You'd be fine nudging him with an Ashdown - they are woolly, after all
Yes, and you could make him comfy with the blanket that is apparently draped over all Ashdown cabs.
What's a hybrid resonator?
Blurb: Hybrid resonator enclosure This mimics the transfer function of a classic sealed cab - a bump in the upper bass for that fat old school feel plus a shallow 12dB/octave roll-off through the lows for tight well controlled bottom which works well in all kinds of venues and keeps sound engineers happy. The hybrid resonant system increases the back pressure on the drivers, reducing their excursion and improving their efficiency and increasing the maximum bass output thanks to the extra air movement provided by the resonator. Barefaced line array Both drivers work in unison to produce big bass and punchy mids but to improve dispersion only one has treble output - just like a PA line array. It might seem counter-intuitive but the dispersion of a wave source is inversely proportion to the size of the source vs the wavelength - so side by side 10" drivers can have good dispersion through the lows and lower mids but once you get into the higher mids and treble the lateral dispersion narrows drastically. By only letting higher mids and treble come from one speakers we get much better dispersion through those frequencies so you have more consistent tone around the stage and venue. Not something you'll notice in a shop but something that can feel life changing on noisy gigs.

Diamond BCP-1, Markbass SA450, Barefaced Two10, Fender Road Worn P/LaBella Flats. 500 watts of warm, clean, punchy goodness. Mmm.
I was tempted to ram it into his back to get him to move, but he did look rather frail.
You can't go ramming old, frail deaf people with an Ashdown cab. It's not the done thing.
-
I was asking him to move, but he couldn't hear me!
Perhaps the internationally-known sign language gesture for 'feck off' would have been appropriate..?
I like my gear to inspire me... so if it works for you it's totally worth it.
Yes, it's working for me - at home. I'll find out on Sunday if it works for me in a band context... I'm sure it will be fine.
Sure is. I bought my two to replace my Ashdown 2x10 combo (35kg) and 15" cab (27kg) after a couple of back injuries (caused by carrying them). The 210s are light as a feather compared to those!

I have a trolley for anything further than 20 yds away.
I'm so spoiled now, anything over 10kg gets the sack truck treatment unless it's a park-outside job. I got fed up with hauling my Fender Rumble V3 500 combo (16kg), so bought the One10 (7kg) but quickly realised I just didn't much like carrying anything at all really, so bought a Two10 (13kg) for the headroom and extra beans in case I don't get to go through the crappier of the PAs we use - but the Two10, along with my Markbass SA450, weighs almost exactly the same as the Rumble! And cost me an extra £550 in total, to boot. The Markbass/Barefaced rig is more versatile than the Rumble, however. But is it worth an extra £550..? I've got to say yes really, haven't I?

Don't Get Spoiled By The Festival & Fair Season
I am a sucker for yellow...
We can see that from your profile pic... -
...the Two10 isn't tempting me... it's too heavy
Yes, it's 13kg. It's all relative - the One10 is 7kg, but it's still too heavy - if you need to carry it for a mile. I remember thinking only quite recently that 24kg is nothing for a bass cab and back in the day was happy to throw an 8x10 around. Where are the snows of yesteryear..?

I'm not finding any muffling using the Two10 vertically. It's loud and clear. But again, I'll need to gig it to see what's what.
I do wonder how many of the supposed faults that put the OP off were down to set up issues rather than QC.
Shop basses are generally set up badly. The first thing I do when I get a different bass is replace the strings and set it up to my own preferences. I don't let action, intonation or other set-up issues put me off what is otherwise a good bass. They are temporary and adjustable to the nth degree. Also, strings make a HUGE difference to the sound and playability of a bass. Something that seems to get overlooked for some reason. I don't let crappy strings put me off, either.

Just goes to show that you need to get out there and try basses for yourself. I know buying online is the only option for some people, but it is very much a lottery. I've had a one or two mediocre Fenders but my current Precision is the best I've had in 40-odd years and it's a Mexican.

