1.
Not always IMO. Sometimes a (benevolent) dictatorship accomplishes far more than an ineffective team where nobody takes any responsibility for anything! As ever though, the devil is in the detail and the quality of interpersonal relationships is key. But it can work...
The key word here is benevolent. I played in a band with a 'glorious leader' and he had us playing every single crappy gig going, sometimes two crappy gigs in one night. It was definitely quantity over quality and the band suffered for it in all sorts of ways. It came to a head inevitably, and I walked. Or staggered, anyway... but yes, it can work.
 2. Sid bought a couple of OBBM cables from me in what was a very smooth transaction. Good timely comms, fast payment, no surprises. Would not hesitate to deal with him again. Thanks!
 3.
...if your band contains a mix of some people who want to do it full time, and some people who want it to be priority #3 in their life, below work and family. That's one situation that isn't going to end happily.
Agreed, and that's why it's essential to make sure everyone's on the same page before you commit. Having said that, it isn't always possible to find out people's true feelings on the subject and circumstances can change! Aye, there's the rub...
 4. Either you want to be in a band and do gigs, or you don't. Plenty of people like the idea of being in a band but just aren't prepared to put the time, effort and commitment in, for whatever stupid bloody reasons they come up with - and I've heard plenty. In a band where everyone is up for it, gigs, and communications about them, are never a problem. Having said that, where a drummer is concerned the situation is slightly different as it's so bloody hard to get a decent one.
 5.
Skipped your meds again, Mark?
No, what makes you say that??
 6. I like the Spector crowns. Seriously though, the two examples shown are a bit dull IMHO. How about long ellipsoids or some other unique shape that would become associated with the brand, like, er... Spector crowns. OK, I'm going...
 7. It IS bloody annoying. How long does it take to type 'SOLD'? I file this miserable behaviour along with those who can't be bothered to leave feedback (even though YOU left feedback for THEM) and those who profess an interest in an item one has up for sale, then offers no further communication - thus sending your item to Limbo for NO GOOD REASON. GAHHH!!
 8.
I've tried so hard to get into his music... ...but basically I don't really dig that whole jazz/funk/fusion thang and that's hardly his fault!
Same here, but can't deny the first time I heard him play, I thought 'Wow!' Hugely talented, very unique and broke lots of new ground. Changed the entire meaning of 'bass playing' for many.
 9.
The turquoise p bass looks great!
Still don't like pearl guards, but the turquoise P looks much better in the vid than in the pics. If it had a mint, cream or parchment guard, it would be most acceptable. Now of course I have American Elite GAS. D'oh!
 10. Very nice. 70s Fenders are sometimes given a bad press. Usually by those who have never played one. Enjoy.
 11. *WITHDRAWN* Tort Jazz Guard by Guitars Electric Brand new and unused 3-ply red/black tort Jazz guard from Guitars Electric. Still has protective plastic in place. Designed to fit USA and Mexican Jazz basses. No pickup cover or thumb rest holes. £10 via bank transfer, includes postage. WITHDRAWN. I thank you!
 12.
Perhaps I should do a Peavey Porn post
Dear God, no - I don't want Peavey gas AND have a quick shuffle in the airing cupboard.
 13.
...all my basses are black or natural Fenders with maple necks so I am massively boring...
Not at all, I favour various shades of white tending towards cream... with maple. You can't blame Fender for being unadventurous, really - black white and sunburst outsell everything else ten times over.
 14. That looks much better re the Champagne Jazz, even though I don't like pearl. I do like maple necks however, just not with blocks! Why don't Fender ever do the colour combinations I want? Whenever I do see a combo I like from Fender it's always on a £2,500 bass. Obviously I have expensive tastes... Turquoise with tort is just plain wrong and is an affront to good taste and decency.
 15.
Quite like the Turquoise, not fussed on the Champagne personally.
My mileage certainly does vary - I prefer the Champagne. Or I would do, if it had the cream guard it so obviously needs and not yet another bloody tort guard... The Turquoise I can take or leave. But I'd rather leave.
 16. All those Peaveys are giving me Peavey GAS. D'oh!!
 17. *SOLD* OBBM 5m (16.4ft) Cable, Neutrik Right-Angle X2, Klotz Nice long 5m (16.4ft) OBBM instrument cable fitted with two Neutrik right-angle jack connectors. Klotz AC110. Used, but in good order. Free yourself from your rig! £16 via bank transfer, includes postage to your dwelling. I thank you!
 18. *SOLD* X2 OBBM Patch Cables - Right-Angled Neutriks, Klotz AC110 Why compromise on signal path quality just because you're using an effect or two? These 21cm (8.25") instrument/patch cables are from our own OBBM. Right-angle Neutrik jack connectors and Klotz AC110 cable. I'm after £16 (via bank transfer) for both, including postage to your atelier. Now SOLD, I thank you!
 19.
Pans Dancers?
Pan's People. An early masturbatory influence.
 20. Pretty sure I'm not going to be included in their target audience, somehow...
 21.
...Say I used one H2 with external O/H and Kick mics, one H2 for bass and guitar and another for vocals. Is it easy to mix the results or are the clocks not stable enough.
I did this a lot when recording rehearsals. As Dad says, it's a case of transferring audio to DAW, matching up the start points and doing a bit of tweaking (if necessary - often it isn't). It's easier than it sounds and you can get a lot of control over the result. Some of the best performances I've recorded have been at rehearsals - people tend to be a lot more relaxed than they are at official recording sessions in a proper studio.
