1.
I always used to think some bright spark should rename a hand cream 'Glee'. The catch phrase is done for you.
But I like to rub my hands with Swarfega.
 2.
Do you do group rates though?
150 for a Boston Pancake. No more than three in a group.
 3.
Do we even know anyone who gives good glee?
Only at a price.
 4.
...some sort of BC Glee club...
Ah, glee. Can't remember the last time I did anything 'with glee'.
 5.
I'm pretty laid back myself unless some complete tool spells an English word with its US spelling.
I'm not at all surprized.
 6. The importance of correct punctuation: Dear John I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you. I have no feelings whatsoever when we’re apart. I can be forever happy–will you let me be yours? Jane OR Dear John I want a man who knows what love is. All about you are generous, kind, thoughtful people, who are not like you. Admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me. For other men, I yearn. For you, I have no feelings whatsoever. When we’re apart, I can be forever happy. Will you let me be? Yours Jane
 7. Yes indeed, these are fantastic basses. Thank God it's not white or I'd be in deep doo-doo.
 8. I'm sorry, did somebody say something..?
 9. A few more upgrade bits and pieces on their way, specifically this Tele '51' single-coil Alnico 5 pickup which arrived from Martin Herrick this morning. It's a lovely thing, retro phenol flatwork - nice vintage vibe. Looking forward to hearing it. Version 2.0 is just about done, have moved it to this thread: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/310692-hb-pb-50-modded-v20-new-clip/
 10.
Looking good. Still preferred the gold scratchplate though
Couldn't find the gold paint! It was your kindly-donated template I used for the headstock, thanks.
 11. Got a hand-wound Herrick Alnico 5 pickup on order... apparently very close to Leo's original 51 pup, so I'm sure I'll be happy with that. https://www.herrickp...ss-single-coil/ Also going to install Fender Mex RW wiring, pots and cap which will help a lot and have already fitted this threaded-barrel bridge which I like to use on more or less everything... another pickguard sprayed Ivory White will be fitted, and I've Scotchbrited the body to take the gloss off. Don't want it looking too new, do we..? I've finished reshaping the headstock with the help of a template and will be tinting the neck over the weekend so as to be ready for the new pickup which is being delivered on Monday. Then it's on with the Fender 9050M Flats and I should be able to post pics of the finished item early next week. The necks on these are fantastic, so I'm hoping it'll be a really nice-sounding player that I don't have to be too precious about. I already had a lot of the stuff from my last effort and a few other bits that were hanging around, so the total cost was for the bass, postage and pickup: £145. Plus a lot of faffing about with spray cans, hacksaw, sandpaper, micro-mesh, and on and on...
 12. When it started to get a bit chilly at night, I suppose. ...I'll get me coat.
 13.
Oh, the filthy road we could go down with that one!
Ew! You've turned a simple unprovoked baldness jibe into something cheesy. Shame!
 14.
http://www.ebay.co.u...moAAOSwi-9ZjGll
Jack, don't you have a 'clear parabolic dome'..??
 15. SOLD Hi-Mass 4-String Bass Bridge, Fender Fit Up for grabs is this generic hi-mass 4-String bass bridge. Will replace a 5-Screw Fender-Fit BBOT type. Hex adjustment and saddle-screw grooves to keep it all solid. New and unused, surplus to requirements. Only £14 via bank transfer or PayPal Gift. Includes postage via a tracked method. I will PM the buyer an ETA and tracking information. I thank you!
 16.
So the Thomann website currently says the pickup is "Pickup system: Roswell VTN4 Vista Alnico-5 PB-style single coil", is that a rebranded Wilkinson or have they changed it?
It's not a rebranded Wilkinson - more's the pity - Roswell are part of WSC Music who are based in the far east. I've just bought another HB for modding purposes and noticed the change. It doesn't sound that bad through my system, but it's difficult to tell as the stock HB strings are pretty ropey to be honest. But I don't like the look of the pup, it has really large pole pieces that are not in keeping with the vibe of the 50s look. I'm going to upgrade the pickup.
 17.
Ta for the info. Here it is...
Nice work, of course I didn't think of looking for it on Google Maps. Gimme a break, what am I, a frigging teenager..??
 18.
What's the crack with it? Is it in a museum, or...?
It's owned by José Enciso and is parked outside his diner/restaurant, 'Triple XXX Root Beer' near Issaquah, Washington State. Draws a fair bit of business from passing trade, as you'd expect. PS: An early band I was in used to drive to gigs in an ex-GPO Commer van, too. It was yellow and had the engine under a big hump in the cab, where it would practically gas us all to death. Rock 'n' Roll!!
 19. Buddy Holly's Tour Bus, 1958 'Er Indoors and The Boy are in Seattle visiting relatives. They went out for dinner this evening and came across this - Buddy Holly's Tour Bus, 1958. And they sent me a picture. Amazing that it still exists. Felt a bit weird seeing it really, a mixture of incredulity, a sense of musical history and an unexpectedly poignant feeling, too. Or maybe that's just the drugs.
 20.
In my old punk covers band we used to put the bass drum through the PA, but cut the lows on it, and added highs. We also kept it quieter than the volume of the actual drum itself. This just seemed to add presence, plus putting it in the monitors, again just as a presence was helpful for us on stage too.
Yes... so many people think that as kick drum and bass are 'low' instruments, it's necessary to boost the lows on them for some reason when often the opposite is needed to avoid sub-40Hz crap messing everything up.
 21.
Tempted, although I've barely got time to scratch my arse these days so god knows when I'd fit recording in...
You could make a superb recording of yourself scratching your arse..?
 22. *SOLD* Yamaha MD8 Digital 8-Track Recorder A fully-functional Yamaha MD8 Digital 8-Track Recorder up for grabs. Fully working, good condition except for the usual age-related marks and scratches on the case, but these are minimal and don't affect the operation of the unit (see pics). Selling as I've finally made the transition to a DAW, so it's surplus to requirements. You can record 8 tracks simultaneously with this one and it records to MiniDisc, which are still available - however I'll include a couple of discs with the unit. Really good for recording rehearsals and you can get spiffy results if you know your way round a mixer... and your band can actually play, and so forth... I used it for tracking a live band and transferred the audio files to my DAW for mixing and post-production, which works really well. I'm after the very silly price of only £75 paid cash on collection, as I'm reluctant to post it - too expensive. However I'm prepared to deliver for petrol shillings if you're not a million miles away. I'm in SE London. Everything you need to know is in the manual, here: https://www.manualsl...Yamaha-Md8.html The pics aren't up to my usual standard, I'm afraid - my computer became mentally ill and I haven't yet got around to reinstalling PhotoShop... nasty business. My feedback is in my sig. I thank you!