I've yet to gig the cab, but I won't use a stand, so the port will be firing downwards into the floor. I know from the One10 that quite a breeze can emanate therefrom at high SPL, but I think the clearance afforded by the feet is sufficient to dissipate it. It's not six inches though, I'll give you that. As far as I understand it from the Barefaced literature, the 10-series cabs mimic the effect of a sealed cab due to the 'resonator enclosure', which increases back pressure on the drivers, even though there is quite a lot of air movement through the port. I don't pretend to understand how it works, but using the cab vertically at home it's certainly not 'boomy'. However, it can easily handle 3 o'clock's-worth of 'Low' from my Markbass SA450 running 500W RMS @ 4ohms at high volume with no issues. I'm not going to be lacking heft, if I dare say the word. I'll know more after this weekend's gig, which is an outdoor affair, so should be interesting.
I know getting a number with that many changes into my old brain would be nigh on impossible.
Also the bass isn't that well-defined and some of the notes at least are not at all obvious. To me it sounds like the bass line has been written (if not necessarily played), on keyboards. -
I've always wanted a fairly battered looking P or J. The Fiesta Red J I tried (Road Worn) looked and felt awesome. Wish I'd got one when they first came out. The Sandbergs look great, but for some reason the Fender wear looks more authentic to me....thin nitro vs poly wear?
The Road Worns are fantastic players and sound very good indeed. If this Jazz is anything like my Road Worn P (only in Jazz form, of course) then it will be a fantastic bass. I wish I'd discovered the Road Worn series when they first appeared, too. Apart from the mandatory arm contour wear and faux fag burn on the headstock, the wear is very plausible indeed and the nitro finish and rolled board edges make the basses really pleasing and comfortable to play. The ageing of the hardware is particularly good.
All paid for, arriving tomorrow! I've forgotten what new bass day feels like! I'm quite looking forward to not worrying about wear and tear, which sounds ridiculous!

The first of my brace arrives today, I think it will have to go back to GuitarGuitar Still the second one arrives on Thursday
We'll need pics! Lots of pics!
I'm not sure that tool would help with these Flea basses. The gap from the scratch plate into the neck heel is very small.
It is, but in the spirit of the re-issue/road worn thing it will be necessary to repeatedly shove a screwdriver in there without removing the pickguard OR the neck - just to get that authentic 'pickguard truss rod adjuster wear' look.
Haha what a dick!
You know the rules - pics or your dick didn't happen.
One 210 is enough, blimey, looks like I`m going overkill with my 210 & 410 that I`ve got on the way.
One Two10 can be enough for mere mortals like Huge Hands and myself, but I doubt it would be enough for your particular brand of punk rock, Lozz. And of course there's the look of the thing to consider... I don't think you could turn up at any halfway-serious punk rock gig with just ONE Two10! Or even two, come to that - you need that Four10 (just in case you were wavering).
...there's no excuse for not being able to figure out bass parts. Unless your trying to learn parts you don't have the chops for.
Obviously there is an excuse - the OP says he sucks at it! And to be fair, the piece he linked to isn't your usual 3-minute rock or pop ditty with a verse, chorus, middle eight, chorus, etc - I'm great at learning stuff by ear me, and I certainly wouldn't fancy it much. -
errr.... how did you do that? please?
Sorry, I didn't intend to make you look like a wobbly arseclown. I did it with Snipping Tool.
No one comes to the end of bass guitar GAS...
You quoted me out of context! I qualified that by saying I'd come to the end of Precision Bass GAS. Thhp! Of course, it's just as likely to be bullplop.
-
Interesting. What's better about it? It's about 1 and a half times the price.
It's lighter, the neck feels a lot better, it's more playable and it sounds better. The differences have little or nothing to do with the 'road wear', that can safely be ignored. It's not like any other Mexican bass. It really sounds and feels like a vintage USA P and is well worth the extra cost In my opinion. If you can find a used one, it's a no-brainer. I'm loving mine, it's going nowhere. In fact I may move on my other basses - I have come to the end of bass guitar GAS. Well, maybe just the end of Precision bass GAS... don't want to go nuts...
-
...if you didnt stack them vertically and you did have an amp that could run at 2 ohms you have the phase cancellation that the 4x10 doesn't suffer from.
Don't think so, the Two10 has the line array thing going on, just like the Four10. If that's what you mean.

I do it by listening to it over and over again. I mean hundreds of times. When you really apply yourself to a song forensically it changes - and inevitably the bass isn't actually doing what you (and everyone else) thought it was doing. The problem is this, your band mates won't take the time and trouble to learn the song in the same way, so you tend to get frustrated with the 'that'll do' brigade. And the guitarist, who will tell you he has learnt the song but will actually have listened to it once in his car on the way to the rehearsal. Good luck!
