true, but their fans largely disagreed with them and thought the drummer was great. As well as being an entertaining character when not playing the drums, of course. Not often the case when putting up with a crappy drummer down at the Dog and Duck.
