1. I suppose you could say that music is whatever you perceive it to be and you either like it or you don't. My personal view is that if a piece of music - however it's produced - doesn't stir up some kind of emotion in you, then it's not up to much.
 2. I've been involved in the house scene and TV advertising and using virtual instruments in no way frees you from the obligation to come up with good ideas and record and produce them in a creative way. I like playing bass in a 'real' band, but anyone who says producing electronic music is in some way 'easier' or 'unreal' is talking out of their arse.
 3. Ohh, that's very nice. I wish I'd kept my Lakland, now.
 4.
I made nearly £8 from book sales last month.
Wow! That's more than I made from record sales.
 5.
Then I achieve a zen-like bass state!
Ah... the Holy Grail, or something.
 6.
Wal MK1. Since the day I picked up bass 14 years ago, it's always been top of the wanted tree. By the end of summer I hope to have finally put an order in to get the ball rolling!
Let's say you get your Wal and it's everything you hoped it would be... what then..?
 7.
Like this you mean?!
Well yes, only I need a fiesta red Jazz to match my fiesta red P. I know, there's one for sale atm. But I can't afford it.
 8.
...you'd become one of those queer creatures - a collector.
Latin name gaylordus acquisitivus.
 9. After many years on the bass guitar roundabout, I'm very happy with my Road Worn Precision. It's as good as any P I've played in four decades and it didn't cost thousands, which is good insurance against me moving it on... ...just need the matching Road Worn Jazz, now...
 10. Before you lay out funds, have you tried spraying the pot with Servisol, or similar? Or has it gone the way of all things?
 11. It's all good, but if you really wanted to go 70s you'd fit a black guard...
 12.
What about this one? http://www.ebay.co.u...%3D192088053032
Blooargh! I can see I'm going to have to avoid this thread, or get a bucket.
 13. CAN were a huge influence not only on myself but many others. They were never just another band, for me they were almost a way of life and there was a period of around six or nine months - 1976, I think it was - when I wouldn't consider listening to anything else... 14. Oh my, that is nasty. If you haven't clicked on the link yet... don't.
 15.
I take that back. Just watched the 1972 live version and its a Gibson EB3 (twin pick up) and its exactly that sound so my apologies.
No apology necessary. I could still be quite wrong, of course. We really need a Bowie nerd to chime in...
 16.
Before everyone gets too excited, the OP will be doing this on a gig. Unless the sound is wildly inappropriate (say mega-scooped active Jazz), will anyone really notice in the live mix?
Ah, don't be a wet blanket. You know how we like to endlessly blather on about 'tone', only to make a sound like a badger farting in a biscuit tin...
 17. Well I don't know for sure, it's a guess. I know Jack Bruce got a similar kind of sound with a similar kind of bass.
 18. Is it not the natural drive of a Gibson EB-0?
 19.
...stood up, the top speaker is full range.
Thanks Dan, I did not know that.
 20.
Not according to Alex
'Sideways or upright - your choice! The Two10 cab be used horizontally for maximum thump or vertically for increased clarity. Dispersion is equally good either way around.' This from Barefaced's website. I can tell you from experience that dispersion is good vertically, but I haven't used it live horizontally, so can't comment on that.
 21.
How does it compare to the 69er?
Hey Tel! Sound-wise it's broadly similar - it has that 'sealed cab' vibe. You could seamlessly use a Two10 for a small/medium gig if you're using a 69er for big gigs. Having said that, I believe you could do fairly sizeable rooms with it depending on what sort of band you're in. Obviously you could use a Two10 anywhere if you're going FOH. You'll definitely be heard on stage... You might need a stand for it, or angle it up a bit if you're used to the 6X10 being somewhat closer to your ear-holes.
 22. The GK MB Fusion is one of the most impressive amps I've yet used. I can't remember why I moved mine on and I must get another. Immense, hefty, punchy and will growl like a pack of wolves fighting over a dead moose...
 23.
Remind me, when it's upright... which one is the full range speaker?
I've no idea, I'll have to give it a listen and find out. Whether used horizontally or vertically it makes little difference to the dispersion, which is excellent.
 24.
What position are you using it in?
Vertical, as per pic.
