1.
P Bass, Flats.
Of course - are other strings available, then??
 2.
Can you use both inputs at the same time?
Good question, to which I don't know the answer, sorry.
 3.
The band is starting to get really busy so I'm looking for the best of gear rather than whatever is on offer. I've got a really good bass, I've just ordered a Radial JDI to replace my cheapy DI box and if I can find an amp/cab/combo more suited to the band than what I have now then I wouldn't even think about the money.
I wasn't implying you're a cheapskate. But no point spending more than you need to, imho. Good luck.
 4.
I'd not have taken the gig in the first place.
5.
As it would effectively just be a monitor, it doesn't matter how it sounds in the mix as long as I can hear it clearly on stage...
In that case I would definitely buy a Rumble 100 - purely for the convenience of a combo over a separate head/cab rig. Plus it's £236 from Thomann and it weighs less than 10kg. A MiniMax and a One10 together are going to cost you at least £620, which is quite a lot of cash for a monitor by comparison.
 6.
I was hoping that you'd say that it was pants compared to the Rumble.
I said the MiniMax compares favourably with the Rumble and is 'broadly similar', but it doesn't sound exactly the same. If you're happy with the Rumble sound but just want less volume you might be better off buying a Rumble 100 Combo, which is loud (for a 100-watt amp) by all accounts and has the same pre-amp section. It's affordable, too. Or if you really want the portability of the One10 then perhaps the Rumble 200W amp head would make a better pairing. I'm pretty sure the 'voiced' cab section of the Rumble has a lot to do with the way it sounds, too. The MiniMax/One10 combination might disappoint if you're expecting it to sound exactly like a Rumble - it does not. Also, a stand that gets the One10 up by your ears would likely be unstable - the One10 is tiny. A floor stand that tilts the cab up 45-degrees might be a better solution.
 7.
I hate playing Close to the Edge...
I'm sure Bono would disagree with you.
 8. I play lots of other instruments, but none that I'd want to appear in public with. When people ask me what I do, I tell them I'm a bass player. That may of course be gross misrepresentation and tantamount to a terminological inexactitude, but that's what I say nevertheless.
 9.
What exactly do the "fun people" do ?
Have fun?
 10. Well I hope he's OK. But I know from previous experience that carrying that kind of poundage has consequences. But on the other hand, a slim Meat Loaf would be bitterly ironic at best...
 11.
...have you considered one of these?
Hmm, that name seems familiar...
 12.
I shall keep an eye for your Limelight Wanted ad.
Why, have you got one you want to move on??
 13.
I believe it may be. Got a bass from Germany couple of weeks back, GLS collected it,had it processed at both local and national depots then delivered to the UK. All within 27 hours , and it was £30 not the £48 I'd been quoted here! Once here Parcelforce got it and buggered around for 3 days.
Same deal when you buy from Thomann. All is Teutonic super-efficiency when you check the tracking, but as soon as it gets to Blighty everything slows to a crawl. SNAFU.
 14.
I've always loathed playing "Merry Christmas, Everybody"...
Did it for a Christmas do in a function band years ago. It's actually not the easiest bass line to learn properly. Particularly if your band have no clue and don't listen closely enough. Once you start listening to it forensically, you realise that it is in fact a brilliantly-crafted pop song and deserved all the success it got. And is still getting.
 15.
I'm more than happy for this to turn into a walking dead thread as its one of the only shows I do watch...
Fair enough. I'm happy too, all these Limelight shenanigans are giving me horrendous Limelight GAS.
 16.
Nah, he's just winding us up

This bass is quite likely to be staying as t'other looks to be on it's way.
17. Hey, I thought I was the one who did the thread derailing?? Besides, I don't like The Walking Dead. It's a casserole of nonsense. I do like Limelight P Basses, though. See how I seamlessly got back on topic there, folks?
 18. Just to add my 2p: The GK MB500 Fusion is loud, versatile, easy to use and sounds great out of the box. It also has the best EQ in the business. I'd recommend it to anyone regardless of style or genre. It'll do the lot.
 19.
Wrong colour for metal!
Wrong colour for wood, too.
