1. Anything with Carol Kaye or Joe Osborn playing on it.
 2.
I flossed my dog's teeth then cleaned out the u-bend in our toilet.
Well done that man - when oh when will people realise there are far more important things than music..?
 3. Don't know about Coldplay but the surprise and delight of the festival for me was PJ Harvey. Original, engaging and brilliant.
 4. Have ordered some Birchwood Casey Tru Oil.
 5.
...there's a couple of links to videos in there with some helpful tips on the process http://basschat.co.uk/topic/271642-inept-woodworker-bodges-his-way-to-a-half-decent-result-well-chuffed/page__pid__2938502#entry2938502
Great, thanks very much... think I'll go for it.
 6.
I used birchwood Casey tru oil and gunstock wax on my USA ebmm sub. It's what they use on the proper stingrays and I'm really happy with it.
Thanks for that. Does it retain a satiny feel?
 7.
Bare wood will get dirty and mark up. I'd take just enough off the surface to remove the shine without going down to the wood.
It's a Road Worn so Fender have already made it dirty as it turns out. Bass is nitro but back of neck is (or was) some kind of urethane. Which is mostly gone. So it's already close to being down to the wood.
Oil it to taste - light enough to not even be felt is OK as long as it's there - but don't leave it totally bare
Thanks Chris. What kind of oil would you recommend?
 8. Is an unfinished maple neck OK? Searched for this and found nothing specific. I'm sure it's probably here somewhere, but anyway... I like to remove some (or all) of the finish on the back of my maple necks (with a Scotchbrite pad) as I prefer a silky, satiny-type feel. I hate it when I'm playing a sweaty venue and my hand starts sticking to the neck. However... I've read that a maple neck needs to be protected from environmental moisture and humidity, otherwise it may warp or twist, or at least need more frequent truss-rod tweaks over time, so... My questions are thus: 1. Is this true? And 2. If so, what finish could I apply to protect the neck but retain the dry silky-smoothness? And how? I thank you!
 9.
We're just taking it easy at the mo, but was yours non-trim pot?
No, it had a trim pot. I didn't reduce the output though, I liked the endless POWER!! Bwa-hah-hah-hah-haaaahhhh!! Wibble.
 10. Congrats Sean, it looks lovely. If it plays anything like my old pre-LX Euro4 with maple wings then you're onto a winner. I'm sure you'll love the Tone Pump too, it's a total beast. Caution is advised!!
 11.
I cut everything below 50hz (I use a graphic EQ on a zoom ms60b) and it clears things up quite a lot - I know its counter intuitive to cut bass on a bass guitar, but apparently most frequencies under 30hz are inaudible anyway Everything else is normally pretty flat though.
Absolutely. Most of the perceived low-end 'power' of electric bass is around 80Hz - 120Hz anyway, so you're really only losing inaudible frequencies that interferes with the kick, messes up your stage sound and uses up valuable headroom for no good reason.
 12. Another Hardpuncher! They'll be flavour of the month at this rate!
 13.
I have no GAS.
Bwa-ha-haaah!! Enjoy the feeling, it won't last. I'm pleased with my current Markbass amp, but have a sneaking suspicion something else may be getting pushed through my letterbox. And I don't mean the postman's cock, like last Thursday.
 14.
As mentioned above, just plug & play, you don't really need anything else. (this week)
I've spent years trying out different basses from different manufacturers and have had quiet a few through my hands over the years. My first serious bass (1976) was a Precision. My latest bass (2016) is pretty close to perfect, IMHO. It's a Precision.
 15. Sire V7 Jazz? Affordable, versatile, active/passive switch, sounds good, plays well... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/258828-nbd-sire-marcus-miller-v7-alder-4-awh-audio/
 16.
Holger Czukay used one in Can, and he is one of the reasons I picked up bass.
Me too! And Jamerson and Joe Osborn, of course. Weird mix, admittedly. But there it is.
 17. Try your EQ flat, which usually means everything at 12 o'clock. Sometimes it doesn't mean that however, in which case search TalkBass for 'Flat settings for XXX amp' - XXX being your amp, of course. When that's done, wind up the volume to where you want it. Make adjustments as necessary. As said, pushing the mids a little can cut through the mix. What you don't need is loads of low-end sloshing about. This will make everything sound muddy and boomy and is... not good. But remember that the bass sound that is best in the mix for your band will probably sound horrible when you try it at home playing solo. A mix is just that, a combination of sounds. Individually they can sound terrible, together they can be sublime.
 18.
Sorry but that looks pink to me, fiesta red is more coral.
My camera isn't the best, nor is my computer monitor. I'd say it's too purple if anything. Fiesta red has more red/orange in it in the real world. Coral is a good description. I've checked the colour balance and re-uploaded the pics.
 19. I'd buy a Limelight over a Nash (half the price for one thing), but my recently-acquired Road Worn P is a cracker. Not what you'd call 'unique' though, but it sure do play nice and sounds great.
 20. Hardpunchers have a great rep on this forum. Just like the real thing!
 21. Welcome! TalkBass, eh? You can be assured we have a far superior level of stupidity and opinion masquerading as fact on THIS forum!
 22.
Great review Mark and superb pictures. Glad you are liking the bass.
Thanks Karl, I certainly am - it's a peach.
