1. What about the 'it's permanently raining in Wales' jokes?
 2.
People may shrug this off as lesser luthiery, but making this sort of thing work is a skill in itself.
It certainly is harder than it looks! Having had a go myself, I think it's one of those things that other people do. Like falconry.
 3. Ordered the paperback - so I can read it in the bog.
 4.
Of course it is, had to use a pen-name or I'd never get another gig after this.
Obviously!!
 5.
You could just turn the cab upside down.
Of course! But I couldn't do that - OCD issues with upside-down logo.
 6. So you're name's not really 'Vader'..? This lack of truth disturbs me...
 7.
Believe it or not there are sill young people enjoying making music today, none of them will want a 62 year old bass player now just as they didn't then!
There were few 62-year-old players back in the day for the very good reason that a mass-market electric bass didn't appear until the early 50s and wasn't taken up in any significant way until the early 60s. It took time for upright bass players to accept the electric bass and it was initially looked on as a freak. In fact that attitude is still prevalent in some quarters even today.
 8.
The best learning I ever got was going out and playing with other musicians at rehearsals and gigs.

Get playing with other people sooner rather than later - you can learn lots of things from books and playing along with recordings, but playing music with other human beings is more challenging and rewarding, and it's something you can only learn by doing it.
+1. Playing in a band with people who are better than you gets you good super-fast. You play up to their level.
 9.
Perhaps someone could chip in here?
Ha! Just twigged what you did there. Oh, wait - sorry, wrong thread.
 10. Bought rack ears from Nick. The usual flawless deal with great comms and swift delivery. Recommended!
 11. I've had two or three all-valve amps and regret selling all three. There is still nothing that compares to the 'all-valve bounce'. IMHO, of course.
 12. I'm reminded of Philip Larkin's Poem 'This Be The Verse'. Welcome to the forum.
 13.
No hate, however when your my age, these guys are not relevant to me. The guys I like and have influenced, me cone out of the 60s & 70s.
U2 were formed in the 70s.
 14.
As to Clayton, to me he comes across as a highly insecure man.
Apparently a vast fortune can make you very nervous. I'd like to know if that's true at first-hand. Not likely, however.
 15.
I bet there's quite a few chatters who'd pay good money for it!
What, for a smacking..? I'm sure of it.
 16.
good answer. You passed the test
But I do have a decent Squier P neck. May be a good excuse to find a Squier P body and fit it with Jazz pups...
 17. I certainly don't hate Adam Clayton. But I am jealous of him for being in the right place at the right time. That's it, really - his playing is really neither here nor there, he does what is necessary for the song, as said. I think virtuoso bass playing is highly overrated. In my view the electric bass is not a solo instrument and I like it best when it is supporting, firstly a really good drummer and secondly, a great band. Try finding either. Bah!
 18.
Did you get to compare the 210 to the 1212L? After years of using the 1212L i found my Retro Two 10 quite a shock. Huge, real low end that i hadn't heard in many a year from my rig. Unfortunately the rest wasn't what i hoped for but thats a personable thing of course.
I didn't A/B them, no. But I can remember enough of the 1212L to make a comparison. The Two10 is capable of a lot more low end (apparently) - of course it's not 'real' low end if you buy into the 'hybrid resonator' stuff (which I do) - and it certainly sounds like real low-end, so what's the difference? What the Two10 doesn't have is that big low-mid bump which is baked-in to the 1212L and can be fantastic or a hindrance depending on your point of view. I liked it, especially with a G-K MB500 Fusion - together they growled like a big bastard. But I don't miss it in the Two10. Possibly because I no longer have a G-K Fusion, unfortunately... but the Two10 and my Markbass SA450 (with its extensive parametric mid-EQ) sound perfect for my needs. At the moment.
 19.
Jealousy, insecurity, general miserableness, sometimes a combination of all three
Hey, I've got those!!
 20. Paul Turner, Pino and Jaco? Bloody rubbish!!
 21.
You could try something like that on your RW Precision!
Hmmm... no.
 22.
Don't act guilty at customs.
And don't take the receipt home with you. Post it, if you must.
